Two more girls have now come out and said they've received inappropriate picture from him. There seems to be a Patton going on here. Thank you very much..29 points

I’m not specifically referring to Patton here but the mind numbing stupidity of how people use social media never ceases to astonish me12 points

Of all the set backs he’s had with his body this is the first groin complaint as far as I know.11 points

It would appear that General Patton has a Major Problem with his Private Parts. Would Hawthorn consider Corporal Punishment?8 points

Even if I had a budgie I wouldn't line the poor bird's cage with that front page. Too disgusting to even think about. Bird's doings couldn't give any more stink around this. All I can say is WHY? He must have slept through every talk ever given by the club on expectations of behaviour.5 points

You're entitled to your opinion, but there's whole massive threads devoted to arguments on Goodwin's, the club's and in some instances individual player's capabilities. There's literally one on the pressure being on Goodwin active right now, so why derail a training thread into another argument on this stuff? Is there a goal here, other than to provoke a response from one of the board's optimists? If you had a particular reason you thought the social media or the training exhibited in this thread was a problem for the club then go for it, but making generalistic statements about how good/bad Goodwin/the club/etc are should be left to the threads about them, otherwise you'll come across as trolling.5 points

Last week on the ABC Mick Malthouse said that he was stunned that MFC got Brown so easily, and that he thought Brown would make a big difference to to the Dees4 points

I'm no longer buying into any preseason hype videos. We've missed the finals 2 years in a row and played well beneath ourselves accompanied with some terrible coaching. Top 4 or go home.4 points

I saw a pile of herald-Suns near the checkout at my local safeway, saw that this 'headline' took up most of the front page. I thought it was a typically low act from an organisation with a history of action from the gutter. There is a whole lot more going on in the world than something Patton is alleged to have done.4 points

AFAIK Petty is in full training with defenders #19 = Fraser Rosman3 points

You are not alone Bbo. Especially when the players are all warned on numerous occasions. As I have often said being able to play football well does not make a rocket scientist.3 points
-
Actually, there is a reason. First, pretty sure if you spend under the cap, you can bank the difference and go over the cap next year. Second it leaves room on the list to fill a need midyear if you have injuries or glaring deficiencies.3 points

I gotta say, I get completely baffled as to why guys thinks it's ok/a good idea to send pictures of their junk to women without it being made clear that it's something they want. What a nob-head Patton is, so glad he's gone to Hawthorn, they're made for each other. Will be very interesting to see the response from the AFL on this.2 points

While I respect your opinion your very guarded almost negative ( half glass empty) Questioning of BBB's suitability for our forward line and apprehension of his role as the spearhead plus his fitness capability Is really almost a smear against Ben and our Coaches and players. Here we have a bona fide A grader to add plus a group of highly rated new recruits specifically chosen to add and be given a great opportunity for our forward line to add further dimension/s to our scoring potential. It is challenging for all but no more than what the Coaching additions have proven they can deliver for other teams. My answer is a resounding YES to both of your doubting questions and believe a majority of Demons fans are positive about this influx of talent to both our playing and coaching ranks. I am so positive that a Finals berth is realistic and higher honours not totally out of the question. Your predictions ???2 points

News Corp had no issues naming him. https://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/afl/melbourne-demons-coach-simon-goodwin-becomes-third-afl-coach-to-split-from-wife-ng-b881765479z It’s sad for him and his family, but from a pure footy sense, let’s hope this doesn’t distract him from the huge job he has in 2021.2 points

It would seem that the many people praising Hawthorn for the bargain trades of Scully and Patton may have been a long way off the mark. Two very underwhelming footballers. As for Patton, if the screenshots are genuine, he's a ____________.2 points

From the minuscule scraps the club media department are feeding supporters; some speculative pre-season conjecture. Tom Petty still in rehab? #19 has a decent frame.2 points

Not sure how Brayshaw and Harmes can step up next year (after poorish seasons) when Petracca, Viney and Oliver own the centre square. Brayshaw is an absolute inside midfielder by trade and is simply not that good as a winger or flanker with only limited inside minutes. I could be wrong but I assume that Brayshaw played far more minutes in the guts in 2018 when he finished 3rd in the brownlow. Harmes clearly has played his best AFL footy as a run with player in the midfield, as evidenced by back to back BOG's (according to the coaches votes) in 2018 in round 23 and the week 1 final V's Geelong. He hasn't really provided any point of difference as a half back flanker. Petracca clearly can be thrown forward more often, but Viney is untried as a forward and Oliver never really provides scoreboard pressure when he's resting forward.2 points

The point is HFF That Simon has made efforts to gain further knowledge and skills In his own time BUT as usual you are determined to criticise or diminish some moves ( by the Club ) or individuals and give very little or no credit for initiative or Learning. Also please Give an example of what Simon could get To further his knowledge here or OS! That would qualify for a tick from you!!!2 points

Correct but they fill a gap and I used to enjoy going to them a couple of times myself. But alas none this year.2 points

When BBB was at North and producing some great footy kicking multiple goals I was thinking this is someone that would be good to have being tall and hard to match up against. Going back as far as 2014. However one player that l would hope be injured was BBB when playing North. Never in my wildest dreams thought that we could get him at our club. . I wait for the day that he runs out with the Dees as well DZ that is a thrill for me. I rate him highly.2 points

If he's good enough, he's good enough and if not, he won't get picked up by Melbourne. Don't forget that none of the 18 clubs were impressed enough to draft him when they all had the opportunity. The fact that he's Jeff Farmer's son is completely irrelevant and doesn't justify blind optimism.2 points

He needs to do more when he gets the football, IMO he just lacks X factor. He works hard defensively inside forward 50 and applies pressure with tackles (which need to stick more). IMO he's just like 50 other players, nothing really stands out, which is needed at Kobe's size. So he needs to either build strength/power and become a pressure forward who causes chaos with turnovers or start to really hurt opponents on the scoreboard I basically think his skills are average and need to be pushing elite with his size2 points

1. Harmes - Was a damaging weapon with his ability to shut down the oppositions premier ball winners and hurt them the other way. Has the ability to hit the scoreboard and seems to be lost in the back half. Perhaps a return to a mid/forward role will be the catalyst required to return to form. 2. Wiedeman - The time is now for the weed to impose himself in the forward half and become a consistent threat. With Brown taking the number 1 mantle and defender, conditions are primed for him to cause headaches for opposition. 3. Brayshaw - We've all seen him at his best and want him to return to that form as soon as possible. Delayed start to pre-season with a foot injury so has a bit of work to do to catch up. Time for him to stamp himself as a starting centre square mid or at least in the first rotation. 4. Petty - Have high hopes for him as a key position player and suspect he will he more suited to the backline. Only had the few games to show his wares but displayed great hands and reading of the play. I believe he would suit as the second key back position allowing lever to zone off more and enable him to play his intercepting game more effectively. Has shown he is capable of holding his own and providing a target in the forward half. 5. Rivers - Love the kid and was stoked he slide through to us on draft night. Will be vital in the back half as our defence unit goes through a small transition period with the likes of Jetta and Hibberd moving into the end stages of their career. Apologies to T-Mac, Lever, Pickett, Sparrow and a more accurate Fritsch. Players like Gawn, Oliver, Petracca Langdon and May are crucial to our performance and I have high expectations for them to perform regularly.2 points

In my view mostly mediocre teams win games with match day decisions. It’s usually the excuse for why an upset occurs. The good to great teams just play their way better for longer, week in week out and have players crystal clear in their role. I would argue Hardwick is not a much better match day coach, he hardly makes any moves unless out of necessity. The team just play their style of footy better for longer. Aside from Cairns we started to have a clearer view of what we wanted to do and started to settle on who did it where. For too long last year we heard we were unsure of our best set up, this lack of confidence to back a set up really hurt us. The year before, injuries and interrupted preseasons robbed us of having fit players to execute our best set up. As others have mentioned we need to be clear how we want to play, put players in the role they are best suited, train them in it and back it in. The quicker its engrained the more chance we have as the list has the quality and maturity to deploy it better for longer more often than not.2 points

I am really looking forward to seeing BBB line up for us at FF, how good will it be to see a genuine quality FF lining up for us, it has been such a long time in coming can you just imagine the excitement when he kicks his first bag of 5 goals at the “G” we will be delirious.!!!!!!1 point

To put this into perspective, you have to keep in mind that this poster also insists that Trump won the election, COVID-19 is a hoax/no worse than the flu and that there was no riot at the Capitol building this week. That's not "higher plane". That's a plane that lacks a pilot and has never got off the ground.1 point

Weiderman - I really think he has the talent to be a top 10-15 forward in the competition, I think it’s largely down to confidence so hopefully reaching out to Jonno Brown will help Ben Brown - big off season recruit, naturally would like to see him do well and create a dangerous Buddy/Roughead-like combo with Sam Brayshaw - I feel like Angus needs clear direction as he is better than what we saw largely in 2020. Unfortunately I think it’s a bit to do with Viney’s style, this gets sorted and we get back a player who came 3rd in the Brownlow Kozzie - 2020 was a year of “almost’s” for Kozzie. His first shot at goal should’ve gone through the big sticks after creating a great opportunity. He got into dangerous positions lots of times but failed to finish too many times, hopefully a year of experience will help with him taking these chances in 2021 May - had a cracker of a 2020 and it was a disgrace he didn’t even get into the AA squad. I want him to back it up in 2021 and demand he be given AA honours1 point

Sam Walker was the founding editor of The Wall Street Journal's sport section and its global sports editor for a decade, covering elite sport around the world. For the book he spent over a decade analyzing data and records and interviewed hundreds of people (coaches, players, managers, owners, administrators etc etc) involved in elite sporting teams across the planet, including Collingwood. Sure its ones man's opinion but he has done the work to back up that opinion. And it is pretty convincing argument I have to say. Don't worry about the essay on why Goodwin is the majority reason of our stagnation. But can you provide some evidence there are 'many footy experts both in the media and or who work within the AFL who know full well that Goodwin's shortcomings as a coach in a variety of areas are the main contributing factor as to why we are a middle of the road side right now'. It shouldn't be difficult to do so since apparently there are so many football experts who hold this view.1 point

Call me a glutton for punishment but I watched the freo game last night - Goodwin either had a bad day at the office or, he has no idea. I like to watch games we lose to see where it was lost and where we can improve.... This game was lost not only at selection, but game style. If not for inaccurate kicking from freo we should've been at least six goals down at half time. We played a hard running hand ball game in driving rain ! We were often caught out of position and freo caught us on the rebound and made it look easy...... Can you believe it ? Also, Please remember that we were beaten by a first year coach while we were a team fighting for finals. I'd like to share your enthusiasm that he is a good coach - lets persevere with him - it's our year, BUT if we are down 2 and 4 at the end of round six next year and that is assuming we beat Freo (ha! ha!) and Hawthorn it will be the SAME OLD !1 point

Wowsa you've missed out arguably the most important responsibility a coach holds. Gameplan. Since 2018, Goodwin has been too slow to make changes to an unbelievable one-dimensional game plan which in-turn has seen us select the same side for too long, have the same problems during games for too long and lose games in a similar fashion for too long. Goodwin is largely responsible for where we are as a club. The two losses you speak about can still be linked to the same problem areas we've seen for this entire period I'm speaking about. It's nothing new.1 point
-
And a decent, consistent game plan that is consistently trained and drilled into all players. Not to mention putting players in the positions that maximises their strengths. We have the 5th eldest and 7th most experienced list. A list built under Goodwin's watch. If he doesn't have the cattle he has only himself to blame. Its worth noting that about 10 of Collingwood's 2010 premiership playrs were rookie recruits. Its what a coach does with the cattle that counts.1 point

I believe that Goodwin will improve in a few ways this year. He has a team around him that he just has to listen to. First thing he needs to do is to work out where the players play their best footy and then coach and train them during the pre season to give them the best chance to excel in those positions. Next he needs to do better at selection. Select a team to play to a plan against that week’s opposition. No favourites and no selections on what they did last season. last, plan your game day coaching. Be prepared for a number of eventualities and be flexible and proactive. I can live in hope...... can’t I?1 point

I once asked that the Club stop sending a scarf with my membership pack but to send me current year cloth badge instead. Then I would be able to sew this onto my scarf. Thought it would look really cool to have years and years of membership on the one item and would eliminate the issue of too many scarves, too much waste.1 point
