  1. On a positive note...welcome Jimmy Toumpas

  2. Ok been a long time critic and so even though this is one of the worst loses I can remember I must make mention of his effort today! I thought he was terrific today, won outside and more importantly for me, inside ball and made mostly some good decisions! I hope he can go on from here because if what he provided today can be continued, then his place in the draft and promise to be lived up to will be vindicated. 1 great game in three years ! Lets see what he offers next week! And before you start gloating Dazzle man, get stuffed!!

  4. Fellow posters, I have been saying from training we are making sure we 'build' the young guys properly, there is no rush, I for one, am not at all surprised King kicked 5, never misses at training, and Harmes got to play in the midfield without Michie, Riley. ANB or Tyson in there as well and shone, just let the coaching staff get on with the building

  5. Jimmy Toumpas played his best game, much improved today, he can hold his head high. Well done Toumpas.

  6. Relax relax relax. This year we've been in positions to win against: GWS, Adelaide, Port, Collingwood, St Kilda. That has us in positions to win, or have won 8 out of 11 games. There are still 11 games to go in the season. Assuming we are in positions to win 8/11 remaining, puts us up to winning 16 out of 22 games in a season. Some of us have short memories. When was the last season we've been able to win, let alone get close to 16 out of 22 games? Last year was purely bridging the gap and trying to repair some mental demons. (pardon the pun) This year is purely getting us to play so we get into positions to win. (we haven't been there for so long, so we don't know how to) Next year will be about winning 50/75% of those winnable games. Just remember, there is so much to take out of this game. I've never seen a better game out of Watts I've never seen a better game out of Toumpas Gawn, while dropped marks, looks like something Grimes looked the most confident I've seen him in about 2 years Hogan. Viney continues to improve Brayshaw. While not great games for Stretch and ANB, they'll be better for the run. Petracca, Trengove, Kent, Salem, JKH still to improve, break into this side. So now that the emotion of the heartbreak loss has subsided, lets reflect and be grateful. We are in such a better place then we were pre Roos era.

  10. And those rubbishing Toumpas are blinded by their bias. Two goals, 26 touches and 8 tackles. That's a gun game. Okay, so he may have been at fault for the last goal, but I reckon the whole team (especially the leaders) have to cop the blame for that.

  11. I don't understand posts like these. Did we draft him to become the next Glenn Archer? He goes when it's his turn to go (see the lead up to Viney's goal), he laid 8 tackles and his foot skills were on show for all to see. 2 excellent goals. I guess you're just a glass half-empty kind of guy.

  13. Covering your rrrse picket with a weak compliment, which is really another one of your pathetic backhanders, to a player who is starting to get a bit of the ball and show form. No one is gloating, but plenty are praising him for his effort today, regardless of where he was taken in the draft or how he's played previously. Not you though, typical.

Point the finger at our fucken retarded players & leaders, you're up, get the [censored] behind the ball!!!!! Enough with the Roos bagging it's the fucken players for [censored] sake!!!!!!!!!!!!

  27. Seriously guys, our coaces can only do so much, it's up to our players/leaders to lead on the field. If you're up with under a minute to go and you depend on the coach to tell you to flood back, you're a hopeless football team. I learnt that in under 13's, Hogan, Watts, Garlett should of all been behind the ball and make a contest. Our players lost that game not Roos. The players need to be accountable.

  28. Only St Kilda could have dominated the fourth quarter like that and find themselves losing with 40 seconds to go. But only Melbourne could lose despite going ahead with 40 seconds to go.

  29. Stop sulking you little bishes. This would've been a 186 a few years ago, boys fought on well. Some great promise from some young kids. This is about the long term, not one meaningless game against St Kilda.

  30. It is, but in the heat of the last 40 seconds there's only so much Roos can do. There is no excuse, none at all, for Jones, Vince, Cross, Lumumba and Dunn not screaming at the others to get back behind the play. Can you imagine Selwood, Ablett, Pendlebury, Fyfe etc. not being in that last bounce? You don't need the coach to tell you, just get in there Jones.

  31. No way... You can not in 40 seconds relay a message to get players back. That is a players driven to push numbers back... This loss is %100 on the players. Roos couldn't do anything

  37. Ventured down today and was good to see them get the win while not playing their best. Credit has to go to Coburg for turning it into an arm wrestle, but Casey certainly missed Neal-Bullen and Michie as they were smashed out of the middle. Here's my thoughts on Melbourne's players: Chris Dawes: Competed hard all day and laid a lot of hard tackles which was good to see. Didn't really clunk any big contested marks, but kicked the sealing goal late. Needs another week at VFL level baring injury to Hogan or Pedersen. Jordie McKenzie: Was busy and kicked a goal in the final term. No major blunders, so not a huge amount to say about Jordie today. Ben Newton: Was very suprised to see Newton listed in the best. I barley sighted him today, especially after half time. Not saying he was, but at the 3/4 time huddle he almost looked disinterested with his arms crossed. That just could be him though, so i stand to be corrected. Oscar McDonald: Solid game without being spectacular. Spoilt well and is starting to back his pace at running off his opponent a bit more which is good to see. Mark Jamar: Was very good today i thought. Dominated his opponent in the ruck and took a few marks and got more of the ball around the ground. Missed a shot at goal in the third term he should have kicked, but i reckon we'll see him back in the team for Darwin Mitch White: Very good today defensively and offensively! Reads the play well and constantly peeled off his man and set up a number of offensive plays. Was quieter in the 2nd half, but another encouraging display. Jake Spencer: Solid game from Jake. Managed to take a few marks around the ground and kick 2 goals which was good. Wasn't as dominant in the ruck as Russian was, but he's kept his name up there. James Harmes: If it weren't for Max's bag of 5, this is the guy we would have been talking about. Was BOG to half time in my book, winning plenty of clearances and getting it on the outside also. Seemed to drift out of the game in the 3rd term and early part of the 4th, howevet when the game was in the balance he came back late winning some clearances out of the middle and driving the ball forward. Was the guy who set up McKenzie's mark and goal for Casey's 2nd last. Another thing i liked about his game was when he did make the odd mistake, he fought to win the ball back and make sure any error wasn't costly. Rohan Bail: Probably the best game i've seen him play. Was a real link man providing plenty of run and actually used it pretty well. I wouldn't love the odds of that translating into AFL form though. Matt Jones: Got plenty of it and ran hard, but he didn't seem to have the impact that Harmes & Bail had for me. Seemed reluctant to move the ball quickly and i thought stifled a few potential quick entries in the 3rd term. Max King: What can you say. A month ago i had this guy penciled in to be delisted. Now he could be anything! Played stay at home forward, but he's agile and kicks it beautifully. Don't think we'll see him lining up for the Dees anytime soon, but he's certainly one to watch. Also i should mention i though Morris from Casey was great and most consistent over the 4 quarters. Very creative and was our best when Coburg were on top in the 3rd. Hutchins was also great. Was a one man wall across half back, cutting off several forward thrusts from Coburg. End of the day Casey probably should have won by more. Were 7.0 at one stage, and from there kicked another 7.13, while Coburg kicked straight all day. Thought they were in trouble at 3/4 time, so did really well to fight out the 4 points and end of the day, that's all that matters. I'll also say for those worried, don't be concerned about Viney withdrawing tomorrow. Goodwin said Fitz has pulled up with a niggle, so Terlich is the carry over player.
