Just an update on Kynan Brown and a little bit of Noah Yze. A contact within Murray bushrangers attended the Oakleigh Chargers practice match on the weekend against Sandringham. He's an opposition club scout. His opinion was he thought Kynan was close to BOG for the chargers playing as a midfielder. Was quite impressive around the stoppages and showed a high level of grunt and speed as well. He reckons he'll push himself into top 20 draft calculations if he keeps this form consistent all year. Noah Yze also played as a bottom ager and he reckons he showed some really exciting traits and little bit of X factor at times throughout the game. Played forward majority of the game and he reckons he's a genuine watch for 2024.23 points

I hope the man who has participated in 15 consecutive wins for us (still undefeated) is ok, as he clearly does a few things right.13 points

Was thrilled for him. He looked very good and genuinely happy. A new start was the best thing for him.11 points

He was key to structure up forward on the weekend and giving brown space, huge loss if out10 points

From the Age Match review officer Michael Christian classified Pickett’s rough conduct charge as careless conduct, high impact and high contact. Christian’s high-impact call was critical to the finding, given Smith quickly bounced to his feet, avoided an injury and played the match out. Pickett could have escaped with even a fine in the scenario the impact was judged to be low, and typically cases where a bump does not cause injury are graded no worse than medium impact. but it wasn’t high contact as Smith was hit in the upper torso. No HIA was called upon. but it wasn’t high impact as Smith got straight up and played the rest of the game. SIMPLY MUST CONTEST OR LET THIS INJUSTICE CONTINUE10 points

Simple. Jack Viney is an excellent midfielder. Angus Brayshaw is an excellent anything.8 points

I think we all agree that what Kosi did was poor and that if he hurt Smith, he'd be spending 4-6 weeks on the sidelines and rightly so. I LOVE Kosi. Everything about him is magic, including the way he plays on the edge. He scares the living daylight out of the opposition for so many reasons, and it makes him that much more of a special player. But like Viney, playing on the edge sometimes comes with consequences. I didn't like Viney putting a GC player in a choke hold 2 years ago, and I don't like seeing Kosi leave the ground to bump someone high. If Smith did that Kosi, I'd also want him suspended, regardless of outcome. I am sure Kosi knows what he did wasn't right, and he will learn from it. Unfortunately for him, the days of Uncle Byron are long gone. You must have duty of care, and when you see what someone like Gus (and many other Melbourne players, especially Daniel Bell) have gone through with concussion, it is absolutely correct and necessary. What gets me riled up is the absolute disgraceful 'superstar tax' that keeps getting applied to the likes of Buddy. While Kosi's action looked worse, the consequences of Franklin's actions WERE worse. Both deserve the same penalty, but one is the darling of the AFL, and one is a Melbourne player.8 points

The Dogs are a very bitter club and I think it starts at the top with Bevo. Always with the underdog, us vs them mentality. Their carry on post grand final was borderline insane and did nothing for their season.8 points

Great to see Dom Tyson. He gave his heart to the club during a pretty bleak period, and then was forced out by the calibre of players who’d see us forward. He always gave everything and I’m glad the club invited him to be involved.8 points

WCW it only happened once and it was more tongue in cheek after the Dogs fans booed Hunter. I thought it was quite funny and the people around me did as well. There was definitely no malice in it and it didn't continue all night. Just a bit of theatrics, which is always part of the footy.8 points

Harmes had 42 pressure acts which is exceptional. Next best was Kossie with 30. Your views on Harmes are no longer objective.8 points

Just watching "On the couch" . They asked fake Brownlow Medalist Cripps for his view on the Kozzi ( and another ) hit. A bit like getting the wolf's opinion on what sort a job the fox did in the chook house FM !!!!7 points

LJ might be finding he is not surrounded by good players like he was at the MFC. He might have to do a lot more himself without the feed he was used to previously.7 points

I'm leaning towards him staying but it will cost the club a bundle. But Friday night he was electric Often players who get reported go quiet (and he must have known he was going to get cited) but Kozzie just kept going and was extremely influential A dynamic player and clubs always find the money when they want to for such a player Jackson wasn't worth the dollars (especially as compared to what Freo were guaranteeing) so the club made an executive decision So the common sense decision is to pay him a bundle much as what we've done for at least 6 other players7 points

I don’t see the point in sticking the boot into past players. If he was not good enough to make it at the Dees, so what? It happens. If other teams want them after we don’t, then good luck to them. Baker has my best wishes.7 points

Wow I am shocked Gawn only got 5 votes. Thought he was brilliant and the most influential player on the ground.7 points

There lies the issue that so many here have highlighted Many can accept the 2 week penalty (myself included) but it's a joke that Buddy only gets 1 week7 points

I'm not aware of any horrible treatment Lever got from Melbourne supporters. I for one was massively excited. If there were Melbourne supporters treating him horribly then shame on them.7 points

Inside at marvel too. Which by the by looked awful. Jackson looked unfit to my eye - too heavy. If true, I'd be furious I I was a freo fan. You can excuse a scratchy debut. But if there is no injury, or similar (eg post season surgery that impacts on preseason preparation) there is no excuse for a boom recruit you've paid through the nose for and who you've gambled your future on (by giving up draft picks) not being in cherry ripe condition round one. Weed on the other hand looked in ripping nick.7 points

Just finished the replay and have to recognize just what a good job Tomlinson did in May’s absence. There will certainly be no need to rush him back prematurely.7 points

exactly, the notion of upgrading a low impact collision to a high impact collision when it patently wasn't is an abuse of process. if they specifically want to highlight (punish) a potential outcome they should add an extra criteria to the decision matrix rather than bastardise a existing criteria of different spcificity. kossy may well deserve 2 weeks (debateable) but the process is a dogs breakfast.7 points

The problem for Dogga is that with us he could play on potential for another 2 years and do some nice things occasionally. Freo feel like they paid a lot for him now, so they want results now. I still think he’s gunna be a gun, but they won’t get consistent value until 2025.7 points

I am stunned that some people are casting doubts over Petty. He is one of the first I would put in my side.7 points

Just saw the spot on 9 news. They Doorstopped him at AAMI Park presumably walking from the radiologist place that is there back to the MFC facility. He is adamant that he will play this week and it’s just ongoing monitoring of his Lisfranc injury.6 points

Hopefully nothing too serious. whatever about his personal performance when he plays the team plays better.6 points

This is a wonderful story, and Brian seemed genuinely thrilled with the outcome. He was my favourite player growing up, and his number 7 was the first number I had on a MFC jumper in the late 80s. I'm glad there was a positive outcome.6 points

I thought about this also. As long as Pickett feels supported and it was him that made then call then I'm happy. It's these little things that will come into consideration whether he stays or goes.6 points

Saw this wonderful news on the Melbourne Demons website in a video posted today. I can't find a direct link to it, but you can view the video on the Melbourne Football Club website. Brian Wilson, the former Demons player, sadly lost his 1982 Brownlow Medal about 10 years ago. However, it was remarkably found and landed on MFC CEO Gary Pert's desk! Gary Pert then re-presented Brian Wilson with his 1982 Brownlow Medal at the MFC's President's Club Function prior to the Demons Vs Bulldogs match on Saturday evening. This is a fantastic story and I am so proud of the Melbourne Football Club and incredibly happy and relieved for Brian Wilson and his family for having his 1982 Brownlow Medal returned. There is a news story about it via this link here: https://7news.com.au/sport/afl/tears-flow-as-former-melbourne-star-brian-wilson-is-reunited-with-lost-brownlow-medal-c-100844266 points

What a great debut by the young man #41. Fits is so well already into the "defensive unit", reads the play well, is very calm and his disposal was generally very good and sharp. I loved the baulk around Borat on the members wing. Well done. (Bowey and Rivers also did well, so when Salem does his week or two at Casey to get back into things I wouldn't like to be a selector.)6 points

I agree with the rest of your post up to this point. I think the MRO has got the Kozzy grading pretty much spot on, sadly, but with regards to Buddy - How can the "potential for injury" be graded High Impact but a player that actually caused a concussion be Medium Impact. It's utterly ridiculous and both should've been graded the same IMO.6 points

I have zero sympathy for him. This is what he wanted and so he must now put up with it. Freo FD are the actual ones to blame - they need a KPF and Jackson is not one. They should have encouraged LJ to sign for another 2 years with us and let him develop some more before recruiting a readymade.6 points
