  1. Melbourne assistant coach Craig Jennings joins Gerard Whateley to talk about his trip to Arnhem Land and increasing the number of indigenous coaches in the game.

  2. Something to do with these two ^ Hopefully that thread doesn't last even a round!

  3. We are very, very fortunate to have this bloke on our payroll.

  4. Pretty much bang on IMO. Our team looks well balanced. Williams would be a good long term tall option. Bedford could become a decent small forward who can push up the ground. A bit of more pace through the midfield and front half with the other picks such as O'Halloran, Sturt etc and we're sorted for options of all kinds all across the ground. I can't remember a better Melbourne list in my lifetime. The list we had in the early-mid 90s had stars such as Schwarz and Lyon, but weren't as well-rounded as this current list. Exciting times!

  6. Thanks guys. Enjoyed it as usual. The highlight for me was Josh saying that Jake Lever will be travelling to the States in January, to undertake the same intensive post knee reco rehab program that Tracc did. I hadn't heard that before.

  7. Jones came 4th in our B&F and is an incredible (and underated) endurance athlete Viney struggles to stay on the park. Stick with the two. There is no downside.

  8. The AFL love two things more than pretty much anything else (aside from cash): 1. Poorly thought out rules 2. Acronyms/Initialism And now with the pre-season supplement selection period which they've dubbed the SPP they have both. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-11-15/new-rookie-rules-clarke-mumford-free-to-join-club-of-choice Any player who has been delisted or previously been through a National Draft can now be signed as a rookie from December until March as long as teams have an open spot. That's fair enough for Mumford and Clark, guys who have previous retired or being delisted and have played for years. It makes less sense for 19 year olds over looked in last years draft who should now enter this years draft, but as far as I can tell there's no rule stopping them Luke Foley from WA might be the best of the 19 year olds this year and a draft pick in the 20-40 range. I propose we get on the phone ASAP and advise him to pull out of the draft. We'll rookie him in December and promise him a hefty pay rise in a year or two. In a more likely scenario it also means for someone like Jay Lockhart or another mature age player we might fancy we can advise them to withdraw from the draft and sign with us in December.

  9. Ok Macca. Im now in Germany, Frankfurt so ill see if i can gain any insider tips for the Bundesliga! Actually just looking at last weeks results, every match bar 1 was at least 3 goals scored.

  10. Yes I like the team but hope we can weave in Preuss and Vanders into our best 22 as I would love us to be a physically intimidating team that can match it with the best sides in talent as well. A lot of premierships have been won by nasty sides who blend mongrel with talent.

  12. Surely we’ve now all had the chance to respectfully bid “farewell to Jesse Hogan”. Time to close this thread and open up the “Jesse Hogan is a purple wearing bastard and I hope he fails” thread...

  14. Just listened to it - well done as always chaps. I was wondering though, do you have to supply the interviewee with the questions in advance of the interview and if so, did Josh hit any of them on the head and if so, what did he want to avoid? TIA

  15. Carlton would be crazy not to pick up Bugg. They lack players in their mid twenties. even as a defensive fwd he would be worth it

  16. ....came from GWS? Then SoS will definitely pick him.

  17. Good line of argument but still leave alone for 2019. Use the season to evaluate for 2020 and beyond. Jonesy may well wish to handover end of next season if he is struggling for form or a place in the side.

  18. We have to handle Jones final years with respect and integrity. He deserves nothing less, and that also goes for the captaincy issue. Nothing to be gained and possibly some damage by making Viney sole skipper.

  19. And doesn't he look ecstatic! I imagine it is how its meant to be but the further down the track, the less unhappy I am that he left

  20. Bedford is exactly the type of youngster to develop. Dees will grab him. It’s just which pick and what we have to give up.

  21. Wow. The star pulling power that Demonland has is impressive. I noticed that Maxy also gave Demonland a bit of a shout out in his B&F speach. That these players and officials of standing keep rocking up to give interviews is a real credit to the manner in which the moderators and administrators at Demonland run the forum. Well done guys.

  23. Best Bet: Augsburg V Eintracht Frankfurt/ Frankfurt to win Match score +2.5 goals $3.80 Mainz v Borussia Dortmond/ Borussia Dortmond and + 2.5 goals $2.40

  24. This Contiki tour is taking you everywhere Wadda ... it's like one of those Michael Palin adventures. "Wadda's European Extravaganza" which includes Cartwheels in Copenhagen and Dancing in Dubrovnik. The 'Tour Diary' available at all good book stores (I'm hearing) And yeah, that's why I am switching to Sun/Mon picks ... because of the quality of teams and the match-score factor. As an example ... Man City were a moral against Man Utd last Monday morning and we saw 4 goals in the game.

  25. Critics are raving about it. "If you only listen to one Josh Mahoney interview this week, make sure it's the Demonland one." New York Times "Unmissable." TV Week "This is Andy and Grapeviney at their very best." Cosmopolitan

  28. Lever won't play the first couple of rounds IMO. Oscar and Frost will get an opportunity to push their cases. Great position for the club to be in.

  30. Barrie I think your memory is playing tricks. You look at most of the team photos of this era most players wore sleeveless jumpers or should I say guernseys. There were always a couple of players who preferred the long sleeves, blokes like Ian Ridley, Geoff Tunbridge and Doc Roet, but the majority opted for sleeveless. However, on a wet or muddy day many footballers opted for the long sleeves in keeping with coaching advice in this era.

  32. Great team. and doesn't include: Vanders, Stretch, Preuss, Frost, Hunt, and other exciting kids certainly need more pace and tall fwd options though

  33. The AFLW is in its infancy, there are very few female coaches at this level Assume this will increase as some of the older players retire but there is a pathway that actually plays, for them to continue on as coaches

  34. I like that Melbourne have given Pat a stepping stone for a new career given that he won’t make it as an AFL footballer or professional cricketer. There’s just one woman on the AFLW team’s coaching panel. Surely we could be more affirmative.

  36. Talk about unrealistic. Six in six has to be the aim, and if we drop one a full restructure would be required.

  40. I don't think this is appropriate on a Demon fan site....who is this Hogan anyway??? Might have to censor yourselves 'Demonland'

  41. The three options we have atm are by far the best we've ever had since the AFL brought in clash jumpers. I will be [censored] if we change them!

  42. A hell of a lot of groupthink that we need, believe we need and should be or are priotitising "outside speed" and "kicking skills". IMO for better or worse it's far more likely that we will continue to prioritise contested football attributes above anything else and that we believe fast ball movement comes from winning the contest and gaining metres far faster than players can run.

  43. There's no way May goes no.1 this year. I rate him highly and think our team/list is more balanced with May over Hogan, but he wouldn't go near no.1.

  44. Defensive pressure is not actually our issue, being one of the leading pressure teams in the comp. What we lack, Gaff would offer, which is accurate disposal and lots of them. Still, I hope KK can live up to his pick 5 selection in terms of talent and he'd end up being a much cheaper and younger option than Gaff. This highlights to me how overrated Kent is too.

  45. From first hand experience (he coached my son for 3 years during his re-hab) he is a quality person who would add to our improving culture. Was outcast by Scott who plays favourites with his team. Is an elite user of the ball, strong overhead and a very accurate set kick. Watch the last 2 minutes of the Geelong game at GMHBA and see who set that play up that broke our collective hearts. Attached are some interesting comparative stats for those that dismiss Menzel and bag Garlett. I am biased because I know him but a lot of Geelong people are shaking their heads in dis-belief.
