What gets me is the whole competition knows Gus is a concussion survivor and plays on a wing and prayer and is the one player you dont deliberately knock out. Maynard knows Gus and knows this well. 4 weeks.

Maybe he didn't mean to do it..which makes it careless rather than attempted murder.

Whatever the penalty is for the boxes he ticked

Jack was probably more considered with his wild right hook.

What if that had landed?

If you wanted outrage wait until the Pies get Maynard off on appeal !!!

So obvioulsy everyone is still annoyed and frustrated about last night. I think it hurts more because it was the filth we lost to and put them straight into a prelim.

That first quarter was horrendous for us. We let them get out to a to bigger lead and we were playing catch up all night.

I know Max dominated after half time but Cox and Cameron dominated him in the first half. It was frustrating to watch Cameron mark and goal last night, somethng I wish Max could have done.

I still cannot believe professional footballers kicked it out of bounds on the full last night going for goal. At crucial times to when we made all the play

Keeping the pies to only 2 behinds in that final term was great but we butchered it.

Yeah we were to slow in moving the ball. Many a times we could have got it into our 50 when there was space but we waited and it allowed pies players to get back.

I have no idea what we'll do next week in regards to our forward line.

How twice we let collingwood respond with goals after we kicked a goal so quickly

Having 32 inside more 50's. It just hurts

Langdon getting dominated by Sidebottom then taking that advantage and missing. I'm not sure what's happened to him lately.

Hunter I feel like we got dudded with that trade. I was expecting him to be more of a goal kicker.

Olivers kicks just don't amount to anything.

Poor Max, the bloke tries to get his team over the line but he needs support

Because it was their home game.

There should be no home games in finals. You get the home ground advantage, but beyond that it should be neutral.

I hate all this pre and during game entertainment anyway. It is loud, obnoxious and completely irritating.

Please some music at a normal level, call out the players names pre-game (I do like that because it gets the crowd going), and just leave us in peace during breaks.

Well according to King and Co they Poor Pies didn't get enough of an advantage and should have got 75% of the tickets.

I don't want to talk about the footy last night but about the absolutley vile behaviour of the Collingwood supporters last night.

We sat in N50 in the General Public about 5 rows from the back. There were a seething group of Collingwood supporters about 5 deep behind the rail. In front of them was a young Demon supporting family (Dad and three young kids). What those ferals subjected them to was disgusting. The police directed by the poor MCC attendant attempted to say something but it continued. At half time the Dad stood up and said something back and thankfully it didn't escalate from there when the police walked over again. The poor man could not move anywhere as there no seats to move to.

At the end of the game with about a minute left two Collingwood supporters stood up in front of us so we couldn't see. I just touched the man on his back and motioned him to sit down, we couldn't see. It was so loud I couldn't say anything. His retort back to me was " you've lost so what do you f.....n care"  with a finger and continued to stand up.

So the siren goes all the Melbourne supporters trudged out, I get to the top of the stairs and there is a woman (Collingwood supporter) with a beer can standing there pointing her fingers at this 14 year old who was on the verge of tears " did you hear what this f..n c said to me". He was part of the family that had felt the brunt of vile behaviour of the mob behind them. I grabbed him as he had become separated from his family and dragged him away. His Dad came up to me absolutely shaken.

I have woken up this morning not thinking about the actual game but wondering if I have been sheltered sitting in the MCC area. I dont think so. I have never been subjected to or seen this kind of vile behaviour before but it makes me so happy that I am a Melbourne supporter.

I know some on here will say that there are bad supporters in any team but this level was unbelievable.

Thanks for listening🥲

They're not called the filth for nothing

A rarity, I met a really nice Collingwood supporter last night whilst watching the game at a Perth bowling club. Turns out he is Byron Pickett’s uncle and Kozzy is a cousin of his. I asked him why he followed that mob and he said he’s followed them all his life and can’t change.

Literally just handed the flag to Collingwood.

Here i was thinking I had full faith in Goodwin, but how wrong was i. We're heading for a straight set exit in finals two years in a row purely of arrogant teams selections and senior players failing to stand up when needed.

McDonald, Salem, Chandler Laurie were absolutely trash.

Petracca and Gawn were the only ones willing to stand up but unfortunately the rest didn't want to follow.

McDonald can honestly retire for all i care. Needed that goal to just completely turn the game and he had a mare.

So disappointing.

well what can you do when Brown goes down, then Petty, then Tmac, then Melksham comes good then hes injured. There are only so many options.

Just walked into my shopping centres the first thing I see is 4 people sitting down in Collingwood polos drinking coffee. Get stuffed

I would have wanted to charge straight at them and jump in the air with arms and legs swinging.  Spill coffees or cause injuries?  Sorry, just an act of congratulations!

Come on folks, let’s regroup. It ain’t over ‘til it’s over.
There’s an open training session on Sunday at Gosch’s from 11:30am.
Take your kids if they missed out last Wednesday cause it could be over next week, but it won’t be.

I mean seriously what's the point in the cops being there if they just laugh off abusive/aggressive behaviour? There's a difference between banter and aggression.

Do we need to get some new voices in to assist goody. I mean Chaplin has been with us for 7 years and we still don't have a kicking out plan and I just feel Stafford isn't the answer either.

You weren't a fan of bombing it straight down the guts to an unmanned Quaynor?

I once reported a Pies supporter at a QB game who was calling Nev Jetta a *insert incredibly insulting racist slur*

They said “we can’t do anything about what he says”

Not responding to what happened to Gus is the most embarrassing  and annoying thing about this club.

We should have crunched them at every turn. Laid twice as many tackles. And I mean tackles that rattle and leave a reminder..

I'm sorry but it was a soulless game after that.where we didn't stick up for our mate.

We were bullied and didn't fight back.

Nothing changes - same thing happened last year with Langdon and back in 2008 with Watts and going back further to 58. Same old story with Collingwood.

Don't go and retaliate with Maynard, stick a knee into Hoskin Elliot when he's standing in the defensive hole, dump Sidebottom and Pendlebury in tackles, flatten Murphy or Mihocek.

Yep. I mentioned in the pre game post that we beat them in June after kicking bad and if we kick straight we win. Unfortunately we again kicked poorly, not only the behinds but many out of bounds on the full that could easily have been goals. This along with to many passengers was our downfall. Got a lot of work to do in a very short time but not all is lost. We can beat Blues/Swans and then Lions/Port to get to the big dance but we need more contributions across the whole team not just the normal 4 or 5.

Same thing happened last year against them round 20. We probably need to consider it's not just bad luck but where they are forcing us to take our shots from that is causing the inaccuracy.

I sprinted out of the G at the end for this very reason. I don't like them, and have never had exits from the stadium worse than these games.

The elephant in the room for mine is a ready-made and experienced utility on the list that used to play chf and as a forward for GWS yet we chose a bloke who has played maybe one good game in 2 years:

Tomlinson is one of the enigmas of the recent team selections, for me. I have been impressed with his ability, build and mobility since he joined the Mighty Dees. I prefer him on the wing - where we once played him - for his talent to 'go solo' finding absolute space continuously and ready to receive.

These were the days when our 'long-bombing' was our absolute stamp on the game ... and Tomlinson was always 'overlooked' by downfield defenders/midfielders striving to put the ball on top of the forwards'/deep forwards' heads in packs - another kicking statistic and metres gained marque for that distributor. We were just getting out of that poor habit but it has returned for unknown reasons to our modus operandi.

Your suggestion of putting Tomlinson as a CHF makes sense to me, in the absence of two or three key forwards due to injury and the onset of '...[censored] on a bull...', aged weariness. What are the positives? Well, Tomlinson does have an impressive frame, is quite quick and mobile and finds space so well he decreases the prevalence of opponents that assists him to mark and play on with considerable ease (and these attributes characterised his game and applied talents for what was about 60% of his game time - when someone lined him up with a foot pass, eventually. So, we made him work out of synch as a backman. Heh? Just to interrupt the game flow of Lever and May, in a crowd.

Tomlinson can mark, bump and is more mobile than most, is a remarkably agile tall, is very fit these days and in reality, is built like a brick xxxxhouse, quite good at freeing himself from tackles, holds, jarring collisions, episodes of holding. I repeat, he also finds consistent space and can do much within it. Now, as part of his baptism as a 'defender', he also knows a few more tricks with the old 'don't argue' tackle and those tackles that stick, within the rules.

If he plays at CHF and gets three kicks, two marks, and two goals, he will have done more than those asked to step into the breech. He'd play a good wayside chapel for the long-bombers who attempt to move the ball effectively into the forward arcs. He'd most probably synch very well with JSmith, another agile forward with an ability to find space, take the grab and slot the goal - and play a defensive mindset within the forward line.

Just some thoughts ... perhaps, worth a try?

No, both of our finals last year were our home games. Last night was a Collingwood home game as decided by ladder position. On the subject though, their halftime, qtr time and 3qtr time “entertainment “ was as lame as you’ll ever see, especially the stupid “hot pies vs hot chips” thing. Spend some money ffs, CFC.

And why does Collingwood turn up the volume to 11 at the breaks? It's already too loud. And when they invite 10 year olds to yell into the microphone.. give me a break.

24 hours later, and I am still annoyed.

However, we lost by 7 points and totally outplayed the Pies in the 2nd half. Are we ever that bad in front of goal 2 weeks in a row? I reckon we can turn it around. I still believe.

And I would love us to meet the Pies again in the GF.

Well hopefully the storm have a good win tonight and make my weekend a little better.

It must be nice having another code to run to in times of need. Unless your team is not doing well in that code either, of course.

Is the Storm going well? I I always forget they exist. It’s a good name. It’s a shame they couldn’t call themselves the $hitty Melbourne Weather.
