I would say dropped

Managed due to niggle.

“Xavier has been managing some soreness, and we will give him a week to freshen up and recover,” GM of AFL Football Performance Alan Richardson said.

“It’s more about looking after him and making sure we are setting him up well for the longer term.”

Guess it makes sense to rest him vs Reigning back-to-back Premiers given short break before Anzac Eve match.
Hopefully nothing big.

I always worry when Laurie is selected.

Hope he goes well. But he's my if he's in the team we are in trouble player

Cross, AMW named to play VFL

And also listed as "thumb - 2-3 weeks" on the injury list.

He's uniquely versatile

A tall forward line to say the least.

Will be interesting to see King's tactics

Under 50 points would be a good result but there's always the Luck of the Irish

Free Entry for holders of British passports as well as Irish. (What would Father Murphy have to say)

Was wrong about moose not likely to get the nod but happy he has. Probably most deserving of the reserve players.

It's an interesting tall mix, I'm curious how they manage game time amongst Mihocek, JvR, Jeffo and Heath.

Salem, McDonald and Melksham out at the same time with the players coming in ranging from 18 to 24 years old. Statistically our team taking the field will drop average age by more than a year!

Might actually be worth checking to see if we end up being the youngest team of the round, let's see-

Melbourne 25yrs, 2 months.

Richmond 24yrs 10 months.

West Coast 24yrs 4 months.

I can't see Max and Heath lining up in the same game this year - AT ALL.

Fair to say the above named poster got this one atrociously wrong.

Any chance of Max resting in the D50?

Curious given the height how much ToG Laurie will get, he'll need to have his skates on.

The MC might think that the only way to win is to win in the air (forward line)

Otherwise, we're a tad top-heavy and I can see the Lions having an easy passage out of our forward line

Maybe Heath helps out down back when he's not rucking? Let's hope that Checkers, JVR & Jeffo don't get in the way of each other

very young team

I would assume our average teams last year would 3 years older

Small defenders. Who?? Why no AMW??????? @binmanCharlie Cameron might have a day out

UNAVAILABLE- Bowey, Rivers, Viney, Jiath, Lindsay, Salem (all potentially in best 23), Melksham, McAdam , Campbell, Johnson

Hard to see us winning this one

The tall forward line will be interesting. On the selected Lions side 5 are around that 183cm mark and then Andrews. Gallop will probably play CHB but will still keep them exposed to one of our talls. I guess we will use that triangle of separation that Freo use with their 3 tall forwards. Their smaller defenders will have to double team at least one our taller forwards so the two picketts and Sharp will have a ball if it hits the deck.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
