Apologies to all well meaning Demonlanders. You know who you are (vast majority) I simply started this thread as a well deserved salute to Brad Green our new Chair. We all know why. But gee I and others have been trolled for who knows what by who knows. But my objective remains and looking forward greatly to the agm Go Dees Again. Sincere apologies.9 points

5 - Harvey Langford 9 - Xavier Lindsay A strong combination of inside/outside, both great kicks and one can float forward and the other can play behind the ball when they aren’t in the midfield.7 points

5. LALOR/DRAPER/LANGFORD/SMITH 9. If one of the above is still available take him if not SMILIE/TRAVAGLIA/ALLAN/SHANAHAN 83. DENNIS6 points

Question? Sorry hadn’t noticed What do you want to know You don’t have to believe anything I say. I really couldn’t give a rats But when i am given snippets of info I will put them on here, for those that are interested6 points

I don’t think too many on here consider themselves experts. We’re just mug punters who have watched a handful of u tube clips and have an opinion, an addiction to the game and the MFC. A few would have watched some games live but the majority don’t have the time.5 points

Kinda hoping for the flying Viking at 5 The joint would go into meltdown about not taking a mid at 5. But he reminds me of a young N riewoldt, D Schwarz, P Knights. Blonde haired aerialists. There's just something good about them5 points

From what Jason Taylor and Tim Lamb have said, they will take best available talent. For pick #5 I am thinking either Jagga Smith or Harvey Langford. Both amazingly talented players and a lot will depend upon who Richmond, North Melbourne, Carlton and Adelaide take before us. For pick #9 I am thinking one of four players. It could be Xavier Lindsay who is an elite kick and very underrated, it could be Murphy Reid who oozes talent with his decision making skills, it could be Josh Smillie who has the potential to be the next Marcus Bontempelli or, lastly, it could be Taj Hotton, who showed he is supremely talented before he got injured earlier in the season. A lot will also depend upon who Richmond and St. Kilda choose with their picks. Who ever the Demons pick, I have huge faith in Jason Taylor and the rest of the Recruitment Team who I am sure will do their due diligence.5 points

'Rubbish' = Hyperbole! At least back it up with something specific! The verbs I used do not imply any 'super human abilities'. To me they are standard actions of 'change management' which is what I see Green's role has been and will hopefully continue to be. If you think they are 'super human abilities' it is an assumption on your part. My post did not imply nor intend that Green did it all. It is another assumption on your part. A 'change manager' by definition does not act unilaterally. As an aside, your retorts to some posters in this thread have become tedious and add little to the discussion. After a while it sounds like Tr-lling ... 🤷♀️5 points

Good idea to bring in Young Leadership whilst Max & Co are still playing. Choco will know exactly who is ready as the Head of the DNA4 points

Agree with Ted and you DubDee, I would pencil Roo in as a potential Captain and I also think that Trent Rivers oozes leadership it just needs to be channeled, this new leadership development team that the club are bringing in will unearth and develop 4-6 new leaders that already exist within our group. Remember ANB as soon as he was bought into the leadership group his game went up several notches and continued to improve right up until his last game with us. With an ounce of luck we will bring in another this draft.4 points

I think that our backline is well lead, Gus often referred to it as the Men’s department with much pride and it has been our strongest suite since 2020, the loss of Gus has hurt us much more than a lot realised and we now need a couple of Rivers, Judd, Bowey or Howes to step up and help fill the Gus void.4 points

I have to say, with Birch and Gay leaving, it left a massive hole in our key defence. We had young Gillard who at 20 shows signs of a very bright future but she is still very young. In 2024 however we saw Maeve Chaplin step into a CHB role and was under pressure, but she excelled. Certainly Maeve was a big improver with the opportunity presented. So it’s great see her season recognized . 👏👏👏👏 MFC media article http://mfcde.es/4hEFEIG Maeve Chaplin put together a career-best season in 2024, but it wasn’t without effort. THE AFLW world is made up of many unique journeys, but arguably none quite as unique as Melbourne defender Maeve Chaplin. It was just two years ago when Chaplin was first signed by the Dees, only to be delisted by the club a few months later. Now, after a career-best season, the 22-year-old has put her name in the mix of the top defenders in the league. is a unique journey, and I'm really grateful for it, I think it's shaped me to be the person I am,” Chaplin said. “I missed out on two drafts when I was 18 and 19, then got signed as a replacement player. “Then I got delisted, then drafted again in that same year – the 2022 seasons - and then won a premiership. “It's a unique start to a football career, but I honestly wouldn't change it. It's going to always make me work hard knowing that nothing comes easy. I'm just super grateful for the experience Melbourne has been able to give me.” While it’s been an increase of impact with each season that she’s been at the club, 2024 saw her skyrocket to new levels of talent. To put her rise into simple numbers - at the end of 2023, she had averaged eight disposals and 3.8 intercepts. In 2024, she finished the season averaging 6.7 intercepts (10th in the league) and 13.6 disposals, with a disposal efficiency of 78.7% (a team high). Rather than just a player in the Melbourne backline, Chaplin’s name became known among the league, recognised for her strength and power in the defensive contest. For the Demon, the season she put together was both a surprise and also a reward for effort, having put in an off-season of hard work. “I wasn't really expecting it to skyrocket the way it did,” Chaplin said. “I worked really hard in the off-season, so I feel like it's a surprise, but I also feel like I earned it.3 points

http://bit.ly/4fhPkY9 Definitely think TT is a strong option for the Dees at pick “9”. I’m a big supporter of his style of footy. Like his run and carry and energy. Reminds me of the Riv in his draft year. State: Victoria Clubs: Bendigo Pioneers/Sandhurst Position: Defender Height: 187cm DOB: 26/10/2006 Key traits: Endurance, Speed, Run and Carry, Versatility, One-on-One Defending Compares himself to: Will Day U18 Championships Averages: 112 ranking points, 21.8 disposals, 6.3 marks, 8.3 intercept possessions, 2.3 tackles (4 games) Expected Draft Range: 8-123 points

Depending on how things fall I wouldn't outright dismiss this. Considering we did a similar move for Kozzie and we most likely would've given up a similar bounty for Gold Coasts pick 13, this may give us a chance to get back a good 2nd round pick in this draft. I wonder if we can get a better deal from another team along these lines. West Coast 12 and 26 or Richmond's 11 and 23? Langford (or best mid available) at 5 Berry/Reid/Travaglia/Allan/Lindsay at 13 If we're lucky one of Jack/Matt Whitlock, Jaunty Faull, Noah Mraz or Tom Sims may be available here at 29. Alternatively Smith (or best available mid) at 5, Shanahan at 13 and Boxshall or Ough at 29. Good mix of 2 mids and a quality tall in these scenarios. Would have to be confident a player we like gets through past Port, Richmond x2 and West Coast.3 points

I think it will be Smith & Travaglia, and would be happy with that result.3 points

Sorry CF not interested in heresay this was the allegation that burdened Simon and his family for four years and now it has been put to bed I realise that people who dislike him still have their axes to grind.3 points

If Jagga gets through to our first pick it’s him 100%. Then ideally a Bo Allan or Josh Smillie. If not Jagga then I’d go Langford and then Reid at 9. In both scenarios you get a smaller, consistent ball winner with good hand and foot skills and pair him with a big bodied athlete with a high ceiling. No matter what I’d be going 2 mids.3 points

http://7NEWS.com.au Maxy … oh no … copy their onfield energy only … fyi we once let our junior managers plan an offsite. Whilst it was on the business plan for the event, they forgot about the catering (drinks list only) and the bus transport was for arranged for one bus to transport 85 staff. At least we got the lunchtime fire pit experience (which is in vogue) where he all got smoked out and returned home full of smoke like being on a 1976 plane flight. As long as you don’t try to “pivot to lean in to future strategic initiatives to expand our footprint” 🤮 and … footnote… love the auto-text Who is Krishan Batraka … 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣did he convert to Hinduism whilst at the Red Bull love in !!!3 points

5. Draper/Smith/Langford in that order 9. Tauru (who’ll be gone) so Allen or Travaglia2 points

I'm thinking the same 'Robbie', Lil has been great for the club and really important around the group. ...but she hasn't had a good season and has struggled a bit at times before that. With a lot more athletically gifted female footballers who have been well trained before they come into the system, it's going to make it harder for some of the older players. Particularly those who don't have stand out attributes. I think Lampy is another who has struggled. The game and talent level is improving quickly and some will get left behind. Mick is going to have to make some very hard calls. Interesting times ahead.2 points
-
Hotton would be a bold call for sure. I'm thinking longer term though. I think our windows shut now and we're building the core of our next premiership team. Trac did his ACL preseason and missed entire first year. Didn't stop him becoming a superstar and Norm Smith medalist. Hotton is a talent, but how talented is hard to judge.2 points

Trading into the draft to take a kid who won't play for the bulk of the year would be an interesting call2 points

Don't mind the Hannaford shout, might be one you could trade pick 9 down a few spots and still grab2 points

5 - Langford just over Tauru. Really hoping one of them is available 9 - Hannaford. This kid is legit. Speedy, explosive, one touch, physical. He’ll be a quality small forward who transitions to a good midfielder once he builds his tank. 83 - Tye Hourigan2 points

Taj Hotton could be the one, he's so exciting when he's up and going, and i suspect without his injuries we'd probably be talking about him in the top 5 of the draft.2 points
