Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Ted Fidge’s Health

For the most part shows like A Current Affair and their ilk are a bunch of muck rakers but this is a terrible story. Poor Ted. I'm sure I read a little while ago that his brother John wasn't having a great life either. Virtually penniless and living in Adelaide.

  • Demonland changed the title to Ted Fidge’s Health

Yes I watched it tonight poor Ted he is only 60 and looks like he has really suffered and has developed early dementia. Very sad for one of our former players.💙❤️😪

Yes had a clear view of the punch that sent Millane to the canvas. Ted won the stoush by a TKO. Millane managed to stand up on very rubbery legs and left the field visibly concussed. John Northey was not impressed it was the last game Ted played.

Recall news of John Fidge, Ted’s more talented younger brother as having some health problems post his footy career too. Wish Ted and his family some satisfactory resolution in dealing with the impact on his health from concussion.

Would be a very positive step forward for the AFL to take meaningful action and accept appropriate responsibility for those former players affected by this affliction

John is a regular contributor on one of the Melbourne Football club supporters facebook pages. He's certainly very very passionate about the club still and follows every moment.

GNS pleased to read about that. John played some good footy for the Demons. Originally hailed from the St Peter’s Football Club in the old ‘hood.

Millane stood on him while Ted was sprawled on the boundary line with the ball out of play. I recall a Collingwood type claiming a king hit, as they were known at the time, which ii sort of was although supposed to have been provoked. We'll never know if it caused any long term damage to Millane.

Very sorry to learn about Fidge's troubles. He and his brother were an entertaining pair although we bundled them off to the Brisbane Bears when the opportunity was forced on us as it was all clubs.

The AFL will only take meaningful action and accept responsibility when it is in their own interest to do so.  Money seems to be the only language the AFL understands.  I hope all the current and future legal action against the AFL forces their hand to make change.

Cheers PM for your recall of the Fidge-Millane incident.  Round 10 1988 At the Waverly Colosseum. A hard fought win against a rampant Collingwood outfit. Remains in my memory as being one the best footy 'contests' I witnessed at Artic Park. Certainly warmed up with the Fidge-Millane square-off. Always had the impression Ted was the retaliator and Millane had been the initiator.

The Faux enforcer picked the wrong bloke that day. Ted used to work out on the weights, he carried in his plumber's van at lunchtime. It was not a 'king hit' as both men were facing each other. Brian 'Willo' Wilson starred that day and led the Demons' comeback to record a resounding victory and most likely earned 3 Brownlow votes when it still meant something.

Both the boys had careers wrecked by injury. Tough business VFL/AFL. It wasn't for lack of talent or commitment that they played so few games. A real shame. I think John went on and kicked a truck load of goals in SA. I can't remember who we were playing, but Rino Richards and the Fidges were running around next to Tempo at one stage. I remember thinking with this talent we would get on a role. Alas.

I seem to remember a game against Collingwood at Waverley where Ted, running back onto the ground from the bench totally cleaned up one of the opposition running past. I'm thinking it was the late 80's.

All I remember about the game is that we got wind that their cheer squad were going to make two run throughs for the game (two big player milestones maybe?) so we made one enormous one that was way bigger than regulation size. Showing just the regulation size of it to the crowd before unrolling another 3-4 metres either side just as the boys ran down the race and before any jobsworth ground stewards could stop us raising it. Those were the days.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
