It's a section of my home made pizza and salad. Only the staff on the field at the moment. Glimpsing the red training tops,, as they meander to the truck and cover. Music beats start up, they mingle with trainers and coaches, a few doing dinky passes, coaches separate., whistle blows and they gather. Tracc is with them. No sign of Petty. Light duties, Tracc, Viney, Lever, Fritta, Hibbo, BBB. Joined the skill drills. Rehab, TMac, Tomlinson, Spargo, they are in rehab tops and are wearing runners. They have joined in the skilss drills, taken by Williams. Plenty of short kicking (look at the target then the ball, is Chocos advice). Plenty of goal kicking practice under supervision, then their out. No sign of Harmes.23 points

This is already my favourite thread This is my beautiful boy Bear. A real keen Melbourne supporter... P.S- I did want to name him Clarry since he's a ginger but my husband said absolutely not.20 points

Yeah, we know, you don't like Sparrow. Just on stats, in 2023 compared to 2022 he's averaging more kicks and disposals, double the goals, more tackles, a higher DE%, fewer clangers, more score involvements and more metres gained.19 points

Whilst the event that Daniel Hayes is referring to as the basis for the litigation has nothing to do with the MFC, I’m not so sure that the story itself is not about the club in a way. The football world knew he was troubled when we drafted him. Clearly, we as a club “took risks” when we did so and there is mention in the article that “his early days with the Demons were characterised by disappearing acts and club-imposed suspensions”. This raises the question whether we did enough to recognise why he had his issues and whether we could have done enough to help him. I’m not suggesting that the MFC should be blamed or included in this litigation but we shouldn’t shrink away from the fact that it was not so long ago that the football world wasn’t equipped to handle these issues in society - particularly insofar as it involved indigenous youth. These days, AFL clubs have mentors and others working for them who might have been able to identify the issues Daniel Hayes harboured alone. I hope he finally gets justice and finds peace and enjoyment in the game that treated him so cruelly when he was a young kid.15 points

Turns out Langers and Fritta were boys so because bylaws are applicable we had to give them back to the breeder. Not as sad as expected since Langers had begun to attack me (from behind… gutless wonder 😁). Harmesy and Melksy are girls so we’re allowed to keep them. 🥳 So we got three more babies, different breed but also chosen because of their quieter cockcrow. So far, so good. We’re 99% sure they’re girls. 🤞🏼 I give you… Goldie, Edo and Gabi, my AFLW trio. 💕13 points

I've been doing a little research on the name "Yartapuulti" and it apparently relates to that time when Port Adelaide draped entire bays at their ground with tarpaulins in an attempt to disguise the small attendances. Roughly translated, the word means "Yer tarps are ugly". To this day, Port Adelaide supporters pay homage to their heritage by singing along to the classic song "Never Tear Up The Tarps" before each home game.13 points

Bizarre tip - I'm watching AFL 360 at 1.5 speed. Robbo sounds normal and the other guys only slightly faster than regular speech. Just incredible to realise that Robbo speaks at literally 60-70% of a normal speaking pace.12 points

The value of Sparrow is irrelevant to this thread in terms of whether he is guilty or not He's one of our players and we should go into bat for him as if it's Oliver and a GF berth at stake As for the incident, both players were moving at decent speed and it just looked like a normal tackle given those circumstances It's not as if Sparrow pinned him and then drove his head into the ground. Accidents happen and football actions should not be punished12 points

What annoys me is in today's game with four umpires they didn't even pay a free kick but the lord on high decrees it an offence. Why do we have all these umpires if none of them even thought it was worth a free kick.11 points

https://www.afl.com.au/news/922166/nine-things-we-learned-freo-finally-worked-out-its-forward-line This is the thing I really hate about AFL media as a whole. Freo have finally worked out its forward line. Give me a break. They played the Swans who were without their 2 KPB's plus their best defender, Rampe. ...and the previous week, Hawthorn. I should know better, but seriously the rubbish that gets put up.11 points

It’s a legitimate and sad news story. It seems the kid could have been anything but his life in every sense, not just football, was derailed allegedly due to abuse suffered before he was drafted.11 points

Kynan played for the Ogs again in the ammos on Saturday and I was more impressed with his game this week than last. He's got good poise, is quick, and generally makes good decisions.10 points

You're a legend. Thanks so much for doing these reports. I'm wondering is it typical from what you've seen for JV to be on light duties during the week and especially at the beginning of the week. I am wondering if his foot is a permanent issue that they have to manage all the time. Mind you so far it sure isn't effecting his career best season.10 points

Beautifully said, WJ. To say this has “nothing to do with the MFC” is incorrect. He was once on our list. It’s by no means the fault of the MFC, but I like to think that our Club is open to helping this young man as he was once one of us. The Club has the wherewithal to do this. We boast having a great culture (which we certainly have) so I can’t see us “washing our hands of him” should he reach out to us. The headline is shameless clickbait. (Who’s gonna read an article titled, “Eastern Ranges player alleges senior coach raped him” ??!??) And it’s worked, clearly.10 points

Surely something similar happened in 1909 that we can reference.10 points

You need to look closer mate. Is doing a lot of great, tough defensive work, but is now also occasionally playing the attacker through the centre stoppage from the defensive side of the contest through the front. He is also a goal kicking mid. Each to their own though.10 points

Salem was very comfortable and appeared happy to be out there. Two AFLW players got some training from Mark William's. Eliza West and another I didn't recognise.9 points

My last offering on this thread. I had this bloke ( now deceased) at The Manor for 15 years. He was a Pitbull - 45 kegs of iron hard muscle. However, we raised him correctly, and he was a loving and very intelligent dog. He was a forceful but controlled guard of the property and whatever vehicle he was in. Loved children. I do believe though, that had anyone appeared to threaten my late wife, it would not have ended well8 points

The doc found it interesting and Jaded No more found it disastrous. I am leaning towards Jaded's view on this one.8 points

You are better off bringing Joel Smith to play that role. He has the height and athleticism to go with him.8 points

Grand final vibes with demons demosaw, #3 daughter and Henry the groodle. He loves watching TV especially programs and adds with animals. His favourite isn’t on anymore but was a car add with a cute poodle that needed a dog wash. Henry listens carefully to Geelong games as he hears ‘Henry!’ called out.8 points

If Christian has called it on the vision shown in the news clip then he is very very clearly being vindictive towards the club that showed him up for the absurd farce we endured with JVR last week. It is definitely long overdue for him to be replaced with an unbiased fair and intelligent MRO. Tackles such as Sparrow's occur multiple times in a game and do not get reported.8 points

Probably because the umpires might have seen the incident as a football action only HQ are running scared but when will it stop? It's a collision sport and an aggressive sport so to me, actual transgressions are easy to spot Actions like a punch, elbow, or shoulder targeting the head area is obvious. Most of the rest of it is vague and highly questionable So is a player like Dangerfield going to miss a GF for a similar incident to the Sparrow one? Zero chance7 points
-
So what would be your attitude if it was Oliver, Gawn or Petracca on the eve of a GF? Players should not miss games for incidents like this. A fine is sufficient7 points

It’s a terrible headline but a legitimate issue that deserves some focus. I recommend reading the ABC article as linked above that goes in to the specifics. I hope Daniel is able to get the help he needs.7 points

One thing that no one has mentioned is Judd Mcvee completely blanketing Chad Wingard who kept him to just 8 disposals and had zero impact on the game.7 points

Okay. Listen up everyone (including you McQueen). Stop posting about how Sparrow is a better player than Jordon and vice versa. If you still find ambiguity in this instruction please refer to @Macca posts on this topic. Thank you all for your time.6 points

It's frustrating and pathetic, but it's interesting and handy that we're going under the radar at the moment. We're in a better position than Geelong last year and have a fully fit list to choose from. Meanwhile, going into the weekend, Collingwood were only top 4 (2nd) for scores from stoppage because of their +2 advantage at contest, and nowhere to be seen on scores from kick outs and scores from turnover. This to me says they haven't been exposed by a team that either beats them or matches them in the contest, nor a team that scores big from turnovers. The team set up to do both, sitting in the top 4 for both of those scoring paths, is us. Sorry, back to death riding Freo6 points

Disagree. Reckon his ball use and decision making has improved. He lowered his eyes a couple of times nicely yesterday, and even though it's a rubbish stat, he has improved his DE in 2022 and again this year. For a guy of his position, he's going at 76.9% and is considered elite.6 points
