Cometh the hour, cometh the Weideman. No pressure but it’s Sam’s time to shine at night again, as he once did.20 points

Rubbish. Absolute and utter garbage. We are so far from lazy it makes my blood boil. Take a look at our draw. We keep coming up against sides with less rest and more favourable conditions. I was at the ground tonight. The players tried their absolute guts out. It’s not about want, or skill. We are exhausted, with a full day less break plus interstate travel and missing 2 of our most important structural players. The Dogs played out of their skin - but Ugle-Hagen may never kick 5 goals again in his life. He had a day out where he could do no wrong. Fair play to him but it’s not a reliable game plan. Our team is trying so incredibly hard and fronting up against a lot - and the footy gods are not smiling on us at all. You need a bit of luck, and instead we keep getting injuries and a lack of cohesion. I can’t cope with people putting down our players any more. It’s pathetic. These boys won us a flag and are doing everything in their power to go again, and a lot is going against them. Frankly they’ve been incredible.19 points

Guys, most of you will not be pleased to hear this, however, I’m going to tell you what I know. Despite the Coaches continual public support of Brodie, the Pies are keen to move him on IF they can get the right terms. Naturally, Brodie, who is contracted, will not be forced to go to a Club unless he is totally satisfied that they are a successful Club on & off the field. Right at this minute, there are just two Clubs that have had preliminary discussions with his management to get all the facts around his current contract, where his head is at, his physical condition etc etc. I can tell you Melbourne is one of those two Clubs. A lot of water to pass under the bridge, and I’m not saying at this point in time that it will happen, but I think it’s perfectly reasonable that the Dees would explore this in the likely event that Luke Jackson departs.18 points

If Jackson was to stay for 2 years than leave but by doing so cost us Brayshaw I’d rather he go at seasons end and Gus remains a demon for life.12 points

Nathan Jones also cited the example of Tom Boyd whereby earning an exorbitant amount of money for a 21-22 year old can actually do more harm than good for one’s mental heath. The pressure of being the highest paid player at the club at such a young age could really be harmful to a kid’s development. Jones advised to LJ to re-consider the Freo offer by staying at MFC where he can still learn off Gawn, earn a bit less money and relieve himself of excessive scrutiny and pressure.12 points

The premiership cup spent the morning at an Auskick in the heart of Doggies territory, Seddon. All the kids in Dees jumpers also linked arms and sang Freed From Desire. I’m calling it an omen.11 points

So many threads detour to Sam bashing and the pile on is getting tedious. Ask oneself a question: Is he doing the best he can? If the answer is 'yes' then folks should back off. His best may not be enough for some but it is all that can reasonably be asked.11 points

Dogs played better than us in the second half. Dogs also kissed on the D by the umps. Every 50/50 went against us but given to them . May brain fart kick across goal and kozzie miss cost us. Still annoys me ugle Hagen was gifted to the dogs and they changed the rules straight after . We are still second and destiny in our hands . Bulldogs played their grand final and as good as they can. Us still room to improve not slitting my wrists yet.9 points

For an article titled “How Freo can land unicorn”, the author spent very little time explaining how Freo can in fact land the unicorn.9 points

Relieved (and happily surprised) to say I made it back, apart from a few “lost days”, relatively unscathed from Bangkok. I spent a fascinating few days there, watching @Sir Why You Little ( the Buddha of Soi 4) hold court under the verandah of a local hotel, surrounded by his adoring acolytes. All the while wearing a premiership jumper and swilling whisky! His acolytes BTW are best described as a ‘colourful” group possibly sharing ….err…. err ….well … let’s say common pursuits. Now to avoid possible lawsuits , I’d best get to the footy. We must win - simple as that. Weid gets another chance - good luck to him. Milkshake also has a chance to cement his place, so he will be desperate . Expect Clarrie to run through brick walls. Another blinder from Kozzie would be handy. Dees by 29 points.9 points

Didn’t cost us the game or anything but…Medical sub for ‘calf tightness’ - cmon!. Wish we took the p*** out of that rule as much as other teams do.8 points

Please, umpires didn't decide the result. Dogs thoroughly deserved the win. Played like their season depending on it, and did some pretty impressive stuff. Still, f**k me May, wtf8 points

wow, that ryan daniels article was typed with one hand on the keyboard and one on purple, wasn't it? pure fantasy and nothing to do with how they ACTUALLY get the trade done "we're going to keep all our players! and be able to pay jackson!! HUZZAH!!!"8 points

Annnnnnd nearly every comment is about a depth forward brought in as a late change... All this 'time to shine' 'last chance' 'make or break' kind of commentary is just over the top, which is what we've probably come to expect with commentary around Weideman. He won't win or lose us the game, just needs to contribute to the forward line in a comparative way to the coach's expectations and role. Need to get our clearance quality consistent now as we head into finals, it's been a bit up and down all year and IMO will be one of the keys to the game tonight. Been loving what seems to be some new aspects to Kozzy's role too, been given more space to be an attacking forward and he's been sensational, would expect that again tonight so if Spargo and ANB can lift their delivery I reckon we could actually kick a decent score even without Brown and TMac. As a side note, given the stakes for both teams it could also show us how genuine this 'animosity' the media have driven is between the two clubs.8 points

Just a quick observation about his goals in Alice. In football/soccer there is a Hat trick and then a 'Perfect Hat trick' - where the scorer scores one on their left, right and a header. Kozzie essentially did the same for 5 of his 6. One on his left, one on his right, a volley!, A mark and goal from on 50, and a goal beyond 50 on the run... I really think this should be highlighted. 😎8 points

A bulldog mate of mine, said Melbourne were in the back of bulldogs players all night and we had the rub of the umps. I’m off to bed, cause I’m either [censored], demented or blind. I’m now culling friends7 points

Dogs were slick. We had our opportunities to win but didn't take them. Kosi twice. Trac. Umpires got in the way with missed frees and awarding them frees. We were sloppy with ball in hand. Would have been fun to watch as a neutral, but as others have said, defensively speaking there's no way we would have wanted that kind of a game. We're off. No doubt about it and we need to find form soon if we want to contend. Win two more and we're top four. Get it done.7 points

TF are you talking about, he took one step and got tackled yet apparently that's HTB? Umpiring went one way in the last quarter, I swear I saw multiple instances where we'd get tackled and dispose of it yet they'd call HTB prior to a handball or kick. Yet Dogs players can have all day and eventually throw it out - play on. Just garbage.7 points

GWS is the other Club at this early stage that has approached his Management. BTW, I agree with all your points, however, please realise that a great Organisation explores every possibility as to how they can get better. Clubs talk to Managers about a lot of Players but only a tiny % go anywhere. Who knows where this will go, but I just thought you guys would like to know.7 points
