Nah. But I see 'long fingers' Marchbank was also delisted. Weird that the Blues showed such little loyalty to him just ONE YEAR after he 'SINGLEHANDEDLY' robbed us of a win against those rats last year. I'd almost be happy to take him, then drive him somewhere and leave him there. He'll be fine! I don't wish him harm. He'll thrive. He can use those super long fingers to pluck fish from rivers, and maybe even a few birds as they fly overhead. When he's done he can tap some aircraft to collect him, or latch on. Whatever.10 points

this was the first year that sestan has been given significant game time in the middle at vfl level - he deserves at least a full year to get up to the required fitness levels to go from a deep forward to a midfielder from watching a lot of the casey streams in the last few years, what's clear is that the talent and skill is there but the tank and the consistency needs significant improvement i'm confident that sestan has attributes to compete at afl level - i see him as similar to a player like harmes who was far fitter yet still took his time to establish himself in a significantly poorer side, first as a forward who could play a bit as a mid, then as a tagger, then eventually as a second rotation mid in his own right10 points

Needs to get AFL fit. If he can/does I think he has the tools to make it. An excellent kick, but simply does not have the tank to get enough of the pill.8 points

This is an important draft. Allow me to be the 50th person to say that we need to nail this and the trade period.8 points

Is there an echo in here? Happy to hear this. Need all the leadership we can get.8 points

I agree they're both great young players full of potential, but not sure how those Ins work in the real world. Ward was pick 7 in 2021 and is now starting to flourish at an up and coming Hawks. He's contracted for next year. Humphries was pick 6 in 2022 and signed a contract extension to be locked away until end of 2028. He's shown he will be a star in time as he builds his fitness to play midfield for more minutes. Both are pillars of their clubs future midfields. They would both command a first round pick for a trade if their clubs let them go. Where do we get the capital to trade for either of them without giving up our pick 5?6 points

Surprised to see Sestan given another year. Gradual improvement and is smart around goals. But hard to see where he fits in. Had 3-4 good games but went missing in another 8-9 games. Injured across 5-6 for the year. Have to back in the club who sees him as one of those project players !!!6 points

Defeatist attitude. What would Blues, Pies and Cats do? Start the lobbying with Kane and Dillon immediately and maybe given our woke new world, threaten litigation from him for being racially disadvantaged. Gary Lyon is furious at Andrew situation so use him in the media to push for it. The AFL changes rules on a whim as we well know.6 points

I heard his Nona gave him a recipe for Humble Pie - but Tracc doesn’t like the taste.6 points

You heard it here first 🤣 Gold Coast Suns confirm talks over Dustin Martin’s return to footy5 points

Your information about the amount he owes is incorrect. Last reports were that the shortfall was around $300,000 but, as much as I would like to see him fork up the money, he technically owes nothing because of the bankruptcy in the intervening time period. Morally, I don't believe he should be using his former position as a club President and benefactor to utter a single word about the club to anyone including the media whilst that amount remains unpaid. He should STFU.5 points

Dusty to Gold Coast appears on, should we be asking the question of Bailey Humphrey? We were super keen on him in his draft year, will he be pushed out through Dusty and Leo Lombard? They will play the same role as him. He wants midfield opportunity and Dees could offer him that. Signed til 2028 though 😩5 points

I'm not in the sack Goodwin camp, but accept no-one at the club is immune from scrutiny, especially in the current climate. Agree that game plans are best formulated and practiced pre season. However, anyone that was at the R.2 game against Hawthorn and saw the rubbish game style they displayed against us, compared to how they play now, will know things can change dramatically, and for the better. You just need the b*lls and the nous to do it.5 points

My take on this (rightly or wrongly is): - the board is the ultimate authority, very hard to truly review them, however boards can appoint someone to assist with independent review and make changes. You need strong leadership for that change to be pushed through though. - the Board appoint a CEO to manage the business for them. - if the Board is under review, it isn't a good time to replace the CEO. It is probably better to review and refresh the Board then the new Board reviews the CEO - the CEO at a football club is responsible for the commercial/administration operations and the football operations. These might be two different departments but ultimately the CEO is responsible for both (via staff appointments) - So a football department review is in effect a review of the CEO. If there are lots of failings in the football department, the CEO is ultimately the person responsible for those failings - Ultimately we review/refresh the board, and then the new board will assess is Pert is still the right person going forward, and they will have the results of the recent football department review to help inform that decision.5 points

Behind only Robbie as my favourite all-time Dee to watch live. His 9 goal half against the filth, his Waverley goal, his mark on Garry's head. I saw them all live and so much more. The true 'Wiz' of the AFL. What a player!5 points

I'm not sure as to how many of you here are subscribers but my wife is and, as a result I voted and I also left a comment about the way I feel. Anyone who knows about polling, will tell you that the conclusion reached by Robinson about Melbourne supporters' attitudes to Gutnick's comments is fatally flawed. The respondents could be supporters of any one of the 18 AFL clubs or indeed, supporters of none of them. This is shocking but unsurprising given the consistently anti MFC reporting from this newspaper. If you subscribe to the the Herald Sun, you too can vote and leave a comment (up to you how you vote and what you write). It will be interesting to see if it gets a pass from the moderator.5 points

Ironical that a bloke that was disciplined by the club for doing burnouts in the Trinity Grammar car park on his way out from a pre season training session had an issue with training at Cranbourne where burnouts are a way of life.5 points

Thanks Will Verrall (200cm), Luker Kentfield (194cm), Oliver Seston (188cm), Andy Moniz-Wakefield (182cm) and Kynan Brown (181cm) for showing faith in the Dees and MFC for providing the hope and opportunity for these young men to flourish in. Good luck boys I hope that you all make the grade.4 points

I agree, Kynan will make it, but he has some things to work on. He was careless with disposal in the latter rounds at Casey this year leading to some silly turnovers. He gets the ball, and that's a big plus. Also tackles hard!4 points

I don't have any expectations at all. After the way we finished, some poor pickups from other clubs and players wanting to leave it's hard to fathom this club has a real winning passion and culture. I deeply appreciate players like Max and Jack and a couple of others but I feel the club was extremely complacent after winning one flag. I guess it happens ...pies were a bust this year. Dogs kinda fell of the map after a cup. It's just so disappointing to see us fall so far from 2021 to now. If we don't make finals next year and tbh I don't see it happening, then I'd be happy to thank Goodwin for all he's done and send him on his way. I feel even now, it wouldn't be too bad to part company. I feel there is a lot of noise and distraction at the club and a fresh coach and enthusiasm would be a positive start to 2025. And a nice big broom to sweep all those who have not performed and don't want to be there. Adios amigos. I want players who are grateful to wear the hallowed red and blue and not moan about this great club. They can all nick off as far as I'm concerned. I guess what I want is a flag...... but I certainly don't want people who don't give everything or complain about playing for us. We may not be able to win a premiership but we can certainly get rid of or bench the players who don't appreciate the privellage of being a part of the best Afl club there ever was. Tx TD and DLs....I fell better now.4 points

Allow me (probably not the first) to say that we should treasure next years first round draft pick. Too many here believe it wont be an early one. Im thinking it could be.4 points

A noteworthy fact for those who think the Demons are finished as a footy team because they missed out on the finals this year with 11 wins. Of the four teams playing in semi final weekend • we defeated HokBall earlier this year 93 - 39 before it even existed as a thing; • we defeated Port Adelaide in Adelaide during Gather Round and lost to them by a mere 2 points late in the season; • we lost to the Giants by only 2 points at the MCG in the latter part of the season; and • we lost to the Lions by 5 points in Brizvegas after they received a controversial late free kick that resulted in a miracle goal from the boundary. Those three narrow defeats were all in the last half of the season when the team was wounded. Add CP5 to the lineup and who knows? We might have made the finals. Let’s also not forget that we were the first to beat the Cats, now in a preliminary final and we also lost to another finalist, Carlton, by a point in a game that could have gone either way. Still, I have to defer to that brilliant football strategist “No Diamond Left Joe” and that man who will never win a Pulitzer Prize for journalism who tell me the coach is no good.4 points

Still can't believe he kicked 7 or more 5 times that year, culminating with the 8 against North in the prelim. Such a fun season watching us in 2000!4 points

Hugh has more upside than Urquart IMO, but his kicking is very poor, for AFL level but improving. Absolute bull, with a huge tank and is fearless. Tackles with intensity and repeated efforts are exceptional. Well worth a late pick for any side4 points

IMO a good signing. Experience. Leadership. Poise. Skills. And he has really only had a couple of months of match day battering this year that should leave him quite a bit fresher than many of his team mates and opponents.4 points

Great signing. Really improved our forward line when he came back into the side with his field kicking, goal assists, and on field leadership. I know it's highly unlikely, but gee I'd love to see Melk win a flag.4 points

You have to treat the McAdam and Neale-Bullen deals separately. They're not related, even though I understand the parallels. For me, pick 25 for Neale-Bullen is an excellent outcome. I reckon he's worth a late 30s pick. But, ultimately, he's worth what someone will pay. I accept his leadership qualities are valuable, but I don't overly rate the footballer. A decent role player, but they're a dime a dozen. Too much of a fumbler with many limitations. In a deep draft this is a very good pick.4 points

Question for those who want Pert, Goofy and the entire board sacked - who are you replacing them with? No doubt you will enjoy the 3+ years being like Norf. The rest of us won't.4 points

Couldn't agree more re the leadership situation (same goes for Tmac), but also, while I know Milkshake has his detractors (on this forum at least) I am rapt he stays on for his footy smarts, skills and forward line marshalling. We are always better with him in the side, and miss him greatly when he isn't. And good on him for being rewarded for staying the course - he could have easily run up the white flag with that knee. A class act...4 points
