The loss of Jackson has hurt us!

TDK plays a similar role and I think is even more agile than LJ. Just needs to build a tank and I think could match or be better than LJ.

Anyone have an idea of the %win rate for teams on back to back 6 day breaks in recent years?

Carlton are on back to back 6 day breaks next week which surely isn’t a bad thing for us.

@Bring-Back-Powell against us Carlton will be playing their 5th game in 27 days, we'll be playing out 4th in 29 days.

Not just epic Daicos, but also epic Carlton defence, or non defence.
And why shouldn’t they lose 3 on the trot.
I see Colonwood have a freebie next week.

They look very shabby down back without Saad at ground level and his occasional intercept marks.

Weitering VG aerially of course.

So you wouldn't have him playing for us then?

NUP! I'll tell u who I would love though

I'm with you on De Koninng but Nick Dacios would improve our midfield easily.

Ditto.  Very similar traits to LJ at his best but potentially more upside as he gains experience.

Laughably if Essendon win they will be in the top 4 with a percentage of bugger all, if we don’t salute Saturday night.

Terrible defending by Carlton to let Daicos kick the winner just let him run through the stoppage unopposed

Is Peter Daicos the only father of AFL players?

Carlton such pretenders. Pies looking better, unfortunately.

He won’t be against us.

Apparently.

Huge.  Pies v Blues.  That was pressure.  Finals like. 89000 crowd.  Pies were huge in the contest.  Pressure.  Tackling.  Forward lines were open but the defenders swarmed.  No place for short steps. That was the standard.  Pies will get Mitchell and Degoeeeeeey back. Blues get plenty back in Saad, Marchbank and Martin.  Both will be stronger.  Both are contenders.  Can we match it? Can the Dees bring that intensity.  We did v the Power but not in other games.  We need to be the danger.  breaking bad danger GIF

What a crappy way to wake up on a Saturday morning to see that the pies won last night

it would have been almost as bad seeing blues win   But not quite.

a draw would have been satisfying

Saturday morning is one of the best parts of my week. Lie in, brewed coffee and toast. All spoilt by having every media outlet (TV, social media & internet)gushing over everything Pies, Collingwood, and Daicos. Vomit inducing.

Having said that, yes Daicos can be soft, but he is an absolute gun if you give him a centimetre of space and has a habit of being "lucky" late in games. No luck, simply a very good footy brain and super skills to execute in high pressure moments. And channel 7 constantly showing his dad Peter is excruciating, but he is now a channel 7 person so this is going to go on for some time.

Is it wrong to want a whisky so early in the morning? I will leave the Dalmore, and maybe go the Monkey Shoulder (best budget whisky in the world). This might get me over all this Collingwood BS.

That was really illuminating. Dwayne is very animated in the box. He’s still insufferable, but he does clearly love the game.

they took it pretty well. If it was me I would have turned the air blue.

Imagine if the Blues had won.

The best that can be said is they have got them both out of the way so weekend footy can proceed.

Perhaps free of BT and what must must have been last night's worst commentary team they could put together

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.

Never in doubt!!! In Steven King’s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
