Magnificent. Should have been 5 years ago.

A big lump in my throat. What a courageous legend Neil is, well done Champion.

What an awesome man and what a worthy acolade. Well done Australia

Got very teary during his speech. A great man and a great Australian.

Best news I have heard this year.

Well deserved.

Bloody awesome, thrilled he has finally been recognised for all the good work he has achieved raising money for a cure for the Beast. Congratulations Neale and family.

Fantastic achievement- totally deserved in all aspects

I’m so glad they recognised him whilst he was alive and not posthumously.
What an effort this man and the family have done/do.

That's an unbelievable achievement Neale, congratulations to you and the whole family.

Great recognition for an almighty cause.

2025 year of the Demons.

Best news I have heard for a while and thoroughly deserved. Congrats Rev.

Every year when I hear who’s won this award I have the same thought: what if Neale’s not given the honour while he’s still alive. This is a great relief. What a beautiful soul he is.

A great choice and deservedly so.

Well Done Neale! Good to feel good about Australia day for a change...

A magnificent accolade for Neale and his family for their tireless work in raising money, and most importantly, awareness of this dreadful disease. I have lost two of my closest friends to MND and seen its devastating effect. Am so happy the Rev has been recognised in his lifetime. He will leave a brilliant and lasting legacy. Inspirational!

Neale's acceptance speech was selfless and visionary.  Not a dry eye in the house during, for good reason.  What a well deserved award for all of his hard work!

He and Royce Hart won games, big games, single handedly.

So glad this courageous human being took out this prestigious award. Joined many with a tear or two when I heard the news. Such a fighter  being over ten years beyond the average life expectancy. Stay around Neale for another Demon premiership this year.I A thoroughly deserved honour. Congratulations.

Well done, Neale, an award long overdue. You have left an indelible legacy in your fight against the beast.

My sister died from MND in 2000 and back then barely anyone had heard of it or knew what it was.

Neale's bravery and selflessness to put himself in the spotlight to campaign and help those suffering from this fatal disease has been the main reason MND is widely known in society today.

There are no amount words I could personally put together to convey my gratitude to him.

Neale, you are a true hero.

Could Neale somehow get to see all your words (which I share; thank you for finding them)?

Yeah finding the words is very hard. I haven’t watched any of the coverage yet, I’d forgotten it was on and I was watching the tennis. Got a text that just said “Neale, finally 💖” and I burst into tears. The relief was overwhelming.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

It was only a preseason match but the new look Demons spearheaded by new coach Steven King looked impressive as they put on a clinic against perennial cellar-dwellers North Melbourne as they cruised to an 80 point victory at Casey Fields.
