Would love a weekly "What they are saying in Freo" segment from LH.17 points

I'm enjoying this death ride far more than I thought I would.17 points

This is excellent loving having 2 games a week i am genuinely supporting.15 points

Seriously? He kicked four goals last week for Casey v Sydney in only his second game at this level. Tell me you don't pay attention to football without telling me you don't pay attention to football.15 points

Just some of the wisdom on the Freo board Melbourne are really going to love the top 3 draft pick we'll be gifting them this season. Great no first round pick either to at least get a bit excited about The Luke Jackson trade is a disaster and we will have to live with that but at least he's an okay player. Going to be great watch Jackson spud it up whilst Melbourne's pick 2 wins 3 Brownlows.12 points

If you're feeling a bit Browned off about all that, think of the future and it'll be Yze to feel all White again.12 points

Defenders: May, Lever, Hibberd, Brayshaw, Rivers, McVee, Bowey We always pick 7 defenders. Jordon being dropped suggests that Petty will once again play forward. It's this restructure that has cost Jordon his position (along with Pickett's inclusion). If Petty was in his typical defensive role then one of Hibberd or McVee would have made way. In all probability that would have been Hibberd, even though we look better with him in the side. So, I can understand why Jordon has lost his spot, but it is disappointing. I was at the ground last Sunday and he was very good. Viney is a bit lucky. The VC and length of tenure always buys you a bit of time. But gee, his last 2 weeks have been terrible.12 points

This little boy is an MFC and DA member. His beautiful mum posted this on our WhatsApp chat. She and her husband are bringing their two kidlets up in the very best way possible. Yep, Dees before they were even born. ❤️💙 Warning: cuteness overload comin’ atchya… IMG_5332.MOV10 points

Regarding TMac's in this week ... I think a number of us might have missed the fact that there is currently a lot of young fowards and the selectors may have wanted another mature head down there to temper any excitement (à la ANB in GF 2021 🙂).10 points

To the Richmond supporter nuffy who gave Bailey Smith the middle finger, may I remind you, you are a full grown adult male who is wearing a Richmond onesie at an AFL match.9 points

This death riding has already been a lot of fun. A top 5 pick in a super draft seems genuinely attainable. The Jackson trade, combined with the Grundy acquisition could become an amazing move, if it isn’t already9 points
-
What really surprises me tho is how much bigger and slower he looks. Did they get him to bulk up to play deep forward? It seems to have nullified his ground level athleticism. Edit: he also doesn’t look happy. He was always happy and smiling at Melbourne.9 points

Just saw the McCartin incident. Surely he has to just say this is my life and I have a long time left on this earth. It can’t possibly be worth the damage he’s causing himself. So sad to watch.8 points

The selection decision this week is a horses for courses decision. Goodwin spoke of a squad mentality in his most recent presser. JJ will get his chances this year. Bringing TMac back for Brown, and with Kozzy coming back, it was always going to be about team balance given the even performance last week. I think Goodwin pumping up JJ was the right move in the press, given by that stage they would have known we needed to replace Brown with another tall as Petty couldn't play forward when West Coast have three tall forwards to deal with. Therefore, they knew it wouldn't be a case of Kozzy just replacing Brown and leaving JVR and Petty forward. I like JJ and everything I've heard from the coaches that coached him at CGS is that he is a ripper, and that appears to be backed up by Yze's comments on his training habits. However, IMO he's a solid B grader with no elite skills. Doesn't mean he couldn't make A grade if given the opportunity, but if we lose him, we lose him. I think he'll nail Harmes' spot this year and JJ will get Harmes' contract moving forward. He doesn't make the same mistakes that Harmes does, but he's less explosive, which is part of the reason why he doesn't seem to be in direct competition with Sparrow. Anyway, people have to accept the squad mentality approach we're taking this year. It won Geelong a flag last year and in the EPL, it's the go to approach for player management. The Manchester sides have won countless titles operating in this fashion. It's the sensible approach, and with the talent we have across the squad, it keeps everyone on their toes. Making JJ the sub is an interesting one and may have something to do with the running needed on the wide expanses of Optus, but Melksham seems to me to be the perfect sub. I'd hazard a guess they wanted to reward JJ for his game and so the potential that Melksham could provide forward of centre late in the game was overlooked for the run JJ could provide.8 points

LOL. Just watching that last kick. Sydney player celebrating before it reached the goal line. What a pillock.7 points

Has any team ever won the premiership and received the #1 draft pick in the same year? Asking for a friend7 points
-
Okay, I'm being purely sadistic here but how about we aim to use our 2023 draft picks to take the best tall defender (Curtin, from Claremont) and best ruck (Edwards, Peel, and Freo Academy) just so we can watch Freo supporters implode? Handily, they're probably the two most suitable first round picks for us, anyway. I mean, recruiters always debate 'best available' vs 'needs', but I don't think there's enough consideration of merciless trolling as a draft strategy.7 points

Kyah Faris-White rucked for the Dandenong Stingrays in their 27 point victory over the Gippsland Power. He’s showing some signs and had 17 hit outs and 10 possessions for his efforts. Casey listed forward Ziggy Toledo-Glasman booted six goals. The two MFC father/sons at the Oakleigh Chargers had quiet days against the Sandringham Dragons as their team got a hammering. Kynan Brown picked up only 13 touches while Noah Yze kicked 2.1 from only 5 possessions.7 points

Freo reek of Melbourne 2019. Long season ahead for them. This deathride is going all the way.7 points

We could easily end up with something close to pick 3 this year+ Jefferson (2022 #13) + 2023 #23 to #26! Reckon Freo had pencilled in being 6/0 or 5/1 in the first part of the season. They won't get even close. Then the tough draw starts!! Happy days!!🙃7 points

Next season Foxtel will be able to use their own commentators when screening Ch.7 matches. Can't wait! BT is horrendous. That said, loved listening to James Bradshaw's GF commentary (and Daisy) 😁7 points

So as it stands it we have essentially traded in Grundy, Jefferson and a 5-10 pick for Jackson. It could end up one of the all time best trades albeit its early days.6 points

If Jefferson was 5kgs heavier in his draft year we would be licking our lips. I like his output in his first 2 games at Casey. He looks a player!6 points

I've had my doubts about him but Rankine is looking the goods so far this season. Been excellent today6 points

Oh goody, Underwood is commentating. We all knows what that means, don’t we, boys n girls?! Make mute button your friend.6 points

I think a lot of people (Not talking about me) just simply wanted to say he was stiff. Not everything needs the positive police to take their head off.6 points

Those 2 for definite. I'd add a 3rd, Jobe Watson. Finding it increasing difficult to ignore his inane comments.5 points

Just think of the possibility that we win a flag and flagmantle win the wooden spoon! When has the premiers ever gotten the number one draft pick? omg! That is mind blowing. hahahahaha!5 points

I just want to play Collingwood, Geelong, Carlton and Richmond and then finals. I've already bought my Premiers23 poster. When JJ can play like that and get dropped you know things are going very very well. I haven't been this confident since 2021 :)5 points

We’ve just beaten a team we’ve struggled to beat in the last decade by 50 points. Of course JJ is stiff, but that’s where we’re at as a club. Embrace it.5 points

so good we are in a position we’re genuinely good players have to be dropped. it’s a case of last in first out. harsh on Jordon but that’s the reality. he played well last week and he’ll be back in soon. calling this a disgrace is just embarrassing5 points
