The tall forward line will be interesting. On the selected Lions side 5 are around that 183cm mark and then Andrews. Gallop will probably play CHB but will still keep them exposed to one of our talls. I guess we will use that triangle of separation that Freo use with their 3 tall forwards. Their smaller defenders will have to double team at least one our taller forwards so the two picketts and Sharp will have a ball if it hits the deck.

We were quite tall last week to with Petty up fwd and Melksham playing as a marking fwd to and it didn’t really work, as the ball just comes out to easy if you are unable to mark it. This week we have gone even taller. I’d have rather us bring in an extra mid size or small player

I count three defenders out of the side from last week (Salem, Lindsay and TMac) and one defender to come in (Taylor). Petty will play back, but there will need to be another player inserted.

I am hoping for the best and a decent effort, but my gut says we may have to start tomorrow to be a chance.

I'm fine if we lose this week ...

Now where have we heard that before ...

10 ‘kids’ in the team. A lot of which are highly rated

I’m guessing that Kolt will spend some time at half back

Personally would have brought in AMW instead of Jefferson as I think we were to tall in our front half last week, but time will tell if that was the right call

With Bowey, Riv and Lindsay(needed a rest but I’d back him in long term) still outside the team, there’s some serious talent on our list.

With Riv, Bowey, CJ injured and AMW still finding his 'footy feet' we are pretty light on down back.

Big Moose was starring at VFL and will be a good foil for Gawny. Both can run forward.

Jeffo deserves a game showing good VFL form and is mobile enough to play high half forward as well as kick goals.

Not a regular rat but the infamous Moose Rat, allegedly particularly dangerous in the early game!

Hot prediction - JVR will be given a near-tagging job on Harris Andrews.

Heathen!!

I really hope Jefferson can seize the opportunity and play a good one. Anything within a 5 goal loss would be a good effort.

PF has just gone to knock one out. Normal services will resume shortly.

Shortly?

20 degrees & sunny on Sunday. Perfect afternoon for footy at the G.

Plus don't forget it's Jim's game. It's shattering he's not here anymore for the obvious reasons but also to see how far max has come & how our club is coming along.

I also feel he was so far ahead of his time with his work with young people. We really could use him now with so many issues with society.

Also looking forward to hearing some Irish music

The four outs being replaced by the four ins has dropped our average team age stat by about 15 years

Named team seems to have Windsor back

With the options left at selection table, might just need his speed back there to quell at least one of their fleeter footed players

Loving the look at our next generation of players, but this coming against the Lions gives me the heeby-jeebies.

So glad Moose, Jeffo and Taylor are in, and stoked to see the Moose. I reckon he will surprise many by being AFL ready. I thought we might have needed AMW because of our injury riddled defense.

And I am glad for Laurie. I now when he plays AFL he doesn't get enough of it, but he gets it he uses it well and is very strong in the contest.

i expect plenty of youthful enthusiasm this week. We'll bring the heat I'm sure

it won't be enough to bridge the gulf in class though

best of luck to all the newbies and youngsters

Great to c the Moose in the side.

Really hope Jeffo and Laurie show something. Hope they do but I have serious doubts

  • PREVIEW: Brisbnae

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
