Praying Reid never leaves West coast solely because I don’t think myself or this world is ready for the level of smug pollution from Sam Maclure re-inserting himself into the Harley Reid narrative

his piece about jamara today didn't have nearly the amount of pearl-clutching seen with previous missives on petracca, oliver, horne-francis or others

Personally I believe in using the draft to try to extract the 'star' level talent and then trading to complete the structure or ensure sufficient genuine AFL-level quality across that essential best 25-30.

I'm also a fan of having a pretty long list of new kids in the system even if it means a couple from each draft never quite make it, because even speculative 3rd-rounder turnover still brings the chance of a bonus. Plus, this opens up quite a bit of salary cap space to retain that essential core.

On the other hand, we should make an enquiry of every single free agent that comes up just to inflate their price for whoever does take/retain the player. ;)

Really waste time on enquires?

another weird  post Goffy

Let’s get  some free agency talent to back up our drafting.

Any one who says we can’t utilise Oscar Allen has lost the plot.

Firstly he would be a free agent and secondly unless  a proper and extensive fitness examination is undertaken to our medicos satisfaction then it’s a no perhaps.

It’s an easy plan to get rumour about fitness and Eagles  have done similar before. Darling was supposed to have issues of behaviour prior to the draft and no one touched him!!! So don’t be fooled do your medical diligence. Richmond did it with Angus wasn’t it? But we still got out of it with a win.

Recruiting is about needs and to not go aggressively for top players is not giving your Club its best chance.

To say we don’t need Allan is ridiculous as AJ has just been recruited!!’ Who would you rather have ?

I like our chances up forward in 2025 but a fit Oscar Allan would be a game changer, all the other would walk taller and enable  our existing young potential players to play with greater freedom and confidence.

The Cats have a multi dimensional attack with Jezza Cameron as its match winner an plenty of other options but it’s the star power that is the key to head up anAFL flag winning forward line.

And there is a panic about our aged defenders well Petty Turner JVR and Adams can all play swingman if need be at times.

I regard Binman generally as one of our best judges but on this occasion he is radically wrong on his reasons for no Allen.

Move the grandstand to get quality players that’s why the Cats are perennial contenders.

It's Game Day on Friday night. ANZAC Eve. The big stage at the ‘G. The Demons return to the spotlight for one of our most significant nights on the football calendar, taking on the Tigers in a clash that always carries extra weight given the gravity of occasion of the commemoration of the ANZAC Spirit. Under the lights, in front of a packed house, this is where moments are made. Can the Dees rise to the occasion and deliver on the big stage, or will Richmond spoil the night? All the build-up, discussion, and in-game reactions here. Go Dees.

Round 7 is here, with the ANZAC commemoration games taking centre stage. Who are you tipping this week, and which results would be most favourable for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

From the outset, the Casey Demons lacked any spring in their steps. They were out-hustled and out-bustled and finally outplayed by the Brisbane Lions by 38 points on their home turf in perfect conditions at Casey Fields.
