Am I being pessimistic or does the Jones and Radford promotion read like we couldn’t get anyone more highly regarded into the club? Teague said no to us for instance

Having said that I’m glad they’re being transparent about the findings - let’s hope some of these changes are what we need to get back into finals

The key thing in the whole communication from Green, in my opinion, is the line about empowering the playing leadership group in shaping our 'high performance' culture. Hopefully that empowerment/expectation extends to the whole playing group. For mine, who we bring in is midfield coach is nowhere near as important as our playing group taking ownership of setting the standards and driving excellence.

The Hawthorn Football Club understand that in the end it's the players who get to dictate what the club becomes. Hopefully we are taking a leaf out of their book.

Just read the email from Green, first impressions it's a rose coloured glasses view of a review but we also don't know what criticisms or suggested improvements that were given, not sure about the Jones appointment but that is a wait and see, the most obvious thing to see next year is the gameplan and how it is used.

It’s only early days but FWIW I think Brad Green is doing a fantastic job. Certainly getting on the front foot, great communication and there seems to be a plan. Finally actions and not just words from the club. I feel confident we can turn things around quite quickly and it will translate to on field success.

A 'Member Engagement Committee' at board level.

Hopefully they will give the comms department the rocket they need. Perhaps Russell Howcroft to be engaged as a consultant? Would be crazy not to ask.

Spot on. The process and announcements this week have been first class re: Board, etc. You can't expect any dirty laundry from the Reviews to be public. It's the outcomes that count. Smith as future Chair, Troy Chaplin's forward connection role .  Basset on board with strong coaching credentials.

Sam Radford - ex casey and a schoolteacher. Does this mean some midfield focus on development for younger players?

Everyone trumpets McRae and Fagan are good coaches as ex-teachers . David Parkin another.

Thoughts anyone? I don't know Radford and would appreciate any insights.

During the pre-season, our coaches will work on evolving our game style to maximise the strengths of our playing group, aiming for a style that not only propels us back into the finals but withstands the pressures of finals football.

That's a curate's egg of a sentence if ever I saw one.

Looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

I’m starting to feel positive overall for the first time in ages.

Smith a huge get, for culture leadership and professional management. He’s already saying the right things. We’ve got another 3 years in our window, next 6 months super important- game on.

well done to Brad Green; so good so far.

Sam Radford an internal promotion to midfield coach is a bit meh, but they’ve had him at the club for a while so he’s clearly valued.

Meh?? Have you ever been coached by Sam?

Highly regarded by who. In your own eyes??

Are we ever going to find out the results of the review?

or just this fluff the club sent us?

I know they can’t give us specifics but something more substantial would be good

Don’t get your hopes up.

Changes have clearly been recommended, with many no doubt to be adopted. Due to obvious privacy reasons, that’s all we’re ever going to know

Unlikely.

To be honest, unless there are significant behavioural issues uncovered by the review I would prefer it kept in-house. They may release key findings but as long as the findings are acted on (and supporters will know whether this is happening or not based on the clubs actions) it's best managed by the Board/FD.

A rocket for what?

If you could be specific.

No, he might be the greatest coach there is but he’s still been with us for a while now. Not exactly a new voice

Lack of content and engagement. I’d be surprised if we aren’t 18th on the list of content produced.

Content on where?

I follow on Instagran, Facebook and Twitter, I get regular sponsor updates during the season, the website has quite a few articles, if posters could be arsed reading them.

We have received regular communications, understand past few months we didn't want to give oxygen to some of the more rabid media.

Brad has now cleared the air and stated facts to stop more rabid media.

As of yesterday Joel Smith was no longer a Melb player, so no need to comment.

The nit picking is tedious.

I think we have to be realistic about what has been said in Green’s letter. He does say at the beginning that what follows is high level information and that some things need to be kept in confidence.

As to finding out the results of the review, I think we will see responses to the detail of the review in the next couple of months.

There will be an extensive redefining of roles and responsibilities within the football operations side of the club as well as the same thing happening on the administration side.

Deciding to have these reviews is one thing, structuring and carrying them out properly is another element but the most important thing is understanding the information and outcomes and reacting in the best way.

I would say the 🤮is more a problem than 🤔.  The latter makes me laugh whenever @beelzebub uses it which is all.the.time.  He will be lost without it ...

Maybe.....maybe not..... we'll  see 🤔

Have definitely been impressed with Brad Green's level of communication so far as interim President of the Melbourne Football Club.

Hopefully all the recommendations from both Reviews can be completed in a timely manner.

Lots still to do though...

1) Find a new CEO

2) Action all the recommendations in both the Board Review and the Football Department Review

3) Get our Home Base built at Caulfield Racecourse

4) Create a new Strategic Plan

5) Grow our Membership above 70,000+

6) Win more AFL and AFLW Premierships

Did I miss anything?

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
