Not sure if this link works? But he was interviewed on SEN SA this morning. Mentions JVR and Taj Woewodin as young players to keep an eye out this year. https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/NTETP1973407841?selected=NTETP340886776917 points

Grand final is the pass mark for the next 3 seasons of no major injuries harsh but a reality15 points

The Taj Woewodin probably doesn't really surprise and that's even without watching him training etc. But I was told last year by someone who had a little connection in the cooperative dealings with the club that the coaches rate Woewodin's professionalism at a real high elite level. Blew them away in a short period of time just how driven he is with his training and off field work ethic. Again, no surprises considering his old man was one of the most professional athletes in the competition back in the early 2000's with his diet and preparation.11 points

H&A pass mark: Top 4 finish Season pass mark: Prelim If we can stay relatively healthy, then I think we have every right to expect we make the Grand Final.9 points

"Port is extremely keen on Kysaiah Pickett" reminds of a time when I was extremely keen on Elle McPherson; may the outcome be the same!8 points

Doctor “Ok” P.F Ok Doctor but first I gotta get this training report outa the way! TRAINING MONDAY 30/1/2023 NO SHOWS JACK VINEY, MATT JEFFERSON, CHRISTIAN SALEM. Also did not see ADAM TOMLINSON INJURIES MODIFIED DUTIES MAX, JOEL SMITH, ANB, AMW,( NO 47 Not sure who ) and during training CLARRY ( More on this latter) SKILLS , DRILLS AND MANOUVERS After warm ups and Run Throughs, players broke of into 3 Groups doing a variety of Close in Handball through traffic to hit clean target with players pressuring. One on one groundhog day ground ball gets Telescopic Talls in Marking contest situations Pressure the ball carrier, two meters away closing fast to kick to a lead Dodge through stick men and kick for goal ( Forwards only) Greg Stafford masterclass for Rucks but specific emphasis on newbies Will Verrall and Kyah Farris-White ( Gee what a huge unit he is) Half ground transitioning including stoppage work on both boundary side wings and emphasizing manned positioning and quick breakaways using precise handballs to break out of traffic and finding leading player on lead or further handball, chip kicks to favored positions to free up play and present scoring options closer to goal. Highlight is always the full ground Match Simulations and today Two Official Umpires were in charge of proceedings adding to the Life like and professional dimensions of this aspect. PLAYER WATCH Firstly, a downside. CLARRY Is clearly still hampered by his hand/thumb injury to the extent that after one drill he went to the medico’s on the boundary and disappeared to get treatment strapping and was then on modified duties running light ball work drills but he did not play in match sims. FWIW I would be totally keeping him away from all ball work for a week or two to avoid any further damage. He is far too an important player at this point of time, but the Medicos must know what they are doing! GRUNDY put on a masterclass in ruck after being pitted against Josh Schache and Will Verell. What he also provides is run and carry, he uses handball well and is pretty good below his knees. The other standouts for me were - JAKE BOWEY, who was pitted against Kyle Chandler. He mopped up at will and was instrumental in launching attacks time and again with that precisity of kicks for which he has become adept at delivering. BAILEY LAURIE was involved in a couple of excellent passages of play and perhaps he may still be in calculations for game time this year. He was creative, smooth with maneuvering and fired creative handballs to advantage. BAYLEY FRITSCH was opposed to Pig and toweled him up kicking the Blues 3 out of 6 goals . He looks more or less on song for another standout season. PIG was good with a few good marks and line breaking run but overall Bailey got the chocolates. LACHIE HUNTER is my pick for a most important role this year. He just continuously bobs up in dangerous positions and gets plenty of the ball and sets up forwards with precise kicking and canny running. He was on TAJ WOEWODIN for a time and he got a bit of the ball as well but was no where near as damaging. TOM SPARROW Impressed me greatly today with style and flair, he looks like “He Belongs” and is gaining confidence in all aspects, a dasher with speed, he posses flair and takes the game on, His kicking to position has also improved. Although WILL VERRALL was beaten in the ruck, he showed on a couple of occasions a turn of speed when he got it and the flair which he played reminded me a bit of David Schwartz with those flashy run bys. BLAKE HOWES did a few nice things and seems to be gaining confidence, as did DEAKYN SMITH off half back and thereabouts who intercepted well on a couple of occasions and delivered to a target. I thought JAMES HARMES was very very good today in match sims and set up play after play as we know he can and does do. JOSH SCHACHE ATTACKEY took a brilliant pack mark and goaled from 40 and was busy and will no doubt come into calculations, particularly if Max is not right (incidentally, Max completed many running drills almost at 3 /4 pace and I would say he will be right back to full training next week) LUKE DUNSTAN gets his fair share of the ball, isn’t dynamic or damaging with it but is always reliable and dependable. TRACC was Trac and KOZZY was Kozzy and he looks like he will be given more midfield time this season. Same with MAYSIE and PETTY. That about wraps it up for me and I can see the Doctor and Leela coming my way Till next time cheers to all Demonlanders P.F7 points

We should try and keep Kozzie Pickett if no-one has said that already.6 points

Premiership is the pass mark. Our best 25 as a group are at the peak of its demographic. Major increase in top line talent with Grundy & Hunter. Grundy a big upgrade on Jackson in the short term with the Premiership window wide open. Assuming a good run with injuries we should win it.5 points

Tend to agree but perhaps making PF is the pass with making GF the expectation. Forward structure is the big unknown5 points

Taj reminds me of another father son in Billy Stretch with his preparation and as you know Stretch was a great influence on Oliver and probably others. I think we're already seeing the influence Woey can have with the way JVR and McVee have come back from their break. My biggest concern with him right now is whether the move to half back is wise. Obviously there's a bit of a log jam on the wing with Hunter coming in and Howes hopefully progressing in addition to Langdon, JJ, Gus, Harmes so it makes sense to move him from the wing. But I thought some of his best footy including the grand final came as a high half forward. He could develop in a mid/forward role and set his sights on being a successor to ANB in that specialist role. He has a lot of good attributes as a half back - fit, quick, good tackler, solid overhead for his size but if his kicking doesn't hold up he'll struggle to make it. Maybe half back is a good stepping stone on that journey and will sharpen his kicking and contesting work up.5 points

Anything less than 1 finals win would be a clear fail. Even 2 finals wins would be a bare pass given how narrow our window is. We wasted the past 12 months, we can't afford to go another year without genuinely contending for a premiership.4 points

Really? I still see gaps defensively, Neale still can't beat a hard tag, and on field leadership a gap. They have some guns, I just don't see the synergy, that GFC, MFC, RFC have had lately. What is the biggest improvement you see that has you buying their stock (without the 3D glasses).3 points

Get to a prelim and hopefully we have the luck from there. We need to win 18-19 games. This will allow us to rest/manage players coming into finals and give us the best chance of winning the flag3 points

I think this is all just speculation for now. He's entitled to hold off, back himself to have a good start to the season to improve his bargaining position. I'm going to hold off getting too concerned until Kings birthday. If he hasn't signed by then history says he ain't going to sign.3 points

2 out of the next 3 GFs Our list is primed, we know what it takes. Injuries are a factor but even though we bottled it second half last year we were the leading defence and ahead in every game, Key for me is how the coaching staff adapt to competitors ripping our game apart. Flexibility and unpredictability will go a long way to us succeeding3 points

Thanks dazzle love Mark Williams he brings so much to our club and his interviews provide a glimpse of what is happening at the top. Interesting that he singled JVR, Tom Sparrow and Taj Woewodin out from the pack shows that he really rates them. Probably should have said pointed rather than singled but DS can advise me.3 points

It wasn't posted on DL, but there was a Kate Roffey interview a week back on Breakfasts with Harf on RSN that mention JVR had his own fan club at training 😂 I guess it's all fluff at this time of the year but I did find it funny. Who here admits to being one of the members?3 points

Well now ..... there's a question that, being both a gourmandizer and a man with a penchant for variety, deserves some consideration. The breast, obviously, is foremost for tenderness and texture but the thigh has its distinctive attractions. These are visual, through its generally darker hue and also, on the palate, as its flavour tends to be far more robust. Some would argue that there is also an olfactory attraction relating to the thigh - but I am unconvinced. In the end one's choice often depends on the occasion and, naturally, the accompanying libation.3 points

Thought you would just use your sonic screwdriver to get through the locked gate surely?3 points

Wandered around aimlessly till saw a gate open then took my chance and snuck in. Then as I was getting ready to leave a council worker was going to lock the gate meaning I would have been locked in and preyed on by Vipers through the night. Just managed escape route via same council employee🤩3 points

Removing my red and blue glasses, I still consider us to have the strongest and deepest list which is adequately and logically supported by the Casey premiership. Pass mark for me is another flag and to achieve that I reckon we’ll have to beat Brisbane in the Granny, who imo have assembled a very strong squad.2 points

Thanks KC. Interesting additions. Cross is a midfield running type and Galvin is a strong midsized defender. Galvin should be a chance to get a debut as he’s physically ready to play (depending of course on MFC player availability). No news on Jonti Schuback? @KC from Casey Have we heard whether Miles Shepherd is returning. He was very good in a few games and I was thinking if he had another year at Casey and got more game time , he might elevate to be looked at as a rookie chance at end of “23.2 points

Don't count out the impact of losing Jackson and Bedford in this. They were Kozzy's two best mates at the club easily I reckon. Not sure he has any other relationships as close as that on the list at the moment, bar Burgyone, who isn't even on the list yet. Feel if Jackson had've stayed it would've kept that 2019 draft class together for longer, who knows what'll happen to Riv at the end of the year either, out of contract as well2 points

People are very fatalistic in this thread. Are we really this doubtful that he’ll stay at the club. I’m not convinced he’s rushing out the door at the first opportunity Lighten up folks.2 points

Genuine question. What better plan do you think the Club could have had for Jackson. Obviously it was a dud trade but what better trade do you think could have been achieved. They didn't have any better picks to offer. Similarly Port don't have a first rounder in this draft. They'll have to give up something serious to get a first rounder this year. Next year's first rounder won't do it. I hope. Surely they'd have to lose a player or players to make it happen this trade period. I'm sure the Club has tried very hard to avoid another Jackson circus so you'd have to think that's been a fail and the writing is on the wall.2 points

The Casey Demons have a trio of Dandenong Stingrays players down at training in the hope of securing a contract and joining the VFL premiers in 2023:- • Melbourne Next Generation Academy and Vic Country player Finn Emile-Brennan (18, 181cm) averaged 22.1 disposals, 4.7 marks and 7.1 rebounds in 15 matches for the Stingrays and also played down back for Vic Country in the Under 18 National Championships; • Ned Moodie (18, 188cm) had 15.5 touches, 4.7 marks and 3.7 rebounds in 11 NAB League matches games; • Ziggy Toledo-Glassman (18, 192cm) picked up 10.8 possessions and kicked 14 goals in eight appearances. Was in the Vic Country squad. • We can also expect to see a number of 2022 AFL Demon draftees on display at Casey Fields during the coming season. In other news - • 2022 Premiership coach Mark Corrigan has taken up the coaching job at Geelong VFL and has been replaced by his senior assistant Taylor Whitford. • Some retired and delisted MFC players will be suiting up elsewhere. Leading goalkicker Mitch Brown will be with Southern league club Mordialloc while Fraser Rosman has signed with Port Melbourne for 2023 and Jake Spencer who was called out of State league retirement for a surprise appearance for the Demons just before the finals will continue on locally this year, switching to Northern team Montmorency. • Premiership defender Matt Buntine will remain on the list but expects to spend more time coaching at Casey Fields and playing VAFA for Caulfield Grammarians. • Casey listed mainstays Mitch White and Jimmy Munro who were captain and vice-captain in their 2022 Grand Final triumphs will be back to defend their premiership flags. Tom Freeman is also expected to re-sign despite playing just three matches last year.2 points
