Sam Faff is the archetypical nobody just stirring his bucket of Maynards to get attention.

But it is still a rumour I'd be happy to stoke just to annoy West Coast.

These guys aren't winning you big games or finals anytime soon.

Oscar Allen could be a 3-4 goal difference come September.

He kicked 53 goals last year. Put him in our forward line last year and we win the flag.

Not only 53 goals, but 53 goals in a tyre fire of a team.

If there's even a bee's diaphragm of a chance of getting him we need to go chips in.

I know we need mids but when did our forward line crisis get sorted?

We have JVR as our only proven tall. Fristch is great as a medium. Disco may come good. Petty is always injured. Jefferson might be a player or not.

We desperately need mature tall forwards. number 1 priority. So Allen or Waterman would be amazing

We could put Jesus Christ at FF and we'd still struggle to kick a goal if we continue to long bomb as a default tactic, which happens as soon as an opposition applies consistent pressure.

Without at least one elite kicking A grade mid, our forwards will struggle. Trac, Clarry, Viney, Gawn, Sparrow are all average/poor kicks going i50. Langdon, Hunter and Billings are too. Probably a contributing factor in why Riv and Kossie are getting more midfield time. McVee and Bowey will be next in line. But thats robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Where to recruit an elite kicking mid is another question

This.

Probably an unpopular opinion around here, but I don't think our forward stocks are that bad and see how it is getting to them as the glaring issue.

If you copy/pasted guys like JVR, Fritsch, Kossie & Turner into the forward line of a team like Sydney with Heeney, Warner, Gulden and co. kicking it down their throat, they'd be looking like superstars.

Probably the only FF we could bring in now who would make a difference with our current setup is Curnow, cause he has the ability to make something out of nothing, regardless of how good/bad the delivery to him is.

We did very well the last time we poached a club captain.

Allen and Roo marked everything in sight on Sunday. Imagine them in the same forward line?

Won't Hawthorn get JC under the father/son rule? (One for the oldies - that whole God/Peter Hudson thing). I'll let myself out.

Nah, surplus to requirements.

With JVR and Turner we are ok for key forwards I reckon.

Restricted Free Agent... Whatever anyone offers will be matched

Eagles have to spend their money somewhere

May be up for a trade if a club offers a seven plus year deal at big dollars

The same article mentions Tom De Konig... (now there's a sought after player)

So you wouldn’t put Allan in the team because of Turner…..Right, got it 🤦‍♂️

C’mon Binman, you know that we know that everyone knows that he’s well worth the conversation.

He would be amazing for any list but the trade cost would be immense.

We should continue to target skilled mids and small forwards as it's our biggest need currently.

He’s a free agent and if the Eagles finish bottom 4 and get band one compensation they aren’t matching.

The biggest cost is salary.

The discussion shouldn't be we'll be right for KPFs vs we should go after him.

As @MrFreeze says, it's the trade cost and do we have other TPP and list priorities.

I think we'd be better chasing other mids and a gun small forward personally.

But if Kozzy goes and we have the TPP and picks, he'd definitely be handy.

What trade cost???? He's a free agent. The cost is $$ only.

If we have cap space - in all likelihood we can make something work. 100% we throw our hat in the ring, he will make us better. Him and jvr together = gold

So that would be TPP.

We haven't replaced Brayshaw with anyone significant. We would have to have a fair chunk of his TPP still available?

What about Langford or Lindsay ? Not too bad 12 mths on.

Fact is we need one of our premiership or trusted recruits since to step up and take over his extra duties to our footy, culture, and brotherhood.

No All the other frailties will be so much less if you have a marking machine like Oscar in the forward line.

He is what we want JVR to become. Let’s remember JVR might still be a better Full Back than a Full Forward in his next 5 years.

No get him and worry about our Key position Forwards and Backs no more for a decade.

JVR Oscar Disco Jeffo Petty Kenterfield Adams and possibly Verrall.

Didn't one of our brethren over in Perth once say he had a dicky knee?

Could be our Lynch.

Our best chance of nabbing him is a top 4 finish, Petracca endorsing the club as a changed place come year end, Oliver back to his 2021 ways and the forward line showing improvement but still with an Oscar-sized gap to fill.  Go do it Dees.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
