  1. I suspected there would have to be at least one fool suggest Frost be dropped. If Frost were to be dropped, which won’t happen by the way, there would never have been a player dropped previously that has come off such a solid bank of games. Last night he soundly beat Tex Walker, a 400 career goal kicker, and you want him dropped. WTF.

  2. Jesus. Viney finally starting to find some form. Last game he looked fitter and able to do more and last night I thought he was one of our best.

  3. Things I liked: We lowered our eyes and had some ripper 'bullet-like' kicks i50 from Hibberd, Fritsch, Viney, Jones. A proportionately higher no of shots for goal were take from the centre i50 whereas in the past they have been taken out wide. Helped our early accuracy. Some delightful goals were kicked: Petracca from 50m, Oliver from near 50m, Weideman from near the boundary. We didn't let up. Weideman took really good contested marks. Most of all, we got our ferocity back! Especially in the first half. That Tex had another bad game. We lost but those improvements will help win quite a few more games this year. A bit late for finals but am happy the season will end on a high.

  4. @prodee and @wiseblood I think you'll find they stopped posting because this is such an awful place after a loss and most of the comments and suggestions are extreme with many just plain dumb. Like me, I imagine they are after sensible comment (like Scoop above) and not emotional sentiment with no intellectual content. They read because there are some good posters, which is why I'm here now (because I saw the last post was by P-Man who I like). I don't know if it's been said before in this thread but whilst I'm very disappointed about last night I'm much happier than I was after the GWS game. We played well. We saw continued proof that Oskar will be a good player, we saw we can compete with a good team with our second string backline playing, and I mean our VFL backline playing bar perhaps one or two. May, Lever, Jetta, Salem and Hore playing and do you think we lose that game? The criticisms of JKH are silly. His second game since March and he was rusty. 22 possessions, 6 tackles and a few wonky kicks. Who would have thought? Viney to be dropped and is a one trick pony. Is that a thought you really want to read? What planet does that come from? 15 negative comments from Joeboy when we lost a game we completely outplayed the opposition in other than on the scoreboard. Really? It shouldn't surprise you that many of the better and more sensible posters just can't be bothered. I'd love to see how many people who talk about the dangers of social media and bullying posted in the Oscar thread.

  5. Fair dinkum some of the comments on this pathetic excuse for a thread (i mean a time to go oscar thread - really?) are beyond the pale. Don't rate a player. Think he should be dropped. Don't think he is up to it. Fine. Resorting to personal attacks is simply not fine. Pathetic and gutless. Social media at its gutter worse. Grown men (i'll bet london to a brick almost everry comment on this thread is from a bloke) venting and spewing insults on a young fella who's crime us to be selected in the side they purportedly follow. If you have an issue with his selection take it up wirh Simon Goodwin. And if you have the mettle do so to his face.

  6. Given JKH has not played a senior game this year I didn’t think he was too bad. I actually thought Spargo wasn’t that bad either. At least they try and get the ball at a contest, unlike you know who.

  7. Honestly, I don't see the point in throwing more trash at him, he has been in only because of injuries to both of our first-choice key defenders. When May and Lever return, and with the development of Hore, return of Smith, and even the impending prospect of Petty overtaking him, Oscar's time and role at the club is in a twilight. Railing against his presence in our best 22 is about as sensible as railing against the continuing of season 2019. We know the situation, we know it will end, we know there will be a new dawn. Might as well as least let some peace flow in the meantime. Don't cling to bitterness.

  8. As most know I have not been a fan of the Weid however I thought last night was his second best game other than for that crap shot for goal he could have been the hero of the night. It should have been well over by then but such is the life of a Dees supporter. Back to the Weid, I watched his game against Williamstown and thought that day he actually looked like a AFL player playing at VFL level. I am hoping he can have a good second half of the year and go on from there because he is right now the only KPF we have of any worth.

  9. Wow. Scroll back about two pages and the site was glowing about his potential after a very good first year. The kid has a lot of talent, with great creativity and awareness. What he doesn't have at the moment is confidence; he running on a flat zero in that department. He is a developing player in his second year who is struggling to back it up. Not only is this not unheard of, it's common in league football. Form is temporary, class is permanent; and I'm a believer.

  10. So where's your thread on our terrible kicking for goal? Or the thread on spilled easy marks inside 50? Or the thread on our poor delivery i50? I would've thought that to be more thread worthy than continually getting stuck into one player. You stated no one was blaming any loss on Omac and I provided a clear example of a poster who did. Threads that incite trolling against a single player are by far the worst part of Demonland.

  11. Surprising that we were clearly the better side with 15 out of our 22 players getting negative reviews from Joeboy. I think his judgment was ( justifiably) clouded by his disappointment.

  12. He played 100 times better than he did the week before. I thought his game was a positive. Anyway the guy is 19, barely out of nappies. He’s such a long way off being the finished product that declarations of being a wasted selection or having no AFL traits are nothing short of outrageous. Give him a bloody break.

  13. The idea of rushing back players who have been out for long periods is just nuts.Season is gone, so stop the bloody desperation selections and only pick players on form. Hannan proved it, and JKH to a lesser extent. May played well, so he deserves the recall. Lever has not. I really hope he plays at least once more in the 2's to find some form. Dont risk underdone players when the season is already over.

  16. Oh please, there were multiple reasons we lost. Set shot kicking is one. Oscars terrible performance was another. Do you think he is a player we should continue persisting with? I have seen him take fresh airs at spoils at least 3 times this year. He is useless, zero intensity, zero footy nous, zero skills. What exactly is he good at besides being relatively tall?

  17. Hey Joeboy. Don't let your emotions cloud your judgement. Oliver lost his way did he? Specsavers await you.

  18. Not sure why my intial thread got taken down but, so I'll keep this simple. Probably one of the worst AFL players going around and its time we see the last of this potato. With May coming in next week i expect tonight we'll be the last we'll see him in a red and blue jumper.. ever!

  19. I thought we were excellent last night, shame about that last quarter though. The season is over, so getting upset over results doesn’t take precedence over acknowledging how much better we played for mine. We looked like the team of 2018 last night, and although a win would have been fitting, the vast improvement in our structures and connection were brilliant to witness. With our key ins coming back in, there’s no reason we won’t have a very strong second half of the season based on last nights performance. Hope the club gets behind weed, I thought he played well and it’s really obvious the pressure is getting to him. Stay strong young man, you have a very bright future at the MFC.

  20. Some tough calls here. We dominated this game...except in the goal kicking. What was it... 5 set shot misses in the last? 3 in the last 5 mins? FML But, massive disappointment aside, I thought we were mostly really good ( discounting the macs) Better ball movement and great set ups into the Fwd 50. Best all year. Reckon we badly need fritsch in the fwd half as hes one of the only one that can kick for goal reliably. We're all going to sleep better when Lever and May return and when Oscar is playing for Casey at the level he belongs in.

  21. I reckon it's 9 games in 2.5 years where we have clearly been the better team but have found a way to lose (10 if we include GC this year where we did everything to throw it away). In all the below games we have had more (or at worst) equal scoring shots, in some case significantly more scoring shots. That's almost 1 in 5 H&A games that we are throwing away with poor finishing. I thought we had fixed it after beating WCE late last year and then the finals, but this season it's back to how it was. For so long we waited to have a competitive side - now we've got a pretty good one but they keep on snatching losses in quite extraordinary fashion. 2019 GC 8.13 v 9.6 (won this one) WCE 9.15 v 13.7 Adel 12.16 v 14.6 2018 Geelong 13.16 v 14.13 Port 9.11 v 11.9 Geelong 14.14 v 16.4 Sydney 10.18 v 13.9 2017 Geelong 13.19 v 20.6 Fremantle 15.15 v 16.10 North 10.12 v 11.10

  22. How about he just kicks the goal? It was an effing soda 25m out. If a bloke needs a cuddle and a Tony Robbins motivational chat to kick those just delist him now.

  23. It’s part and parcel of the game because we accept it and don’t demand better of ourselves and each other. It doesn’t have to be that way. The idea that it abusing players is inherent as part of being passionate or emotional is just garbage.

  24. When Sam took that final mark last night, he knew the state of the game and would have been(censored) himself. I would have expected our “ leaders” to have walked back with him and calmed him down. But that did not happen and we know the result. As soon as he took the mark Viney patted him on the head and walked away, Oliver did the same. Jones was nowhere in sight and didnt make the effort to go to him. we lack leadership on the field.

  26. I have only read through bits & pieces of the topic but as usual there is massive overreactions. People calling for Goodwins head, was it Goodwin's fault our players missed simple set shots or his fault we kicked inaccurate all night ? I stopped emotionally investing in games after the saints loss which is extremely hard for me to do, the season was well & truly over then. The fact we played some really good footy for large parts of the game with still so much personnel out should be encouraging. We aren't playing finals this year so all we can do is hopefully get something of our best 22 back after the bye & play some footy together & take some momentum into the pre season. The overreacting in here is over the top the season has been gone for a long time

  29. This horrible season is over. Let’s not waste it. I hope our coaching team aren’t as weak as our players and utilize what’s left of this year to make some tough decisions. Give players we aren’t sure of time to show if they are worth persisting with. Send everyone who isn’t fit to rest or to the operating table. Tom McDonald needs a 16 week holiday so he can stop playing like a 97 year old with arthritis. We need to try and salvage this year to make critical list decisions. We also need to hire a [censored] goal kicking coach. Brad Green was an extraordinary kick for goal. He might need the support now. Could be a good way to help him while he helps us.

  30. With all due respect Red and Blue....... The fact that you miss the point of this thread entirely seems to diminish the value of your contribution. Do you not understand the words Oscar did not cost us the game? I rarely post on this site, the blinkered opinions of many are simply not worth debating. I travelled to Darwin and saw Oscar's positioning on his player long before the ball was delivered. He has a high IQ, but not for football. This thread is about improving the side, nothing else.

  31. if you look at it clinically, JKH had a real shocker tonight. I;'ve though he could play a bit but his efforts, his skills, lack of reading of the play were all terrible. falling to ground against Jenkins deep in defence cost us a goal no-one would cough up. I knew that would hurt us badly. He's had too many chances.

  32. Every player had a job to do. The angst with Omac is not that he cost us the game. It is that in so many ways and in so many games, he has been found incapable of executing his role. This deficiency has been highlighted for 3 years as we had no other options. We now appear to have better options, while Oscar has failed to develop despite numerous opportunities. The day of reckoning has now arrived.

  34. I pretty well gave up on this season around 3-5 weeks ago so I am happy to agree that last night and the WCE game showed some improvement in the form of key players. The continual injuries means we cannot get a settled line up. Cannot understand why Preuss was not played last night allowing Max to be used as a shock trooper. Hoping for some consistency from Weideman and a return to some form by Tom Mac. The other is May and Lever returning... not because they will make that much difference in the short term but because the team has to get used to playing with them in the side. Probably give the QB game a miss... there is something about losing to Collingwood that particularly depresses me...

  35. I think we did DJ and with a couple more AFL talents returning next week I think we will be better again. We won't beat the Pies but I have faith that we will have a winning second half of the year injuries providing of course.

  37. Ohh give me a [censored] spell! We continue to make excuses for his continuel shitful performance. Does Frost get the same excuse even though he did thr job On Walker? Is it also our mids fault that when it came to one on one contest he gave away at least 3 free kick for holding on to the man? Pathetic excuse putting blame on our mids (who actually did their job on the night) for someone else's terrible performance. He'll be dropped next week. Plain and simple.

  38. I'm not particularly interested in reflecting on too much about the game, but I did say to my mum who I was watching with tonight, midway through the third quarter, when we were 31 points up and Sloane was out, 'we won't lose it from here, they're a man down and he's their best mid, if we do, it'll be one of the worst loses of the last decade'. Sure enough, this football club managed to deliver again what no other can. Pathetic really. When the game was there to be taken, we shirked a bunch of chest marks and blazed away and missed sodas in that last quarter that would have buried the opposition. The only real positive for me out of this game (aside from the moments of good ball movement when Adelaide switched off), is the continued form of young Oskar Baker. He shows poise under pressure, in traffic and makes the right decisions more often than not. He looks like a real find. Well done recruitment and development team, and well done, young man.

  39. We talk about Oscar and for good reason, but I reckon Tom is on par with him. Oscar rarely manages to halve contests, let alone win them, while Tom rarely marks anything, let alone kicks goals. 10 from 11 games is a pathetic return for a player of his maturity. The delivery has been rubbish, blah, blah, blah, but he doesn't mark the bloody thing.

  40. Cheers Joeboy!!! keep up the good work. Our take ringside with slightly tinted glasses. Post- game thread - for masochists only Jones - deserves club record Viney - determination belied value Gawn - stellar season continues Stretch - made little impression O. McDonald - no comment ropeable T. McDonald - missing in action Frost - athletic goal keeper Smith - compass unfortunately awry Hibberd - needed scratch match Baker - calm and composed Hunt - pedometer on speed Oliver - first half dynamo Brayshaw - field kicking mule Harmes - out of gas Spargo - better performance tonight Weideman - We rate him Petracca - fair objective assessment? Kennedy-Harris - run will improve Fritsch - lace out laser Garlett - group think pinup Wagner - lacks disposal polish Hannan - rushed back early

  43. Besides our own disgraceful kicking for goal, don't forget the bad luck we are continually having. Can't get a free in front of goal ever. Multiple injured players unlike the opposition each week. Lose Salem and Hore just before the game. With them in it would be fair to say we win.

  46. I have to say this. Garlett is weak as [censored]. For all his speed and skill, he tries to run past contests and do a magic slight of hand tap to knock the ball clear rather than putting his body in. He misses goals because he's more worried about being tackled than taking an extra step to line the shot up. He dropped multiple marks tonight because he was looking for who was coming at him rather than watching the ball into his hands. I don't care how many scores he had, he doesn't do the basics right and he's afraid of contact. He has to go.

  48. May was very good today and his work rate stood out to me more than anything else. I tried to watch him closely as much as possible and he was outstanding in that department. Several times he would start a metre or two behind his opponent and by the time the ball was there he caught up with speed to spoil or even got in front and marked. In the second quarter the ball was being contested in our forward half, May and his opponent were the only ones in our back 50 when another Werribee player snuck forward and created a 2 on 1. May decided to sit between them after not one teammate adhered to his calls of dropping back. May would have been 20 metres away from the secondary player when he realised we lost the ball at half forward and the now loose forward became the leading option for Werribee, May sprinted about 50 metres to close down that player on the back flank and spoiled the ball over the boundary. Brilliant stuff to much applause from the Casey faithful that ventured out. I thought KK got better as the game went on but was surprised to read he only had 12 touches. Dunkley was mainly used forward but it wasn’t a day for our forwards with poor delivery all day. He did show some strength though in the first quarter with a couple of fine tackles.
