Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

100% worth it.

Same. Mum and sister are on level 4 at the back. I used one barcode in "best available". Got M8 on level 1.

I’m picking up on the vibe that we may get less supporters turning up this Friday than last week. I hope this is not the case. If this did happen, it would be shameful.

Pretty much all of us have waited a lifetime to see the Mighty Dees being up there as a seriously competitive team. For obvious reasons most of us did not get a chance to actually be in WA to see them win the premiership.

Then all the talk that followed was that the faithful wanted to experience seeing us get a flag at the G. Since then we have been a top four side. That in itself is a pretty good effort. Right now we are still a chance.  It’s going to be tough and the odds are against us. I get it.

If we get vastly outnumbered on Friday and the crowd get Carlton over the line, what then? How will we feel? We will certainly deserve the tag that we are soft fair weather supporters.  I seriously do not want to experience the shame, to face up to the truth of the perception that the rest of the football world has about our softness of our supporter base.

The reality is this. All the chatter on this forum (and elsewhere) about how good or bad we are, what we could / should do really is just that, chatter. Membership numbers are just numbers. It is bums on seats that count.

The only real way we can tangibly help our team is to turn up to the game and actually show our support. Everything else is just talk. We need to be loud and proud.

It will be interesting to see what happens this Friday.

We are going to be outnumbered at least 60,000 to 30,000 only saved by the 15K of us in the MCC

Sadly, I believe you are most likely on the mark. (Can I hope that you are wrong?)

Unfortunately, I was travelling in 2018 when I believe that our crowd and noise was phenomenal in the finals. Wish I was there.

I was however lucky enough to see all our finals in 2021 (SA and WA). In WA the amount of support and NOISE was out of this world. Nothing quite like having 70% of the crowd with you (basically a combination of fanatical West Coast and Freo supporters). Mark my words, the crowd helped our team immensely. (The Geelong game in particular, was pure bliss. You just had to be there)

From a crowd atmosphere perspective the first game the following year back home in Vic (against the Doggies) was flat, almost disappointing. I get it, it wasn’t a final, but it was still flat.

This year it is quite evident that the coach and individual players have almost at times been begging for us to turn up. It makes a big difference. The 19th man syndrome is real.

So we have 70,000 members. Big deal. The sad reality is that we are not as passionate and rusted as we would like to think we are. Yes, as much as I love to hate the Collingwood and Carlton fans (and Essendon and Richmond), I truly am envious of their passion and energy. They have something that we don’t. Yes, I’m jealous.

I am already feeling for our players come this Friday. What they need from us they most likely won’t get.

The price you pay for barracking for Melbourne 😢

I was tasked with booking five seats for five Trident members.

Three devices going at 10am and nothing for 15 minutes. My wife whips the phone out and bang, straight on.

Tried for category 1 & 2. Nothing available.

Got five in category three.  Q12 Row J. Not too bad.

So true. We unveiled our flag that night. We weren’t able to go to footy and watch our ‘21 finals run and drought-breaking premiership. On a beautiful March evening only 58,000 show up? Also 62,000 wasn’t much better for the Brisbane semi final last year. Cut-throat final and not enough of us showed up. You think we might’ve had a different result if we were able to create a hostile atmosphere and at least get 80,000 to that game? We’ll never know.

Still annoyed I spent 40 minutes in the "waiting zone", how can I sit tight at a time like this.

Was only after 1 ticket and no luck.

Will be a MCC walk up on Friday. Still can't believe how many ppl were there early last week from like 2:45pm.

Yep plenty of double dipping in the MCC for both games last week

I know they have a system to prevent double dipping for the grand final, where if you don’t turn up to your balloted reserved seat you’re ineligible the following year to enter the GF ballot. I wish they could implement similar for all finals. Or change the seats that are available to reserve. Why do they put all of Q up for reserved seating? If you’re early enough of course you’ll find a spot in walk up instead of your nose bleed reserved seats.

Please. 93k last week and they finally got started about half way through Q2. We did our bit.

And the price YOU in particular pay for barracking for Melbourne? That you’re associated with the rest of us flakey supporters? Dial it back a bit matey..

I was a MCC reserved seat against Collingwood up in level 4, there were 6 empty seats next to me the entire game and I was about 1/3rd of the way up. Surprised no one claimed them instead of trekking to the top every time they went to get a drink.

Maaate sorry if I offended you. It was not my intent. How does ‘the price I pay’ sound?
Ps Had no concern or issue with last Thursday’s crowd. In fact I was proud how they (or should I say) some of us gave it to Maynard for the rest of the game. My concern is with how many may or may not attend this Friday.

I’m still lost, what price do you pay for being the most dedicated of our 70,000 supporters that the other 69,999 of us fairweather supporters don’t pay?

It was a figure of speech. Could have a go at you for using the word ‘us’ as being a bit presumptuous also,  but seriously…..

But to try and answer your question without causing you further angst, anguish or offence…..In my opinion we are not the most raucous crowd out there in football land. I do get frustrated at times when I have attended games where we had the larger crowd but the opposition seemed to make more noise. That could be in part due to where I was sitting, could be due in part to how our team was performing, could be due to other reasons. So the ‘price I pay’ is that at times I get frustrated with our level of support. Perhaps it is just me.

Yep I’m a passionate supporter. …And I could say I’m lost when you infer that I have stated that I am the most ‘dedicated supporter’. FFS!
Social media sucks at times. I don’t even know why I had bothered to try and respond and explain . Over and out.

Their current system for Grand Finals is that if you have a reserved seat your barcode is deactivated until 12pm so you can't walk up to level 1,2 or 3.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
