I've been more than happy to hear sensible arguments the condemn Maynard but comments like this are pure hyperbole and are making it harder to sift through the hysteria on here. Gus had the ball in his hands, how on earth can you tell he wasn't looking at the ball?

He jumped when the ball was kicked his head didnt turn to follow the ball or body turn to reach with his right hand which would be a normal reaction if watching the ball

If this was the other way around we would be carrying on.  Nothing to answer for he actually missed the footy by a couple of cms.  Footy is in a bad spot if these incidents become suspendable.

Next it will be a knee to the head in a marking contest

Nah, can’t have that.

Attempted spoils that miss the ball and that end up in front-on contact are frequent and rarely end up with a player knocked out.

Maynard knew exactly what he was doing. They will grade it careless but that turning of the shoulder was meant to impact Angus. If was a body shirtfront and Gus got up and played on there would be no case to answer.
The fact he copped it right in the face and got taken out and was KO’d has to result in a suspension.

I was particularly [censored] off that Patrick Dangerfield seemed to be more concerned with asserting Maynard's innocence at length rather than showing any concern for Brayshaw's wellbeing.

And as president of his peers no less. Then again, what do expect from someone who also did a "footy act" in a final and got away with it:

Wow that is damning. Why is maynard “protecting himself” here? The only person that was ever going to get hurt here was Gus.

Exactly. No one gives a dam about Angus in the Media. It is disgusting

Maynard could have swung to the left and the game goes on…

He didn’t, thus Brayshaw’s career must be in some jeopardy

Straight to the tribunal. Good

He'll get off

I think it was a consequence of C'wood coming out to hurt Dees, the hit every consequence hard, I think we all know deep down that Maynard attacked that smother, over committed, and shaped to make the collission hurt...

But, such a short time, and in the process of a football act... They'll let him off

And now the media now pushing a narrative of 'it's an optics thing' and will be overturned at the tribunal. This has included footage of a knee to Brayshaw's head some time prior with the inference that it was also partly a cause of him being knocked out.

Remind me why some things go straight to the tribunal.

Please

It usually spells trouble for the perpetrator.  They are saying 3+ with all the criteria (severe impact etc)

That's according to Tom Browne so don't quote me (haha)

We all know key players get taken out in big games a . It's the VFL/AFLs big loophole. Has been for years. Maybe I'll watch the NRL finals instead this year. They attempt to do something to take out the advantage for the aggressor on the day.

well said. Can you imagine the different focus if that was Daicos. Disgust is what I feel as well . I think sometimes the media give pro collingwood coverage just to make sure their supporter base  engage.

If this piece of dog [censored] doesn’t miss the rest of their season I’ll be dead set ticked off. Because chances are, Gus will miss ours.
No doubt he will get off because #bigclubbro

Michael Christian is horribly compromised. Why, as a former Collingwood player, is he even allowed to be involved in the process? Sounds like he wanted to argue 'no case to answer' to keep sweet with his mates and it's been leaked. Perfect outcome for him really.

Watched it a few times. He could have put his hands out to Brayshaws shoulders/ upper chest to absorb the impact with his arms, but instead he chose to put his shoulder out to transfer all the impact to Brayshaws head!!

Quote

The Match Review Officer and executive general manager of football Laura Kane graded the incident as careless conduct, severe impact and high contact, drawing a minimum three-match ban and means Maynard's season could be over.

so they bypassed the ex collingwood mro officer ... good

tribunal will uphold as it is afl dominated and they are scared [censored] of concussion litigation

then will go to appeal and all the kings men

I hope for once our club sent in a scathing medical report as opposed to being the nice guys.
Photos of Gus’ shiner, documents about his previous condition, impact to his and his family’s well being following this nasty collision.

Bury this thug and bury his club. Hope he misses finals and it burns in his guts forever. Payback for all the cowardly thug acts he’s committed over the years, including this one that could end the career of an actually BRAVE player who plays the ball. Not the man.

The side vision is telling and brutal with Maynard travelling at full speed toward Brayshaw. If Brayshaw had fumbled and not got the kick away, I am sure Maynard would have just continued on, colliding with Angus. We know what the intention was. The days of white line fever play are over. It was careless conduct so must wear the consequences. For some reason it has taken all day for the MRO to handball it to the tribunal where I am sure the lawyers will get him off.

"I think we have got a team that can win a premiership, and if we get in this year, I don't think there is a team that is going to want to play us. This year is not a write-off, I don't concede that. Not at all." — Collingwood President Jeff Browne. I love this sort of optimism from the Magpie President after his club’s eleven goal defeat at the hands of the fast rising Hawks. It’s consistent with the fighting spirit of the club that won last year’s flag.  I only wish I could say the s

    FEARS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne’s worst fears about the absence of Max Gawn were realised when it received a shellacking from Fremantle’s ruckmen Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson who dominated the hit out tally in their game at Optus Stadium on Sunday by a massive 47 to 19. As a result, the 50-point deficit at the end of the game proved to be a loss that was long foreseen that was two years in the making and demonstrated a complete lack of hindsight and planning from the club. To add insult to injury, Jackson was a D
