6 Kozzie Kozzie Kozzie (first time I remember him backing up a super/BOG game with another the next week. So much of his foot passing today was breathtaking)

5 Steele of the century. Turning out to be one of the best trades we have done in years. Smashed it in the middle so Anderson and Rowell had limited imopact.

4 Maximus. Dermie on SEN was saying before the game that even though he thought Gawn was a better overall ruckman, Witts would beat him on the tap. Max smashed Witts and Dermie had to admit he was wrong.

3 Milkshake. Just for that mark alone he deserves votes. Great to see him back in the side playing well.

2 Sharp. This kid runs and runs and reminds me a bit of ANB. Glad he got some reward for hius efforts today (ie a goal).

1 Salem. Best game in a while for the old fella.

Special mention to Langford, Mihocek, XL and ... everyone actually.

3 - Sparrow (re-born)

2 - Melksham (like a fine wine)

1 - Sharp (a revelation)

Apologies to Salem, Lindsay, Kolt, Chandler, Windsor, Lever, Latrelle and a number of others

We had at least 16-18 influential players today and would have beaten a lot of other teams

As always, I like to reward players who beat the expectations

6 Gawn. Greatness does greatness.

5 Steele. Sometimes you can tell who has been a longstanding captain of a struggling club.

4 Pickett. Opposition is always on the back foot.

3 Sparrow. Workhorse. Effective workhorse. Beginning to believe?

2 Melksham. Opposition is often on the back foot.

1 Chandler. Becoming a consistent high-pressure menace. Loved the bear-crawl moment.

Really want to give extra nods to the likes of Sharp, who is turning a career around, Tholstrup who is getting his career started, and the multiple players who stuggled a bit at times but kept at it to be overall winners on the day (Salem, Petty, Turner, LPickett)

Hardwick was adamant in his presser that Gawn was easily best on. I'm not going to argue with him.

What a great, gritty and gutsy win from our boys, it was a joy to be there today and see just how good they are.

  1. Steele - The man of.

  1. Gawn - Had his way at centre bounces and made it look easy. I rate Witts highly but Max handled him.

  1. Kozzie - Watching him play brings the same sensation as eating BBQ sauce

  1. Sparrow - Watch him. He does not stop tackling

  1. Melksham - Can he play forever?

  1. Salem - Tidy tidy game

The whole side was great today. I was close to giving Howes a vote for his 1v1 work I thought he was great. Sharp keeps running, Lindsay, Lever everyone

This 6 for me too, to be clear everyone deserved votes

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
