How the furg does Van Rooyen get GIFTED games 1 Goal in 4 games is a dreadful return.

6 goals back at the G gives you some cred but not for much longer.

Not helped by the lack of consistency to build form or match fitness for Luker or AJ or lesser extent Heath with the bye riddled VFL start to the season.

Unbelievable

Someone mentioned it before, but a real chance every first rounder since the flag plays together this week

2021: JVR
2022: Jeffo
2023: Windsor, Kolt
2024: Langford, Lindsay
2025: XT, Pickett

When is the team announced?

It’s out PF

Ins: XT, Laurie, Jefferson, Moose Kentfield Henderson named on the extended bench.

Outs: Milkshake, Salem and TMac

One of the reasons I'm super annoyed about last weeks loss is that this week could have been a free hit against the best and at worst we'd still have been 4-2 at the end of the round.

We have really hit a tipping point with our injuries, especially the small/med backman cluster. Will make it tough to even get close this week. So important to bring intensity from the first bounce.

Sheesh, your list must be struggling when you have McCarthy, Zac Bailey, Morris, McCluggage and Lohmann on the extended bench.

Seriously underwhelming bench. Our depth sucks.

6 experienced starting 18 players that are missing doesn't help

Add Rivers, Bowey, Salem, Melk, Viney & CJ and we'd probably still struggle against a switched on Lions outfit

But without them? Good luck, fellas

There’s more to games than goals - he should’ve kicked two last week and has impacted games in other ways - watch the contest and where/how it’s impacted rather than a stat sheet - two of those games the entire team was average

I would like to see XT , Heath and Kentfield over Jeffo in.

Kentfield just seems to have something imo and we need to give Gawn some support.

Remember the days when the Brisbane Lions could not win on the MCG

Take me back......

You'd be taken back to half time of the semi final v the Lions with us up by 22 points!

From the VFK match Sim report.

"In the shortened match simulation, the main standout performances came from Max Heath, Matthew Jefferson, Luker Kentfield and Xavier Taylor."

Hints there but team balance is a big issue.

We know X Taylor is in.

Jeffo a possible for a fairly mobile forward who can play high.? IMO likely in.

Max Heath has been in great form. Both he and Gawny can play forward at times to mix it up and he can provide more relief in the ruck?

Luker and Hendo may need some more time.

Bench IMO: Windsor, Taylor, Jeffo, Heath, Pickett.

A lot of our team had a shocker last week. Lets hope for a turn around in energy.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
