Sounds like trouble, rising 29yo knows more than fitness professionals,  a no from me.

It's never as black and white as that. He would have expressed his worries about what he could 'feel' as he knows his body best... if as detailed elsewhere, he pushed through as directed, and subsequently tore his hamstring, after being told he will be 'fine' - rightly or wrongly it would be hard to trust best available advice going forward... just to rinse and repeat rehab.

Seems like a great Melky replacement, much more mobile, physically imposing and still happy to take grabs and kick goals.

I’d say he is the perfect fit for our needs up forward

Smokescreen of irreparable relationship to force the move through?

Their most popular player, tex, gets suspended for racist comments about an Aboriginal player and then there is the whole camp nightmare and a loved figure like Eddie betts leaving the club because it the cl7b is not cultural safe.

Well it will be interesting watch to see if Tex has learnt anything.   Will he give Shane the same farewell from the Croms as he gave Rick Lever?

@Grand New Flag can you please confirm that you’ve been hearing this for a while?

I am shocked and dismayed that we didn't hear this from #thetradewhisperer first!

It'd be a great get I reckon. Has pace, good skills and needs a fresh start. He will know the drill. Come to preseason fit, work your absolute butt off and just maybe get to run out on the G with the best team in the land. Over to you Shane.

Reading that Big Footy thread, they’re saying that Rucci clarified that it’s a Melbourne based club, as opposed to the MFC.

To be fair though, South Australia is not only just 30 minutes behind us in time but also behind us in intelligence.

He was pretty quick from memory? Half back role maybe?

A bit Kozz like....winger imo

If we acquire him, could it be that Spargo asks to break his contract and head elsewhere? Would we stand in his way?

Nup!

I always find the perspective of fans from the player the club is from the most interesting, so for anyone wanting a quick read...

https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/shane-mcadam-requests-trade-to-melbourne.1370279/

Had a quick read. I forgot what a delusional place forum is. There are Adelaide supporters who genuinely think  a straight swap for one of Grundy , Petty or Sparrrow is fair  .

He can if he comes stop the ridiculous habit of Kossie flying for impossibles or unrealtistics!!

Goody can impose that on Kossie and he can kick 50 instead of 40 per season!!

Melksham’s. Competes so well in air, recovers at ground level, exactly what we need in 3rd fwd option — massive get for club!

3rd Forward is Fritta's to lose He May be 4,5 or6 depending upon where Kossie fits!!

Classic in window trade in. 2024 is 29yo season. Quick medium forward  who can take a grab and lay a tackle. Fills a definite need on our list.

Could this be a trade that may include Tommo? Adelaide needs key backs and Tommo and McAdam are the same age I think. They're both also kind of on the fringe of their best 22s, a bit in and out. I don't know, just a thought

We tried to lure Jamie Elliott a couple of years ago, this sounds like a similar play.

Didn't Clarry express similar grievances on the track with our fitness staff?

Seems like the club targeted Mcadam prior to Melksham doing his ACL. A genuine goal kicking half forward is exactly what we need.

Depending on the final price Shane fills a crucial hole in our list and at 28 provides another hard body to cover for Jake Melksham plus he can also mark, kick and tackle. Win - win.!!

Sounds like a sensible decision.

I know he's been injured but only 50 AFL games at 28/29. Was he a late recruit?

Think he was 23 when Adelaide added him to the list in the McGovern deal. Sounds like he didn’t seriously invest in footy until he decided to move from Halls Creek. Is a cousin of Bedford. Wonder if Toby gave us a good reference?

Just wondering, is he available next week?

Trust the club, but personally want Melksham to come back from his ACL, couldn't see McAdam being a 3year proposition, and he would have to buy into the defensive aspect of the role. Like others if he didn't get on with Burgess I'm wondering?

Fwiw, I was told after our '21 GF from someone experienced in AFL fitness circles that Goody and Burgo had some differences of opinion in terms of responsibilities, that is, keeping out of club politics. Goody was OK with him returning to SA. Just repeating what I was told.

Might explain the recruitment of Griffiths at the end of 2020 as his understudy.

I wouldn't discount McAdam based upon his relationship with Burgo

Just had a read over at the Big Footy Adelaide forum and McAdam is a perfect fit for the forward line moving forward. Knows how to jump and mark the ball, has X factor and is fast. Defends well with his pace and athleticism. Apparently he is a good pack mark too.

With a forward line like this;

McAdam. Petty.  Fritsch

Pickett.  JVR.  Nibbler

Chandler, AMW, Smith and hopefully a FWD/Ruck (I like the idea of Chol) rotating through. This forward line has a very good balance of height, pace, mobility, defensive factors, toughness, X factor and goal kicking ability.

My only worry here is a few on this list are injury prone. Including McAdam.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
