Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Agree with everything, but most shizzenhuisingly was Rohnot playing his career best game

But how often does that happen?

It seems that someone plays their best game ever against us regularly.

Also Jack Henry has been bulk ordinary since his return, but turned it on last night.

Just now, Roost it far said:

Tomlinson back, Petty forward

light week on the track

lots of goal kicking practice

dismiss that game, it’s not a true indicator of where we were at

Oh yes it was🤮

If that was really said (which I strongly doubt), what a stupid bloody comment from someone who has never played football. Anything can happen from here to September. And based on Petty's absolute shocker last night and Tommo's excellent game against the league leaders (only to be dropped), she might want to think about keeping her thoughts on team selection to herself

If she actually said that Tomlinson won't be playing in September effectively ruling out the bloke's chance for any future selections then that is really disappointing and he should just quit or seek a mid season trade that doesn't exist.

No it wasn’t. We were completely out on our feet. It was played on a ramshackle oval in the rain after our bye. Meaningless. We sit 3rd with a good draw leading into our 14th Flag. Relax and stop making mountains out of it

A good first 3 quarters where the game was pretty even.  In the last we pushed too high and didnt have the legs to run back.  Post-bye/loading impact?  Conditions set the tone, and made it even more fatiguing,

who was the [censored] from Geelong the pushed an obviously injured Viney back to the ground early on?

We were outmarked in the last, and they just kept forward speed on the ball.  Kicking off the ground and getting it moving fast at all costs.  We were out of gas.

Some players had very average contributions.  Must be a few spots in the side now open if there is anyone in the twos who can step up.

Gawn up forward isn't working. He should have a real presence but doesn't.

Doesn't get to enough contests and isn't playing in front.  It looks like he is cruising

On another note twice last night Brayshaw kicked the ball to a player calling for it (just making position is calling for it) and both times the players calling for it gave up on the play

The first time Rivers should have shielded the ball from the Cats player coming in from the side but didn't.  A soft effort and he didn't want contact

The 2nd time the ball was directed at Petty late in the game and Petty did not even make a contest.  Completely gave up on the play.  Super-soft effort

Yet people here want to blame Brayshaw?  Astonishing lack of knowledge

We are too reliant on our backline & midfield.

Forward line collectively is hit and miss

Too many players in our forward line get kudos for pressure acts, try actually winning the ball more then you won't have to worry as much about chasing the opposition

JJ didn’t do his cause any favours last night. Not the final nail in his coffin but I can’t see him being with us next year now.

Ha ha!

No just someone who obviously sees the whole game better than you do

Try watching without anyone in the gun one time.  You might then see what our overall issues are

Your Brayshaw bashing is churlish & childish

I love our focus on pressure but I think you make a decent point. Our forwards need more cutting edge, simple as that. We look toothless up front and it's hard to see an avenue to goal.

Footy is hard and AFL defences are hard to play against, we get it. But this is why you need to keep evolving your play and coming up with new ways to get looks at goal.

We just had no legs in the last quarter. We were the better team before then by a fair way but didn’t put it on the score board.
Our goal kicking is a massive problem at the minute there’s no doubt about that. We really need to get back to our early season kicking form to have a right crack at the flag.

I don’t think this would have made the difference but I agree it felt wrong.

I felt we got a couple of lucky HTB calls early but then throughout the game some critical umpiring decisions went against us:

1. The lack of HTB on Kolodjashnij 30m out from our goal at the start of the 3rd (blatant HTB, horrendously missed)

2. Not calling Chandler’s advantage back (he took the kick a microsecond after the whistle, that gets called back 90% of the time)

3. The “throw” paid against Viney (the umpire had to have guessed, he was blindsided)

4. The lack of HTB on Rohan in the middle of the ground when Petty wrapped him up (another blatant HTB not paid, can’t recall if they scored from that chain though)

No, it wouldn't have made any difference.

We are now passed the halfway mark of the season, and I still have no idea what our forward or backline setup is going to be heading into September, nor do I really understand our game plan.

I just hope our coaches have a better idea of what is going on than I do.

The fact that we are resting our ruckmen in the F50 shows the coach doesn't believe our forwards have the necessary ability to take a mark. What puzzles me is they almost never make a lead for a kicker to aim at. They just wait, with the opposition and all our other forwards for the kicker to dump it on their heads.

This is a typical misconception. You cannot lead in the F50 when it is flooded with defenders. There is just nowhere to lead or kick to with the gameplan we employ.

Last quarter was really disappointing - it looked like one team was playing for their season and the other was pretty much going through the motions and felt a win was not important.

We had the best chance we can get to beat them on their dung heap, and we just didn't seem to match their effort.

In a close competition and with teams nipping at our heals these games are important - we have yet again let ourselves down I feel.

Top 2 finish gone as a possibility which should have been enough motive IMO

Lost at selection. Jordan should never be selected again – he's not up to it. Petty should have been selected forward. Tomlinson should have stayed in the team.

I think this is a bit harsh.  Jordan has played well in a variety of roles.  Agree that Tomlinson was very stiff.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
