I said this in the post-match but I am hopeful that the decision to sub Spargo off, and the lack of impact having one fewer small forward had on us, is a sign that we're thinking now about dropping one small forward and adding a midfielder.

IMO it should be Oliver for Spargo. We lose little forward of the ball and don't have anyone else to drop who is more worthy.

I love Hibberd and have loved his season, and I think right now he holds his spot over Bowey. I'm not sure there's a spot for Bowey anywhere else right now, other than perhaps as sub.

If Petty's fit, I think he gets a run at Casey first. JVR and Smith are doing enough right now. I think we have to reward them and let Petty convince us that he is a forward.

So for me it's Oliver for Spargo and that's all.

I agree on the point of dropping Spargo for Oliver, makes sense.

I think with Hibbo, we will keep him in while his Achilles is okay, Bowey will swap when a rest is needed. The back 4 of McVee, Hibbo, Rivers and Hibbo are all in excellent form, so one will need to make way through form or injury as the year rolls on. Good problems.

Are posters actually serious when they suggest dropping Pickett?

I don’t think he should be be dropped but he really needs to pull his pants up & get the bloody ball.

Patience is wearing thin

And what does he do when we don’t have the ball? In this defence first team? Where front half turnovers are worth so much?

All the noises I hear from Goodwin and Stafford tell me he does his job so well, it doesn’t matter if others get the rewards.

Agree with this, but 6 possessions???

Kossie is badly out of form but he should not be dropped. He just needs a spark to reignite and I reckon that’s far more likely to happen playing with the firsts than Casey

Whose patience? The ones that think low possessions isn’t doing the team thing or the Match Committee’s ?

I doubt anyone had Geelong and "much needed experience" on their bingo card this year. Is the statement, that Geelong needs more experience even close to accurate?

That change would allow Brayshaw to play part time on the wing and give us more height if needed.

Or even Gus full time wing and use Hunter and Langdon across half forward.

I agree with Brayshaw more wing. IMO he can't effectively play back with the current mix which is working well - May, Tomlinson, Lever, Hibberd, Salem, Rivers, McVee. Bad luck for Bowey.

If Smith continues his improving form where does Petty play? Can we have 3 talls forward and play the rucks behind the ball?

Smith out for Petty.

Bowey, JJ, Spargo, Smith all unlucky. You can add Turner, Woewodin, Howes and Harmes. That's what you get with a good, fit list and it's a good problem to have.

So 21,000 cats fans get to see the past 2 Premiers play whilst the MCG and Marvel sit empty. Change the fkcingu venue I want to go see us spank the Cats.

To be fair their midfield has been a bit light recently.

Kossie has looked most dangerous this year when he  runs into forward 50 from either midfield or high HF

His craft is actually pretty average within the arcs of actually being front and centre to crumb ( rarely there)...Is also flying for big marks when he is just spoiling our talls (Why are you flying?)

He is a brilliant player and not for a second would i consider dropping him.   BUT he does need a bit of clear direction on what his role is and how he could be so much better if he did the bread and butter things that would take him to the games regular elite.

He needs a penny drop moment like Rankine had last year and continued on with again this year.  For him it was the defensive side of his game. For Kozzie he already does the defensive stuff....He needs to start doing the percentages things hell of a lot better, get front and square, stop flying.

Really believe he sees the game unfold easier running INTO forward 50, not so much so coming out of it.  He does crazy things in small amounts of space, give him more space to let him play a more instinctive style that suits him.

No, but your bingo card analogy seems age appropriate.

Always a very tough gig down at Kardinia.

Buoyed by a big win and new confidence, we are certainly a chance.

Hopefully Oliver and Bowser back but not sure who comes out for the latter. Tommo must stay and I think Smith gets another go on his 2nd half efforts.

Normal conditions would suggest Kozzie or Spargo gets dropped. Pickett however is a superstar so he stays. He's bound to play a blinder soon. Just hasn't been the same since suspended for some reason.

Perhaps we just text all the cats players a nice pic of Maxy during the week.

I hope the umpiring improves. The htb non decisions yesterday were a very poor effort. The dangerous tackle call was strange. It's comical after a whistle call to see confused players see which way the call will go lately.

Great to have Oliver back. Who comes out is a tough call. Will be tough for Bowser to come back in after such a great win.

Don't think you can ground Air Pickett, although it would be nice if he actually held one aha

If both Tomlinson and Smith stay in the side that is to play against Geelong and put In extremely good games again,  it will give the selectors plenty to think about how to fit Petty back in the following week (if he is fit).

I wouldn’t even consider putting  forward a suggested scenario of who comes in / goes out. I presume (hope) that the selectors take the opportunity to look at the long game and rest / rotate players in order to make sure we have the fittest list available at year end to choose from.

Even if unfortunately we lose a ‘star’ to an injury come finals we should then be able to cover them with a player that is blooded and understands  our processes and can play their role in our system.

I like our selectors having big headaches. It gives them opportunity to maximise the strength and depth of the squad.  I feel bad for the players who miss out.

It’s an absolute travesty this game is again at Kardinia in front of 4 toothless Geelong fans and their mangey dog.

Some of his MOTY attempts recently have been totally unrealistic IMO. I'm not wanting him to stop trying to take big marks - his flair is exciting and brings people to the game but flying in a pack of giants is not what he is there to do - in those situations he should be positioning himself in a dangerous position to pick up the inevitable spoilt ball.

Exactly. The last 2 premiership teams on a Friday night playing at the rubbish ground. Totally unfair we have to play there every year without fail.

Its actually worse, it's a thursday night, meaning get st-ffed families with school kids from Melbourne as well.
