When play resumed the Dees clawed their way back but it was too little too late and they eventually lost by 11 points.

I'll take that margin considering what it was an hour ago.

Ugh it would have been good to snag another. Just to many handballs.

God how weird tonight.

Lets just get home and find out what's the damage to max.

Don't fear Brisbane one bit.

Give us Kozzie, May, Salem and Gawn back in and we beat them comprehensively.

A good lesson, can’t rely on veterans like May and Gone, way past it.

WTF?
I left the pub and caught a tram home thinking the game was over and then checked into kayo and there was 2 mins to go and we were 19 points down and then kicked a goal.

We were pox before that.

It was doom and gloom but that last 8 minutes proves we can play good football when our transition from d50 and entry into the forward line has bit of courage.

It was a horrendous performance but theres something there to keep us hopeful and moving forwards.

Absolute garbage. We had a bad night compounded by the fact that the universe conspired against us. Salem, May, Gawn, and then greasy conditions that really suited them.

All we could do at the end was come out and give it our all. That could be the most important 10 minutes of footy we play for the year. Percentage will split the good sides at the end.

Im proud of that effort.

The last 12 minutes was fake footy in some respect given Brisbane had stopped but I hope we take something from the way we at least remembered how to run and gun and attack.

We lost this game by being disastrously belted in the middle. -28 in clearances, and it would have been worse before the break because we got a bunch of centre clearances in that late run.

Gawn going down threw us out. The same thing happened last year when May went down against Fremantle. It's understandable, but disappointing all the same, that we couldn't re-group.

You'd expect a few changes next week given some of the poor performances tonight. But a few changes aside, we will lose to Sydney next week if we don't dramatically improve in the clearances.

Basically a carbon copy of the West Coast game in 2021. The only difference is that we were the ones playing catch up this time.

Yeah restarts suck

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
