I know this will fall on deaf ears right now, but that was a cracking game. Both teams had so many missed opportunities. We had so many young players, we were always going to fade late. Disappointed with the result but proud of the team. Lots to work on though and a few clear gaps still in the list. Vent away demonlanders!47 points

Petty and Langdon missing easy shots that would have put us nearly 5 goals up lost it for us16 points

I'm tired of being the Lions' bunnies. Dreaming of another 60+ win against them but more realistically hoping we win - even if only by a point. Carn ya red legs!! ❤💙14 points

The lack of composure from so many of our players was just not good enough. Should have won that by 3 or 4 goals. Langdon and Petty missing regulation shots at goal, 4 times between them. i said to my family we have to take all our chances in the last, miss and we won't win. When Petty missed at the top of the last you could tell it was game over. The result was predictable after that. The only forward who looked like kicking straight was Kozzy. And again, we stopped to a walk in the last. I can only assume it's the combination of too few doing the heavy lifting. AMW a really solid debut I thought. Clarry and JVR early were brilliant, but JVR fell off a cliff in the second half. And finally, May should be told long kicks only from the kick outs or only take the absolute no brainers short. Far too often it's him turning it over from the kick in this season. Such a disappointing result. A brilliant second quarter, some good patches in the other quarters, but our inability to take regulation shots on goal and convert them has cost us one flag and will see us miss the 8 altogether this year.12 points

Jefferson is traveling with the team as reward for good form. We do this often with the younger players who are on the cusp to show them what it’s like to travel for a game and get them really involved on game day. It’s great experience.12 points

Session finished with some 'relaxed' shots on goal. My random thoughts on the youngsters: AMW - was looking forward to getting a look and not disappointed. Smooth mover and nice balance. Came across as a well put together young man when talking to the kids at the end. The thing that stood out for me was the definition of his legs, he doesn't miss leg day! Kynan Brown- odd body shape and looks a lot smaller than he is. Reminds me of a German Sheppard pup who has to grow Ito it's ears and paws. I can't wait to see what his body develops into. Looks as young as he is. Jefferson - a lot bigger than I expected. Moved well, good shot at goal. Will settle quickly when he gets his chance and I am glad we are not rushing him. Think his chest will fill out more and his strength will continue to improve. From a distance his body and movement reminded me of Charlie Curnow. Tholstrup - such a pup. So energetic and has a great swagger. He has a frame that says power and when he fills it out and develops he will be Tracc mk2. Interesting when he was having shots at goal from the boundary he really thumped the ball. Windsor - so smooth, so balanced, kicking is just so effortless for him. When he was having shots he just caressed the shots. Woey - was there but not enough in my view to see much. One of my favourites who I hold great hope for. Glad he made the team this week. Laurie - even at training I just can't see it with him. Turner - hearing him speak to the kids on the boundary he reminded me of every bloke I have ever met in Albury. (That's not a bad thing). Good strapping, wholesome country lad. He and Petty were both moving well. Happy to answer any questions, just remember that I text like a monkey on a typewriter, so be patient.11 points

Feel like that was lost on fitness. In the game early we curtailed their uncontested game and we got them out the back a few times. As the game wore on we got more and more tired and couldn’t press up as much. I don’t think it was too much of saving the game, I just think we ran out of gas in the last qtr. Petty’s miss to put us up by 28pts ultimately changed the course of the game I feel. We would have been up 2 goals to 1 that qtr but instead he missed and they go bang bang. Petty’s marking was absolutely elite, but FFS you can’t be kicking 0.4. He needs to be working around the clock on his set shots. Overall, after seeing our contested game come back I think we beat West Coast and Essendon. We’re absolutely a finals chance if we can play like that each week.10 points

We were always going to be cooked in the last. The Petty and Langdon misses costly. That though needs to be the standard in effort, application, approach and team first footy for the rest of the year.10 points

This will be a great challenge especially for the youngsters. Good luck to AMW. And I hope we win just to give a big F U to all the misery around here lately.10 points

You really actually have no idea, Fritta who I have been critical of recently played a very solid team game tonight and played as a defensive forward on Andrews. And you claim you coached Sweet Jesus9 points

I counted 12 steps on Rivs goal kicking run - rough rough call that ultimately cost the gane9 points

So close, just needed to nail 1 in the last, super proud of the effort and a lot of the team first things from tonight. No doubt those who were slating the team pre game will be out and about on this post game thread The team should hold their heads up tonight9 points

It hurts but I’m gonna focus on the positives. Claz back to resembling something like Claz. Koz lighting it up. JVR ascending. Riv looking the goods in the middle. Viney heroics with Trac out. MOW showing a lot. Mayver providing surety. Contested game was back even if we still feel a mid short. Need more from Sparrow. Ultimately though it’s given us a platform for the rest of the year which many weren’t expecting. Some better game management in the last and umpires who aren’t spineless cheats and it would’ve been a memorable win. Chin up lads and go again.9 points

Second quarter was fantastic, but otherwise we kicked three goals (and thirteen points) in three quarters. We got exactly what we deserved by returning to negative, timid football in the last quarter instead of trying to win the game.9 points

I definitely did not just Google this and found out that the reciprocal access in SA is only for 30 days per year That's a lot of money for a month of golf. To be fair $1 is also a lot of money for golf if you ask me9 points

Game day baby. Pumped! We all know it’s either a small win or massive loss. If Fritta and Clarry can get going, it’s on baby. Go Dees. Rip ‘em a new one. SN349 points

Most of us probably expected a 10 goal loss. We lost by 5 points to a good side interstate. We have so much to be proud of despite being equally devastated that the result didn’t go our way (thank you umpires). We’re a long way off sure but we played better in that second quarter than we for a long time. We deserved to win this game. I think we’re all feeling a bit like the North supporters after their last fortnight.8 points

I am going to start a petition to get umpire 22 sacked. Seriously there isn’t a fan in the AFL who thinks this fool is a competent umpire. A disgrace.8 points

Proud of the boys tonight, no expectation second quarter was the most fun I've had since 21. Lots to like about amw and kolt. Umps where horrible so quick to blow the whistle against us for the whole game , yet they swallowed it in the last 4 minutes when there where some obvious ones we should have been paid7 points

Gutted.. but, still super proud of the boys. Terrific effort in a really difficult assignment.7 points

Won last week, hoping we make it two in a row. We got the jump on North and if we can get a good start against the Lions we will be right in it. They have mental pressure on them as well, pushing for the eight, being favourites and at home. They could crack! I reckon we have always been a better away from home team. One day we will dominate the “G”, till then these away games are important to win. Play as a cohesive team, make it easier for each other, be clean with the ball, and fight for everything. Expecting a return to our best, a season defining game! Go Dees!7 points

I honestly have belief for tonight — Roos game I always had a danger game vibe, but for whatever reason, tonight with Lever back, I have a genuine feeling we’re gonna take it to them. Sure, we could completely capitulate under the weight of our own season, but Lions have a history of being happy with themselves and if I’m right in my expectation our fitness will look much better tonight, we’re 💯 legit chance tonight. Takeaway the North Umpire kickstarted comeback, we’d be about $3 if we’d held-on by 30+ — Add Lever who’s our most important player in terms of when missing, we lose — look up the history — And I think our d50 game is going to be right back to where it was before he got injured & don’t forget he was carrying a knee weeks prior to Freo game. Weird selection with Thommo in for Howes, but again I think that’s cus with Lever we want him completely free to go wherever he likes.. AMW HAS TO PLAY and not be sub for mine, really wanna see his composure and assuredness esp with Salo out, but seeing Woey on bench also means it’s 50/50 to which plays as sub.. but I’m gonna say it’s AMW! I think Petty is most confident he’s been all year and JVR is a problem match-up, I expect a full-blown fwd half game which means taking on Lions head to head in the contested game — where I think we can be hungrier and quicker if we have the legs. Riv will have to be electric, Clarry will good to avoid Berry tag, or maybe he tags Neale himself — Nibbler and Kolt being used through the middle of the ground as connecting HHF’s & conversion like LW to be excellent! Kos to slot 3, Fritta 3, Petty 2, Chandler 2 — Dees by 11pts to reignite our season.7 points

Ideally we wouldn't have so much youth in the 23 at once, but with Gus, Trac and other injuries, I think it's been inevitable. We don't need 23 stars, we need 5 or 6 stars (Trac, Clarry, May, Lever and Gawn) surrounded by good role players. Trac will be fine in 2025, Clarry will hopefully get a full pre season, Lever will enter 2025 29 years of age (enough time still on his side), it's really just May and Gawn we'll have to replace in the next 2-3 years. And it's possible Max lasts even longer. And JVR is trending in a star direction and Kozzy probably already is. If we can land a star FA like (for example) LDU to add to the midfield or even a Callaghan; and then when Max and May go, address the Max issue by trading in a competent mature aged ruckman (does not have to be a star) and hitting the FA market for a May replacement in 2027-2028, we're not a world away. Would be nice to add the likes of Bowey and McVee's ball use higher up the field, we also need Jefferson to take hold of the second key position spot next to JVR. Whilst it's been a disappointing season, we could bounce back quickly next year.6 points
