Theres a lot of recency bias in your post Tony. Its unbelievably hard for a small fwd to kick 40 goals in a season. Elliot has never kicked 40 goals in a season His highest has been 35 (in 9 seasons) Papley has kicked 40 goals in a season once (in 7 seasons) Stengle has kicked 46 g this season. His highest previously has been 8 in a season (in 4 seasons) Cyril kicked 40 goals in a season twice (in 11 seasons) and is considered one of the greatest ever If Kozzie picket kicks 1 more goal this year he will have kicked 40 goals in a season twice. Kozzie is a ripper. He is 21 yo.44 points

Foxtel to have its own commentators and graphics for all games from 2025. So you don't have to put up with the mistake riddled BT from that point onwards.11 points

Mate, if Jacko goes, which we’re hearing as of yesterday is still extremely likely, then Grundy will be a Demon. There are a couple of others that I’ll let you know about as soon as it’s appropriate.9 points

speaking of which, how come the mro haven't sanctioned buddy for staging. how come so little discussion on this bad decision (and kozzies) post game in the media if it was the filth or the tigers they would have kicked up loudly9 points

WA SEN commentator Paul(?) Haselby said on radio today that he feels Freo may be getting cold feet on the idea of investing so much money into recruiting LJ because of his very average year. It’s a huge risk for them and it would impinge significantly on their efforts to recruit or retain other important players.8 points

Just want to say Charlie Spargo is very underrated by many. He leads the AFL, let alone MFC, in hitting targets inside 50. Without him we would look a lot worse going i50.8 points

I would have been happy with the seats if it wasn't for the fact I had this jerk behind me, you would have thought that whoever took him would have told him to behave himself and respect that it was an area for Demon members. I'm a member of the legends and we pay a lot for the seats, there has been complaints that members are letting opposition supporters sit in that area. We got an email from the club two days before the last match, Carlton, that this wouldn't be tolerated and that it was for members only and the seats were not transferable. So what happens, some guy sitting in front of me brings in 3 Carlton supporters, when I suggested that they should move, he pretty much told me to p/o, I am thinking very seriously about contacting the club and they will revoke his membership.7 points

Jackson to stay, Grundy to come over. We will be the kings of the long bomb to the forward pocket for the next decade!7 points

In contrast the Swans kicked goals out of their jackson. Hayward from the boundary 50m, Lloyd off one step on the boundary , Rowbottom a dump kick that bounced over our defenders heads, Papley kicked a quick snap out of a pack from 50m. Plus the 3 goals we gifted them from 50m penalties. And the goal Gawn gifted them kicking across goal Thats 9 of their goals. We weren't that bad7 points

If I was in Freo's shoes, I wouldn't have any issue with pulling the pin. Freo have probably been courting Jackson for 12 months, and probably put a serious offer to him 6 months ago. In the ensuing 6 months, Jackson's form hasn't warranted the sort of money that Freo had allegedly offered. Plus Freo's own unexpected rise may have them having 2nd thoughts. They may think that retaining Acres and using their draft capital and salary cap elsewhere is more prudent.6 points

7 still have the worst coverage. Imagine the biggest selling point is a fat bloke with a moustache after the game not knowing any of the players name. My grandpa could do this for free.6 points

It's a fan sight, what do you expect no comment until a decision is announced? Fans on a fans site discuss things is that a surprise?6 points

I have several thousand avatars lined up, FYI Just sceptical that a club would offer a 5? 6? 7? year multi million dollar deal to the player then get cold feet after 6 crap weeks6 points

I dont think you can point to one game where Goodwn has made wholesale changes such as those you are suggesting. Its not his DNA. And he certainly won't do it in an elimination final. He will back in his players to improve. Thats just how he is.6 points

Everyone seems to be forgetting Andy Moniz Wakefield. I think he has huge potential to be a very dangerous forward and has more chance of becoming a valuable AFL player than Bedford and Chandler.6 points

Last week I went to the function that Melbourne Experiences were running, the cost was $550 per ticket, some of you may have got the email/invite to the function as well. I thought this would be the way to go as I'd be sitting among the Demons Faithful, wrong, the seats are in the Ponsford Stand, behind the goals at the City end on Level one. Anyway I had a Swans Supporter sitting behind me during the game and he never shut up for the whole of the game and I had several arguments with him, mainly about his running commentary of the game. The guy was a jerk and kept relaying everything that happened on the ground to all around him in a flat monotone annoying voice, needless to say it was a Melbourne Experience I didn't need. There was also a Swans supporter sitting at our table and he was sitting next to my partner during the game, that's when he was sitting, he was mainly standing and shouting.. Yesterday and this morning I got an invite to the this week's function and after last week I think I'll give it a miss, I appreciate that the club has to fill these functions but when you are paying that sort of money you expect to be surrounded by your own not the opposition. I'd also had two tickets up the other end of the ground and sold them for less than a third of what I paid for them, I think I sold the wrong ones.6 points

I'd be incredibly disappointed if we're not into him in a big way! Surely we're not putting all our chips into this Brodie Grundy basket ahead of McKay who fits a much bigger need for our list moving forward.6 points

Any chance they can invest in some high frame rate HD cameras so we can get footy in 4k and have goal reviews where you can actually see frame by frame what is happening (like NFL reviews) and not just a blurry mish mash of pixels?5 points

If they pulled the pin on Jackson having offered a significant deal then they lose all cred and no player manager or player would consider them in future.5 points

I know it's simplistic but the players we need to target are those at the lesser clubs (ladder wise) who are ranked in that 10-15 group at their club. Forget they're contracted just get them to say they want to leave etc. Second rounder pick gets it done. We won't stay a destination club for long... we need to deal like one5 points

I have tried over the last couple of years not to get upset at loses. You win some and lose some. If we lose on Friday night I believe as supporters we have had a good year. The football department has I hope learn some things about out list. Hopefully in 2023 we can have a better run with injuries. We had next to none in 2021 and I believe that was a major factor in winning the flag, that and not playing at the G as much. This year the injuries have been often and to good players. There has plenty to laugh about Mr. Leg.5 points

Last year we were the number 1 ranked pressure side. This year we have hovered around 17th. We are not getting the ball off our opponents in situations where we can move it forward quickly and into space. I am 100% confident that this is the reason for our forward struggles. It's also why I believe that the idea some hold that we should maybe drop players like ANB or Spargo, or we should bring in McDonald or JVR is just missing the point. Get the pressure right, and ANB and Spargo will look just fine. Having said that, the fact that we couldn't have seen any clearer what applying pressure to our opponents brought us last year, and yet we have given it up in such a huge way so quickly, says we probably aren't getting it back in the next week or so. Looks to be a huge opportunity missed for us.5 points

Bowey was drafted purely from playing as a wingman/half forward. He was a highly rated junior prospect because of his ability to get on the outside and deliver the footy with precise kicking skills. Even if he doesn't play again this year, I reckon the clubs needs to get Bowey back training with the mids and forwards in the pre season and get him playing to his strengths. Bowey's outside speed and skill is exactly what we're crying out for right at this minute.5 points

If the Kozzie infringement was incorrect then the umpire in charge of that call should have his grand final chances put in jeopardy. A massive punishment for the MFC if Kozzie actually wasn't in the illegal zone. The game was right in the balance mid way through the third qtr.5 points

I wasn’t laughing at the 50’s. Only one, the Harmes late hit was there. The other two were pathetic made up momentum stoppers and wrong. Kozzie was 20 metres away from Reid as the video showed and BT said and the May love tap on poor little Buddy, who pretended he had been hit with a sledgehammer, was downright embarrassing for the game, as all the ex players commentating on the night and since have said.5 points

So far we are infinitely ahead on the selection with Jackson a crucial contributor to our premiership while Young would not have improved the flag backline. Jackson's market value is higher than Young's, if he does leave let's see what we turn that into. We've got Bowey outside the 22 and Freo seem to rate Jackson very highly. If I had the choice between Jackson and Young in our 22 this final series there's no doubt I'd pick Jackson.5 points

I'd bring in Bowey for ANB, Bowey to the back pocket and put Salem on the HFF, setting up our passes into forward 50 aka the Gary Ablett role from a couple of years ago. Its probably the fastest way to improve our i50 efficiency as its too late in the year to train skills. Let Salem get his 20-25 touches and watch the i50's improve. Just an idea, but the simplest most effective one I can think of.5 points

the biggest change i want to see is brayshaw going back to being a defensive wingman rather than an inside mid harmes to go inside and 'run with' neale from the get go; make his life miserable i would love to see plugger mac but i'm not expecting it; in fact, i'm fully expecting 'no change'5 points

It is pretty frustrating watch us lose to the same teams (Swans and Pies), who play similar styles, multiple times in identical ways.5 points

It's fairly easy in the area where I sit, if they are not Dee's supporters they are asked to leave. Originally there were only 100 Legends members, so it's not that hard, I don't think that has changed. The problem is the guests of the Presidents club lunch migrate towards the Legends area as they are better seats and not always used. I have 6 seats in the area and went by myself one game and the seats were all occupied and when I told them they were my seats they asked me if I could sit elsewhere. I don't want to be a prat but that's not good enough, they should have to show their tickets before they are allowed to access that area, there is a guy at the top of each aisle anyway. You still get a membership card which shows you are a premium member and, in my case, a seat number.4 points

Saw some footage of training on the nightly news. I think it was on Nine. Amusingly, the reporter breathlessly told us that Spargo was still unable to talk due to his larynx injury...while the footage showed him walking laps with Fritsch AND TALKING.4 points

Have no idea about how good Stafford is as a coach. But as others have said I think this is more about the game plan / strategy. There's three phases of the game: when we have the ball, when they have the ball and when it's in dispute. We're very good at 2/3. But when the ball is in hand we are boring and safe. Whoever is in charge of ball movement / strategy needs to do a lot of work over summer. Can't blame them as it worked last year but the game has evolved. We need to as well.4 points
-
One thing I'll agree with you on is kicking low to space. I wish we would try this out a bit more. Ping it around in the 50 and worst case scenario it goes out of bounds anyway.4 points
-
Our gameplan is to lock the ball in our forward 50, and mitigate against opposition scoring on the rebound. So I'd put it down to our whole coaching dept. The frustrating thing about it is our 2 best forwards in Fritsch and Brown are natural lead/mark players, and not very good contested marks. And even if they were good contested marks, we'd have a resting ruckman competing against them. And the other frustrating thing is we 2 permanent forwards in ANB and Spargo who aren't a scoring threat to the opposition. I question whether their supposed strengths outweigh their weaknesses as forwards.4 points
-
Casboult is the one player in the entire competition that best suits our forward half game plan in my opinion. He was fantastic this year for the Suns. He would take 2-3 contested marks a game that cause teams to panic in the air, and therefore bring Koz into the game more. I’ve thought all season he’d make us a 2 goal a game better side.4 points
-
So because you want more flags anything less says the club is inept? Disregard all the other good clubs who also want flags and how difficult it is. How you need form, injuries etc to all go your way in periods when your list is in the right position. Geelong only won every second year in their dynasty, Richmond lost one in amongst theirs. Great sides. This league is hard. We’ve had issues this year and we are still contending. Calm down and enjoy having a side filled with stars. It’s not all about flags it’s about the journey your club takes you on. This journey is a great one. And it’s for years to go.4 points

I doubt Reiwoldt would be interested in playing VFL footy when he has a media career ready to go as soon as he's done with AFL and I would rather put games into JVR than a 34 year old. Great player (but past his peak) and seems like a great guy, but it's a pass for me.4 points
-
I would seriously consider bringing in Bowey for Salem but, it just won't happen. I feel like he's just been playing severely underdone since his serious knee injury. He's as a shell of himself. He's an absolute star at his best but, I feel like his body is really affecting him.4 points
