Last night I spoke to someone very close to Luke Jackson that told me "he's definitely not leaving Melbourne". Can't say anymore than that, I don't care if people question my legitimacy. You can take it or leave it, I'm not fussed.15 points

Spoke to a few club people about this. We need to bide our time. Its all happening behind the scenes but the club can't say anything lest they upset one of the 20 or so stakeholders. Part of the problem is that there are so many fingers in the pie with regard to getting sign off. Melbourne Parks Trust, Olympics Park Trust, the City of melbourne, the State government, the Tennis Centre trust etc etc. There are 3 separate Ministers that have to sign off any proposal and given its location there are no votes in this at all for the Govt. We have all heard it before but I am comfortable giant strides have been taken towards a solution.9 points

I loved the part at the end when we were over ten goals up, and Trac notes that when May told him to defensively man up, he told him to smile as we were home. For that, he copped 30 seconds of abuse from May and Viney, who overheard him! I love this; it speaks volumes to the team's commitment to be honest, and open with professional feedback at the start of the year.9 points

I liked Trac commenting about the look in his eyes when walking back to the centre after his dribble goal. He literally looked like a man possessed. One of several iconic moments from that day. Great production btw. Congrats to those involved.7 points

Let it go, mate. Who cares about Bell. It backfired spectacularly on him. We got May and a premiership.6 points

You gotta laugh that May and Viney were not letting themselves enjoy a premiership win until the final siren, when it was damn obvious we had won with about half a quarter left. I also liked Gawn's comment that at half time May came in ready to punch someone.6 points

Could have also gone with any of the following... "Full forward takes on the full vax" "Just this once, blokes rapt Darl changes mind" "Jack's vax backtrack wacks fullbacks, racks back stacks to tax" "Eagle's needles" I'll see myself out...4 points

If we start the season off well I can see us easily cracking 65,000. People won’t want to miss out on finals guarantees and so forth.4 points

None of us really know what Gus is really thinking but one thing is for sure is that he is an all in member of a selfless Team working as one unit to bring about success and frankly I do not believe that he would be playing the Club Unit off against his desire to play on the ball. I guarantee you that the Coaches and more so the players know that they are getting the best out of Gus in the position he plays on the wing. Gus I feel would absolutely embrace that concept of Team unity and he would know mentally that he is helping the Team effort without ill feeling about where some want him to play. He is bigger than that.4 points

On a few occasions the player agent said that Melbourne gave the best presentation they’ve ever seen, amazing to hear. On Jackson, his name was only mentioned because Cerra was keen on Melbourne however his agent said Fremantle would probably want Jackson, and that’s not going to happen. It was Cerra’s agent who brought up Jackson by name, no one else. Let’s not look for something that isn’t there to create drama when it’s not required.3 points

Max not in because Jacko will get more game time? Pendlebury - are you serious?3 points

Loved it back in day when your membership card was punched at the gate by an old boy wearing a vest and a tweed jacket. Bring it back.3 points

Obviously any selection is only a guess at this time of year ...... but to leave Max out ..... stupidity. I reckon the practice game he played against Carlton was off the the planet and Brownlow votes worthy. Not a bad start to the season.3 points

How long will Zanker’s quad keep her out? Hopefully not long. Replacement Gillard has impressed in her 2 games. Mick Stinear to do some shuffling. Maddie Gay to the midfield? Dees must win at Fortress Casey against the improving Blues this week to secure a top 2 position and a week’s rest. Even better if we improve our percentage above Adelaide’s. Linton St is a hellhole and not nearly as friendly as Norwood Oval, so who knows? Dees women to emulate the men and win the minor premiership. Dees by 17 points.3 points

I haven’t heard “homesick” from any of our interstate recruits since Mark and Debra Brayshaw started taking them in. You’d be mad not to keep top quality people like the Brayshaws at our club!3 points

Who cares? In the midst of the greatest 2 hrs from 57 years why nit pick. Anyone who bags Max for anything he has done in the last 5 years or so is just a loser who enjoys the argument. The guy is a living, walking all time legend of the club. Why would anyone want to get into an argument about the great man over that? I suppose he should have also not had his arm so vertical here. Did that outrage also?3 points

Nah I'm lucky I have great in-laws, and if she has decided to jump on the Demons (mainly because of her grandkids 😉) she can't be too bad 🤣3 points

That sure makes it confusing. I'm pretty sure this bit: You will no longer need to redeem a ticket via Ticketek refers to last year when covid rules applied to ticketing and venue access. As far as I can tell, a barcode (ie on an electronic ticket from Ticketek or MFC app for members) is needed to get into the MCG. No paper ticket or plastic member card entry will be allowed. Edit: Don't know what happens for 'tickets' sold at the gate or if walk-up are allowed.2 points

SWYL, that was written last trade period when there was talk that Freo wanted Jackson for Cerra. But I get your sentiment and I'm sure we all share it.2 points

Putting together the 22 for wednesday, it is a bloody good team. but when you look at the depth after that, it isn't big for mature midfielders. Luke could be very important and play 15+ games or if we lucky with injuries again he might hardly get a run he was a good pick up2 points

I don’t get how anyone could think of leaving to “have a crack at a Brownlow” vs stay to try win another premiership with your best mates. I know which one I’d choose. If it comes down to money, that is a different thing. I think the wing suits him, now he has warmed to it. He has a good overhead game. His kicking can be hit and miss but generally makes good decisions. He’s brave as anything and is a good inside/outside mix. He’s not explosive enough to challenge our current centre square crop, but saying he’s “just a role player” down plays his very real physical and mental attributes. He’s a gun, and a team man, and worth some coin.2 points

I loved the new angles and the footage at half time and the boundary line discussions. Really good watch - I found myself talking back to it in a rather pumped up manner.2 points

The club is doing a really good job lately of pumping the supporters up for the season.2 points

If it can be used by a number of clubs in different codes, not Collingwood or Richmond, but other sporting clubs. then the political pain or gain is spread over a far wider audience and can be more easily justified. rather than to be seen to be favouring a self righteous Liberal voting MCC offshoot. whether that last comment is right or wrong is not important. It needs to be seen as equatable within the Labour Party membership. like living in Warrnabool area. nothing gets done down here because the area always votes Liberal. Libs don’t have to do anything and Labour gets no benefit if they do because the area will still vote Libs go Dees B2B in 222 points

You obviously have high regard for your mother-in-law, such a worthwhile gesture. I'll let you in on a secret, Dr G - I failed to have the same level of regard for my mother-in-law. She was a classic case, absolutely difficult at the best of times. She has now passed away but still the memories reside. To quote a very truthful joke from Rodney Dangerfield - from several years ago - an apt descriptive might well be: 'My mother-in-law is such a terrible cook and host that we say grace after the meal!'2 points

Signed up again Tuesday as a Interstate member and also paid for my twin Grandsons, which I have done since they were one (now 16). Lady I talked to said we are at 46700. This is very good as we should be close to 50k by first game. Let's hope so.2 points

The leadership shown by Goody and Gawn at half time is why we won. Just kept the players calm and got them to re-set and go again, when they could have easily crumbled. We have a special, special group of players now.2 points
