I love him too, but tonight he was either brilliant or horrendous, with nothing in between.

Loved his second efforts, but they usually came off the back of terrible errors.

He’s putting together a very good season and would be pushing for a top five finish in our best and fairest so far. He randomly costs us a bad goal every week, but outside that he’s become seriously well rounded and versatile too.

He’s the anti Kozzie at the moment.

Will do something that tears your hair out, but then make up for it with 5 brilliant things.

Kozzie will kick a brilliant goal but then you won’t see him for the next 30 minutes.

Rivers is having a much improved year compared to 2022.

Has not fired a shot since he laid the spear on Smith.

Rivers has had a very solid month.

His attack at the contest and reading of the play has been impressive. Confident and has good vision.

I'll allow the odd mistake here and there when he's having such a positive impact.

He's got that rare Sean Wight defensive desperation spoil energy combined with athleticism and speed. You love to see it.

If it was the 90's, he would be developing into the full back position.

Good thread, he and Hibbo are the only run and carry players down back. Get the ball put it under their arm and run and break the lines

I think he's been great. Love his dash and dare. Great kick.  He does alternate regularly between the sublime and the ridiculous though.

If he can reduce the clangers to 'rarely' rather than weekly he is on the cusp of becoming an A grade HB.

Maybe just tell him not to try and thread high risk short passes through traffic from here.  Play the percentages by foot.

I will take the errors for the enterprise he brings.

We simply can’t fall back into leaving spark and movement to Hibberd and Rivers.

When we get boring and tight - that’s when we lose.

I hope he never loses that dare and confidence.

Having a strong year and good chance for a top 5 B&F finish.

His kicking has become a real weapon with his ability to hit targets long and short while also removing those howlers from earlier in the season. So glad he's ours and won't be long before the rest of the AFL world catch on to how good he is. Sam Mitchell already knows.

What I really like about the Riv, is

❤️he’s thirst for the contest and intensity.

❤️ his run and run and carry.
❤️his Second efforts.

❤️He’s a Good mark.

❤️He’s a Good kick long and short.

Definitely one of the first picked now and likely will be in top 5-8 range imv for the B&F.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
