Jack Silvagni averages 14 games a season over nine seasons. Third forward material at best. I’d take Mihochek every day. He is a known reliable contributor.

Super footballer, absolutely yes. We should have gone after him even harder about 3 years ago when Collingwood last tried to stuff him around.

There's not a chance he's leaving, especially to our basket case of a mid organisation.

They will relent in offering him two years but it must be a concern that CFC two most valuable (not best) players are Howe (35) & Mihocek (32).

Pendlebury, Selwood, Hodge all did it. Sydney used to under Roos but I think started to lose the blood’s culture once they signed Buddy.

Gawn is probably the only one we have with this mindset.

I might be harsh but I think $2.6m for Silvagni is way overs. Handy utility player at best.

I'd be flabbergasted if any player of any note asked to come to melbourne. We are so far off it as an organisation, we have very little pull at all. The best we can hope for is some more fringe players like Derksen, who will end up at Casey like all our other recruits.

My point was not that they aren't underperforming, my point was that people cry in hindsight about their contracts, like we had a crystal ball about the future.

The money they are on now, was very much reflective of their output at the time of their re-signing.

And the reality is that if we trade them out, we aren't going to replace them with midfielders who are on $500k a year. I mean we can, but we won't get any better doing that.

And by the way, it's ridiculous to have expected a 25 year old Clarry and a 26 year old Trac to take 'unders' for the team to set the culture, when they were the hottest property in football.

If there's one senior leader who should look at themselves it's Viney and the way he carried on his negotiations last year.

Once you sign a contract, I don't expect a player to say 'ok fine I'll take less'.

I agree, we are in more hurt than what people realise. Plummeting memberships, questions over the coach's future, a few top line players wanting out last year, form drop, no CEO, basically no president, no identifiable training ground...... I think it's all hitting home and sadly, this all worries me as a club.

$700k does feel overs for Jack, but generally it takes overs to get players attention to move. Especially a popular father/son with a famous name at Carlton.

Normally no but in the case of Oliver he self destructed so he should at least be considering it.

He probably stays but it seems the Pies are walking a tightrope with their over 30s, with Cameron also considering a move back home to West Coast

It would be a win win if we can shake him loose - we get a veteran forward who straightens us up and can teach our youngsters, while Pies lose a veteran and hopefully move one step closer to falling back down the bottom of the ladder

You may think it’s ridiculous but it’s probably why we have a disconnect with our players and lacking in leadership.

It’s not a crystal ball it would have shown the footy world they as individuals had absolute buy in and wanted to build a legacy. I’m not asking them to take massive unders or even take them but let’s not complain about them copping criticism.

Both are probably victims of things beyond their control Trac the kidney/spleen injury and Clarry with his mental health.

It’s not just on field, Clarry caused a big disconnect with his offield behaviour through 2023 and into 2024, which still runs today in the playing group

I fully understand he has personal issues that impact him and may be the reason he is not at the required fitness level he needs to be.

Nobody mentioned $500k for a player, but if we’re paying $1 to $1.2 million give me a second round pick and we’ll pay $3-4 00k to him and have a further $8-900k for a mid who is prepared to get the best out of themselves in terms of preparation and every week is prepared to run both ways.
