He also dropped During NAB score around the grounds this season on February 27th Port 20 odd points to Melbourne 1 point - LANGDON - well Melbourne doing their usual they are just no good Melbourne wont win 5 games this season Judd wont leave West Coast because they are one of the best at retaining players and don't lose ones they want to keep I believe David Mundy has gone because every player who puts off contract talks has moved at the end of the season Summing up my belief that if you thrown enough darts, you will hit the target at some stage. And my mail on the contract situation from a decent source the waiting till the end of the season is absolutely honest, Jesse is backing himself in to increase his net value and nobody even close friends know what the outcome will be.10 points

Anyone who argues that umpires don't have an adverse influence on the results of games is kidding themselves. North got kissed on the dick last week, Hawks this week. Is there a mandate from AFL House to completely screw over young teams to protect their finalists? You genuinely have to wonder.6 points

Reading this thread reminds me of a friend's MFC supporting family;her dad bought a bottle of red during Grand Final week in 1988 to celebrate the win.Of course we all know that didn't happen so he put it away in a cupboard to drink when Melbourne did win a flag.He has since passed on but his surviving wife and daughters plan on drinking the bottle when we do win one.6 points

No one but Jesse, his Manager and maybe some of his family, would know what he intends to do, so for the rest of us, it is pure speculation.5 points

Can't see him leaving. Too many mates, we have the dough and the future looks very bright.4 points

Comparing Barrett to pondscum is a little harsh. Pondscum, also known as 'microalgae' is used to make vitamins, proteins and some dyes. Barrett on the other hand, serves zero purpose.4 points

Fact is no-one knows. Probably not even Hogan himself. People pretend to know, think they know, have opinions but at the end of the day who knows? It is an industry in which every day second rate media types create news grabbing stories that are pedalled as fact. No-one is held to account so it becomes the story. It is really tiresome and best to be both cynical and detached. Increasingly players jump ship when there is a better deal or other reason such as "going home". Supporters of every club rejoice at picking up a star recruit from another club but become concerned when a player wants to leave their club. Such is the way it is. Swings and roundabouts.4 points

At least let's look at like for like, which brings it down to the half-backs: Grimes and Garland vs Wagner and Hunt. Based on Garland's last game at both AFL and VFL level, you'd have to put Wagner and Hunt ahead of him As for Grimes, much as he's been a loyal foot soldier, he does not have enough impact or hurt the opposition. If he plays more than a handful of game this year, I'll be surprised. This isn't about Hunt vs ANB either, as they play different positions, and are different kinds of players. Hunt is there to give us speed and penetration off half-back, something that few (if any) other players provide. Selection decisions have to go further than "A is better than B", they're also about game plan, team structure, match ups etc. The FD have obviously identified a role and a need for Hunt, so he's in. Up to him now to justify it.3 points

I'm in hemingway's camp that Jesse himself probably doesn't know. It's still a long way out. I agree though that anyone outside those you named who claims they do know, is completely full of it.3 points

Clayton oliver 65% game tome = 26 touches and 2 goals. when this kid is playing 85-90% he is going to be scary good3 points

Good to see Max King playing. There's a clear role for him in the MFC 22 if he's good enough.3 points

It's one thing hearing that an ex-teammate will coach a club and another that a player will leave in 2 years. There is no "mail", it's merely his feeling. If there was "mail" it would be leaked everywhere.3 points

I wish the mods would rename this thread "Hogan - stay or go" so those of us looking for other info about him (eg injured?) don't have to wade through all this speculation.3 points

I suppose if you consider them as like for like changes, they kind of add up. Pedersen can play Vanders role of big, marking flanker; Brayshaw replaces Vince as a genuine mid; Hunt can play as the low game time, junior running mid that Stretch was. The balance might be okay. I'm really just trying to convince myself. I still think this is not a strong team on paper.3 points

Once again we will be playing next week against a team that is heavily under the pump....a 'line in the sand' game for them. About time we learned to kick them when they are down, like we have been on the receiving end for so bloody long. Go Dees. Just do it ✔️3 points
-
Pretty obvious to me. They have 3 big forwards, hence Pedo in. Frost plays forward with Hogan and Watts to keep the structure they want. They can always swap if it's not working. Having slightly more depth now, I think we will see changes made to suit match ups week to week.3 points

So the umpire just a free kick against Carlton for 'Throwing the ball back too hard and fast' They have seriously lost the plot yet AFL have the guts to come out and say they doing are a great job. nutjobs2 points

It's great that umpires are letting the head high's go when players are dropping the knees, just a week after we had 40 of them against us. Just great.2 points

Why would he sign now ? He's contracted for just under 2 years of footy... The players CBA is coming up, he might come out and kick 60 goals this year and 70 next year... His worth will go up, he'd be doing himself a disservice by signing now for less than what he could, especially if it's going to be a long term deal. He'd want to get it right2 points

My hatred of umpires gifting Hawthorn with Free kicks is inflamed by Fox commentators agreeing with them.2 points

Totally understandable. I'm hoping for a scrappy sh!tty game that neither side can take anything positive from.2 points

Look at the bright side of those Friday night games, watching the Tiges lose is a good way to kick off the weekend2 points

I actually thought the WA bias improved last year, but the little I watched last night suggested otherwise. Who can ever forget the classic 20-1 half time free kick count we copped at Subi a few years back.2 points

Unfortunately I have learned one thing in footy, however much I rail against something, or whinge about it, or predict its happening as a warning, if it is going to happen, it does.2 points

Lets also not forget that only a very short time ago Jesse was in the middle of talks about a long term extension, only a few weeks ago he said " anyone playing forward of this midfield would be silly to want to leave " and i tend to believe him when he says that. The big trump card in these situations is often the money, another club has offered that player a crazy amount to convince them, i doubt there is a club in the comp that we couldn't match though so it's all a bit strange. He's invested in the club, he's training hard and for now he's honoring his contract, i'm fairly happy so long as he's doing that, if he leaves we'll get amazing compensation of at least 1 A grade player and a really good pick. and if he stays it'll be long term and we won't have to worry about this for an extended period2 points

There's nothing in it, IMO. If he goes, it won't be back to Perth. I reckon he could test the water (with a Melbourne-based club) at the end of this year if we don't win between 10-12 games. I reckon we will and he'll end up signing with us on a long term deal.2 points

Samantha Lane looks at the football world's dark side ~ Nathan Bock AFL case: Bomber Thompson says 'everybody knew' Omerta: everyone knew. Really? For a start he should look in the mirror because there is no shortage of people who claim that everyone knew what was going on while he was coaching Geelong and the Weapon was on the payroll. Idle gossip of course, but everyone knew?2 points

just to be controversial i'll make a bold statement and predict he'll either go or stay remember you heard it here first2 points

Yes odd selection this week. Hunt and Wagner are okay in Casey yet ANB starred in the last 2 weeks. Not sure Wagner and Hunt knocked the door down to get in. Need Hogan to play.2 points

How about thinking one game at a time? We are no certainties to beat anyone at the moment.2 points

We desperately need to beat the Pies and smash Richmond to get our season back on track. The tigers look truly insipid tonight. Good.2 points

I'm not investing any emotion into Hogan. He's 50 50 at best to stay. He's the classic pay to play player. My guess is he's leaving and I don't believe it will ruin us2 points

Second week in a row that the selections have left me scratching my head. * Can't see a role for both Pedersen and Frost * It is a big roll of the dice playing both Wagner and Hunt. That is a lot of inexperience in defensive posts - assuming that is where they play. No choice but to put it down to "these guys are the experts and I'm not" and go with it. It's not doing my confidence much good though.2 points

Meh. Not the least bit worried. But if something does come of it, we take our medicine the Cronulla way. Not rioting. The other one.2 points

Misson said yesterday if Garlett got through training and pulled up well saturday he would play. If he doesn't, why is that Misson's fault. Vanders did an ankle. Brayshaw was rushed in by the Match Committee. Watts has obviously injured a knee. Why is that Misson's fault. I thought his main job was to get the players fit and that seems ok, they run out games. The Doctors and Physios look after injuries. Yes he might guess wrongly as to when a player will come back, but that is not his main job, that is just fluff for the supporters.2 points

To scare us into playing Pedersen and Frost? I joke, but it isn't so far fetched.1 point

Nope. That doesn't wash anymore - we've been told we have to put up with that for 10 years. In actual fact, the 'inexperience' was just hiding mostly rubbish lists. We've got the players now win games of footy against middle of the road teams. Where we will lose out still is in tight situations against good teams like North, where that inexperience is genuinely the difference between winning and losing.1 point

Be a very crowded forward line with Darling and Kennedy. I don't think they need him in the short term like Fremantle do.1 point
