Wow.

Now we will only have to go to Geelong for the next 20 years.

Does this mean less road trips and other entitled club benefits?

Probably not Layzie we are the founding club the oldest in the land we have to lead the way as usual, no special benefits like the rest.!!!!

Good chance we still get shafted down to the Cattery and Norff in Tassie.  8 interstate trips and no mid season bye .

Nothing changes but it makes MFC  a strong resilient club though.

DC, you must be shattered, mate, you've been providing great updates all the way along, and bloody @dazzledavey36 pips you at the post. 🤣

Good. Let's now lobby to get treated on an equal footing to other teams in terms of fixture, prime time television and playing at Geelong.

This really is absolutely incredible.

To reach 70,000 is a historically important achievement for the Melbourne Football Club.

I understand some of these members are last minute for finals tickets. But it still shouldn't be disregarded.

To think that this amazing Club that we all love almost went extinct in 1996 when we almost merged! We almost went bankrupt a few times too.

For many years we have struggled to get above 20,000 members. Then we were happy with 40,000 members a few years ago.

If we continue to have success then we will hopefully continue to grow.

What a time to be a Melbourne Demons member. Something I have been for 25 years. It really does bring tears to my eyes.

May our beloved Melbourne Demons keep going from strength to strength!

Let's aim for 75,000+ members in the near future!

It just proves that winning Premierships and sustained success will grow your membership. It is a very simple formula.

GO DEMONS!!! 🔴🔵👹

What is the definition of a 'big club'?

A HUGE well done to all of our Demonland brothers and sisters, and everyone else whose hearts are possessed by the red and blue!
Like every one of us, I’m so excited by what lies almost within touching (kicking?) distance in 2023  ……. and beyond!  Imagine what Flag or two might do to our future membership tallies.  Go Dees!

Top 4 three years in a row.

Goody and team are doing their bit.

Congratulations to all of us.

Really nice to go to a game and see a range of ages and different nationalities decked out in red and blue. Feels like the club is gathering a lot more new supporters - as opposed the the declining number of 50+ year old, homogenous, grumpy, ex private schoolboys in the mcc (of which I am one) that made up most of our 15k of supporters  who turned up 10-15 years ago.

we did well to hang on

I really never saw us being the club we are now. What a joy!

Such a brilliant result. Well done to everyone who paid up!

Now let’s win another flag and get to 80,000!

shattered? why would you think that?

i'm overjoyed to see my prediction of 70k come true

So good! Who'd have thought we'd get here 10 years ago?

And shout out to the roughly 5% of that figure who are AFLW members. According to the club, we've broken our AFLW membership record again as well.

This is a significant moment. I was watching some clips from the 1990s of Shwartz and Neitz the other day, lucky to be 20,000 people at the ground let alone 20,000 members. And then the whole "benefits of losing" and Mark Neeld eras.

We are a large, successful, financially stable, long term sponsors-keeping, attractional club with exceptional personnel in the Board and Executive, and great staff & volunteers behind the scenes. We have a dogged, resilient, brilliant coach who the players love, and a team full of talent and marketable personalities. Top 4 - 3 years running.

Best jumper in the game, our home is THE home of the game, we ARE the history of the game.

I have waited a b****y long time for this and I am going to revel in it, and brag about it. Loving it.

For $30 a year I'd implore all of our supporters who can afford it to consider taking out an AFLW membership. Supporting and investing in our womens competition now will contribute in a significant way to our on field success and pay massive dividends in building our womens competition and making us a big destination club.

And included in that you can choose between a tote bag or water bottle! 😁

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
