What's happened to Kozzys dare and speed? Been very irrelevant for weeks now.

Observations:

- they’re taking almost every contested mark, which means we can’t retain ball

- it’s turnover city for us. Crazy.

- ground feels like it’s 15 x 20 with straight wings (literally, straight)

- no room

No. Just cold and confused why he’s in Geelong.

Don't blame him. Imagine playing to packed stadiums every week then walking into that dump of a half Auskick sized ground

Not called out by the commentator despite them showing the replay. Contact with injured players was banned was it not. Should get looked at but probably won't because he returned to the field.

Lucky it’s started raining. Cats skills and defensive marking was killing us. Bit of rain nullifies it. Plus, we piled on goals against Port up there in the wet. Frustrating to watch what we’ve become in 2023. Just a bottom 8 level side.

Yeah he is gone for that. Has to be

The scrapping onto Tracc and Gawn is pure Scott.

How they both haven’t received 3-4 frees each is beyond me. Lay a finger on a cat and whistle goes immediately

Not sure what Kosi offers. Cannot win a one on one

Bit hard when you are 5' and they kick it 9' in the air

Did we fly across yesterday to train? Doesn’t look like it!!

Anyway despite being terrible, we’re only a goal or so down. It’s annoying because the cats aren’t even playing that well! It’s just that they’re not making as many dumb decisions as us. Better skills and capitalising off our errors.

If we sharpen up, we will win this.

Agree if we get to normal disposal for a VFL side, let alone AFL.

Are we actually ever going to play like a top 4 side? Our skills are the worst i’ve seen in a while..

Just quietly we have 6 frees they have 2

I think so. All over them. Just need to steady and find some space.

BS

Rivers called for it and then made a weak attempt at marking

Rivers called for it mostly stationary and Gus hit it out in front for Blicavs to intercept. Rivers never had a chance. Had Rivers gone harder he’s still not 200cm, the ball still would’ve been out of reach, Blicavs spoils anyway.

Theres a fundamental game plan issue that players don’t move in and out of space in a coordinated effort to get the ball on the move.

But if you are going to kick in to the corridor it has to be low and flat and Gus simply doesn’t have that kick.

We're slow to move the ball,  turning it over, kicking to outnumbers, letting them switch at will,  letting them chip into their fwd line whilst we bomb the ball high to a 4 on 1

Wtf have they been doing over the break?

Frankly win or lose, I have had a gutful of pigheaded Goodwin and bombing it into our forwards. 2 years this damn issue can't be fixed.  Kozzie needs to get going or drop him.

Viney, Tracc, Grundy, Smith & Fritta

May, Hibbo, Lever holding up.  Petty getting to contests but rusty with hands.  To be expected given time away and conditions. Spoiling well though

Hunter doing ok on his side

Lingers i would bench for much of this quarter for Gus.  Reset message for Lingers needed at the break.  Terrible.

Kozzy was nowhere near it that quarter.  Chandler was on the bench for the most part it seemed?

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
