Demons won 11 games with majority of our best 6 players out, with a better draw and some fit players, expecting us definitely to make the 8 and not surprised if we are top 4!

Go Demons!

Goodwin will be back in Adelaide if that scenario is anywhere near correctย

I think I read a little while back that the person he's about to get married to is settled in Sydney with her own young family and would be staying there. That may have changed of course but doesn't his contract run out at the end of the 2025 season? If so there's been no talk of an extension yet.ย

I can see the Crows making the 8 and the Swans missing personally.

Dees could end up anywhere between 5 and 12.

I think Goodwin will be Adelaideโ€™s next coach, but letโ€™s see how โ€˜25 pans outย

ย

ย I think Sydney, dogs and possible Port to drop out of the 8 next year. Possibly replaced withย crows, Dees and Freo.

Obviously a pies supporter. No way they finish 4th

If we have a good run with injuries I'm confident we'll finish top 4 and have another tilt at a flag. I couldn't care less where anyone else finishes although Pies and Blues missing finals would be nice I guess.ย

No I think Goody is signed until ย end of โ€˜26, so donโ€™t think he is going anywhere but then I am pro Goody.๐Ÿ˜

The Hawks are my sliders for this season.ย  They surprised everybody this year, but now teams know what they are about and will be digging into their gameplan.ย  They won't get the unexpected wins against teams that underestimated them again.ย  I expect them to drop out of the 8.ย  2026 will tell us whether their team and gameplan are the real deal or not.ย ย

Also, I can't see us missing the 8 unless we suffer more major injuries. The media pile-on fails to acknowledge that we were essentially playing without three of our best mids.ย  Trac was gone for half the season, Oliver was a shadow of his usual self without a real pre-season, plus playing injured, and of course the loss of Gus not only cost us on-field, but was a massive psychological hit to the team.ย  While we don't get Gus back, the other two are in full flight and training well.ย  Having them both fit and firing, plus natural improvement from the young mids, we'll see a different team next year.ย ย

Like almost any of this โ€” itโ€™s complete garbage & based on nothing more than tipping, thus given avg BEST tipsters avg 60% success rate (and thatโ€™s tipping week to week with exposed form mind you) the odds are this ladder will be about 40-55% accurate at best!!!ย

Dees Pies and Blues will finish top 6 imo

Sydney to slide a bit. Hawks to majorly slideย

Freo to push top 4

Swap the Pies for the Deeโ€™s and I think itโ€™s on the moneyย

Way too early for ladder predictions given how critical a team's preseason is in terms of determining how well they'll go.

So far so good for us in terms of number of players completing all sessions, our small rehabilitation group and no long term injuries (last season we had a big rehabilitation group and came into the season with Gus, Melk, Brown, McAdam all with long term injury, and sparg's nagging achilles soon becoming season ending).

But there is a long way to go before the season starts so I'll wait until late Feb before making any predictions.

Does anyone have any intel on how other club's pushing for the 8 preseasons are going?

No ones training as well as us. In the words of RDB โ€œWeโ€™re training the house down whilst other clubs are stuck trying to remove roof tilesโ€

My early prediction is predicated on the following:

  • At least 3 teams must go and in and out of the 8 each year.
  • I hateย Collingwood as much as the next person but it would be unacceptable if they don't finish top 2 given their recruitment for the now.
  • One of Carlton orย Bulldogs must miss the 8 due to at least one elimination final loser dropping outย the next year (since we became an 18 club league in 2012)
  • People will blast me for this but I expect us to miss the 8. Far too many question marks heading into 2025 and so many things need to align for us to win 14 games or 13 with an excellent percentage.

Kenny, brad Scott and Goody would all be in trouble with that outcome, maybe also Bevo. ย

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
