  3. Yes, there was a lot of the inevitable about the way we lost... but we didn't just curl up and roll over! I agree with the tactical stuff up with Gawn off early last qtr... but if you ever get the courage to watch the final minutes you will see two teams giving everything they could to win the ball and send it forward. JKH needed that goal for his own career... but he wasn't a passenger. Frost was amazing with his last desperate dash out of defence. Its a fine line between pleasure and pain. I see the game as a move forward in the teams development... This group know the CAN win in whatever Hellhole they find themselves in... Heartbreaking, yes... but I see it as character building! I'm not going to argue the point... Its just my opinion.

  5. The 'whingers' actually care about the club and long for success. Losses hurt. You are the fakest supporter I have ever seen. And you are by far the worst poster here.

  7. Currently in the car with the Fam heading down the highway to Geelong to watch both the VFL and AFL games today. I’m not too optimistic but a dual victory would be fantastic today. Hopefully Keilty can have a good game too.

  9. I am absolutely [censored] done with this. How much crueler does it have to get? How much lower to the pits of despair do we have to plunder? The best thing this club has taught me is to never be content with any lead. You lead my 23 points going into the last quarter? Doesn't matter, treat it like its level and try to kick the first goal, then try to kick the next goal, and the goal after that and the goal after that. That is the only way I know how to follow this football club. There is never any room for 'comfort'. You can't be 23 points up and be content when the opposition kicks a goal. No, there is never any God damn room for comfort with this club ever until the friggin full time siren goes and even then you have to hope some a'se wipe didn't take a mark. Seriously, how much more of this dog excrement bullcrap do we have to put up with? I was told repeatedly after Round 23 in 2017 that it would 'burn in the bellies' of these young men. Where the hell was that in the last minute? I don't want to hear any more stupid stories about no pain no gain and 'this is the loss they need to become better' seriously pull the other one. This football club has had enough of those losses and lessons to last a lifetime, it is time for some darn action. At half time in the game day thread I wrote that it had a feel about it similar to many of those games that we had the edge in and lost. The port game. I even referenced a game from [censored] 16 years ago where Farmer killed us on the siren at Subi. Seriously enough is enough. I and many others are completely at their wits end with this kind of thing happening over and over again. It's been 12 years and this Mt Everest of a task that teams seemingly make year after year of making the finals is getting beyond a joke. Melbourne, you will always find the way won't you? You won't snatch it from St Kilda but you'll always find the way when it matters most. I haven't given up hope. Mate, when you're out of it for 12 years you'll take what chance you can get buf I can not back this team to deliver the goods when it counts. I am sorry, I know a lot of you have other things in life aside from football like your families and partners. I'm in my early 30s, single and put a lot of my energy into this football club. It really damn hurts just that bit more when you feel you have little else. Criticise me if you want I don't give a toss right now.

  23. Even with the injuries, there is absolutely no reason why we can't win this game of footy. Play our game, keep the pressure up and turn our forward entires into goals and we can knock these ducking bastards off! Dees by 4 goals.

  24. Don’t hate me for saying anything this but: 1. Frost really improved 2. Oliver’s hands are amazing 3. Fritch tried all night (enjoy your 2 week holiday Hawkins) 4. Melk, ANB and believe it or not - Trac really stood up all night - well done Trac 5. Goody failed to call junk time 1:30 out from the siren to hold the lead... FMD’s, the boys did well, the coach failed.

  25. Hard going ... Omac is most definitely not going to make it as an AFL player, if anybody seriously thinks he will go ahead and make your case. Overall the team worked hard, Harmes, Melksham and Petracca led the way, Petraccas brain fade late was bad but he was ver good and you can’t look at one incident for a loss, if you could then plenty of Oscars non competive efforts on Hawkins or maybe Brayshaws ridiculous tap back to three cats 10 metres from goal would certainly take the cake for brain fade of the day. Hard loss to swallow because like the Port game we were the better team most of the time but need to iron out a few of these passengers still.

  30. I’m the wildest I’ve been in a long time and it’s thanks to being too emotionally invested in this fucken football club. Should’ve iced that game a minute out when Petracca had the ball. Where was the leaders saying to cool it rather than let him bomb the fucken thing long? FML.

  31. For as bad as I feel, this is a silly comment. We're still in sixth. While the loss was shattering, we played out of our skin for three quarters at one of the hardest away grounds to play on in the competition. Finals is still well and truly alive.

  32. Not only that, why listen the the idiot fitness guys and rotate him on the bench for so long in the the last quarter while the cats took over in the middle and got momentum back in their favor. Just go with what feels right FFS! Those extra few minutes he could have come on earlier may have cost us the match....along with a couple of cheating umpiring decisions that swung the game back the other way when the Cats where down. The 50 meters against Harmes when he was clearly leaving the area (Nichols) and the free kick to Ablett when it should have been holding the ball against him in the last quarter which IMO completely changed the face of the game in the Cat's favour gifting them a crucial goal.

  46. I hate the way that smug little [censored] in the coach's box constantly plays his mock outrage role for the camera at every decision that goes against the [censored] . I also hate Hawkins' cross eyes - makes my think of ugly Mav.

  47. I'd argue that all these players were drafted too high on the basis of having specific attributes, but lacked 'completeness' - their main strength was their only strength. Like we were recruiting for the second-string x-men. Possibly why I so love Angus Brayshaw. Is he the outright fastest, the strongest, the best kick, the best mark, the fittest? Nope. But he would each in turn beat every one of the players listed in the opening post in every category except the single feature those players were notable for.

  48. I have been saying for weeks that we will win this game. This is the sort of ground that seems to suit our high press, and should also reduce the amount of "out the back" opportunities Geelong might have otherwise had. If the umpires can be even-handed (yeah, i know....) we can win this. Like Gawny said, we need to win at least 2 of our remaining games against fellow contenders or we won't play finals. MFC do not play well when its desperation stakes, so leaving our run till the last few games would be an almost guaranteed disaster. We have to start somewhere, and today is the day. Go Dees.

  49. This thread is due out in either 3 weeks when we are out, or 8 weeks when we are out. Seems early to be punish ourselves. Also, I was ambivalent to Watts leaving. If he went and did well, OK to him. To give you a more thoughtful answer: 1. We were terrible at developing talent. I think there was a mentality in the club that talent should make it. Now we have systems and people who teach elite standards and (apart from Petty) people dont get games until they are ready. 2. We weren’t bringing people into a ‘culture’. Any of these kids would come to the club and would now be clear on what we were trying to achieve, and the group is strong. The ‘care and love’ factors are much stronger. Previously, these guys would come into a vacuum, with us and them in groups, people being selected due to external pressures and no clear idea of what we were setting up for. Guys like Neeld might be teachers, but they are not leaders. 3. They each had flaws that were not supported or corrected by the club, the development, the coaches or the culture. 4. Injury played its part in several of these selections not making it. 5. Some selections just won’t make it! I think we now look for different things, set the tone differently and go about the development of players differently to the bad old times. Some won’t make it. I love the fact that no player is bigger than the team, and that the team has a clear idea of what it is trying to do and to be.
