  1. Whenever I see another Demon supporter, I cannot help myself ... I say "how about those Dees?" or "Go Dees". It invariably leads to a pleasant conversation whereby happy memories are revisited. Have never had a neutral (or worse) response. What a great tribe we are part of !! Tonight it was at the Terminus Hotel in Clifton Hill. I met 2 lovely ladies, one of whom said she was a long time lurker on this site, but not a poster. She (Leah, who was wearing a premiership t shirt) said if I posted on this site tonight, she would post a "like". Let's see if she's true to her word.

  2. So Burgess and Griffith are big on heat training as a way to increase the body’s ability to increase what it can do. While I didn’t give you any ‘heat’ I did roll my eyes intensely at your posts because these people are professionals. It’s not an oversight - it’s the point. And their practices helped us win a flag. Burgess talks about heat training in his podcast with Peter Brukner. I would advise you give that a listen.

  4. This Clayton Oliver podcast popped into my feed. He is in relaxed form and gives some insights into his early career and from the Grand Final. Credit to Dylan Buckley (I've never listened to his podcast before) he is a good interviewer.

  6. He has the potential to be one of the top players in the comp in a couple of years, it would be madness on his part to sign a long term deal at his age despite how much I'd love to see it. I'd be happy with a couple of year extension for him and a long term deal for Clarry.

  7. Dunstan certainly looks fit, not an ounce of fat on him so he looks like he will give it a big go.

  9. It needs to be done the other way around - the footy needs to be scheduled to fit into existing events and festivals which are already established and a part of the tourism circuit. Around Alice and the centre you have the spectacular Parrtjima Festival, which is in April next year. For Darwin games it needs to be later in the season, in July-August, when the Garma Festival, the Indigenous Music Awards and the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair are all grouped together for the purpose of attracting visitors to multiple events. Then the clubs and AFL can look at offering package deals where you can mix and match for the itinerary you want. Unfortunately, as @Jaded No Morepoints out, travelling the NT can be wickedly expensive.

  16. I've enjoyed reading all your personal interval training stories. Personally, my interval training over the last 12 months has been superb. In November 2020 I walked down to the Queanbeyan post office to mail my membership subs to the club. Did the same three weeks ago. Never felt better.

  17. I see Dogga's personal trainer will be working with Woewodin, Van Rooyen and McVee in Perth. I'd say given the timing they will all be coming over to Melbourne after Chrissy due to border restrictions. Different world we live in, but it is amazing how much young players are being trusted to do the work. Wouldn't imagine this would be the case 20 years ago.

  19. I have been all over the world, but have never been to the Alice (or NT for that matter). I was going to go last year, and all things being equal plan to go to the game next season. And combine it with a holiday up there. Agree on making it a blockbuster. It sort of was the year 7 and the AFL put money into it, but it has tailed off since. But now that we are premiers, we have some serious drawing power and cred. I reckon they should make it an annual game against the eagles. Two big clubs from opposite sides of the country. Both teams are likely to be in final contention for the next few years (the eagles more from a perspective of the advantage they get playing home it must be said), so the game will always have a lot riding on it. And both clubs have worked hard to build connections with aboriginal communities. Given we own their home ground, happy for us to play our home game against the Eagles at the Alice.

  20. When I arrive at Richmond station and the sign says train arriving, I run up that ramp and get onto that first carriage before they close the door. Then I stand there while the train departs puffing and panting in what looks like a massive asthma attack. The ramp up is about 25 metres. Fair distance really. For me.

  21. I've found I'm getting a bit of "I'm not a Dees supporter but I know someone who is" and "I'm not a Dees supporter but my [insert family member] is". 'Tis a Tardis-like bandwagon😄

  22. Another JT gem ! A very impressive young footballer who looks every inch a 200 gamer for us. Incredibly brave and skilful and now a Premiership player after only 7 games. Ballsy decision by the selection panel to go with Bowza in the finals. Looking forward to a great 2022 from him.

  25. Smoke and mirrors. He will sign 3-4 years. The one I am a little concerned about is Clarry only signing on for another 2. I have said it before I would have signed him on for the time that we signed Viney on for and signed Viney on for 2.

  26. What a start in (football) life for these boys. Picked up by the best team going around, then mentored in their training by a future star of the game and premiership player. And he's just a boy himself! GO DEMONS!!!

  28. I'm rather hoping that the poos/wees stay towards the bottom of the latter, and become largely irrelevant. Sacking Clarkson was madness ... and hopefully a curse (like the Norm Smith version) ensues.

  34. I reckon the leaders like Lever would be hyper-aware of the potential for players to come back lacking 100% focus and that rabid hunger. They wanted to set the example of going flat out on day 1 of preseason. Great leadership by Lever and crew. literally push yourself until you can give no more

  36. Now the bolded bit is something i can relate to. After many years of hard partying in my younger days, i learnt to pace myself much better. First rule of partying - put the base down or ya gonna go face down (translation: have a solid feed before your first drink, or face the consequences) Second rule - don't go too hard too early Third rule (only applicable if the first two rules have been followed) - don't stop until the sun rises (and even then it is negotiable) As for being better for it, well that is disputable.
