Now that is interesting Re the news on McAdams. There must be a specific reason for that trade and I am assuming it is something to do with the functioning of the forward line. Melbourne must have offered some certainties around his position as he has knocked back a 2 year deal from an up and coming team in Adelaide.

I wonder where @Chook in Perth is these days. Always has good mail.

Probably Perth Jaded.

Sorry.  Couldn't resist 😉

Guess Goody couldn't be too critical of Grundy talking to Port during the season when we've likely been having chats with multiple players.

McAdams' game more closely resembles Melksham than our other small forwards.

Probably keen on him as a replacement / cover for Melk.

And they wont be on a 4 year deal, back up rucks get short deals which is why they move around.

if we get a ruck in it will be a cheap option but a solid ruck, they are never great around the ground but usually pretty competitive in the ruck contests.  They also have Verrall developing in the VFL.  The only reason they would spend money is if they don't think he will cut it.  From what i have seen from the 19 YO he looks pretty good in the early stages of his career.

Unless we go for a Chol type who is the Ruc/Fwd type, then you will have to spend a little bit.  Which i don't mind that option. But not his contract which would have to be around the $1mil mark over the next 2 years

I reckon if Grundy goes to Port Sam Hayes could be part of the package coming back, he's 24 was highly rated in his draft year but slipped down lower than expected. He hasn't set the world on fire but a move back to Vic behind Max might be good for him and provide the support needed until Verrall is ready. Wouldn't be on big coin either

We like replacing like for like as a  mature medium forward. Definitely a melksham type. Same height as Melksham, taller than spargo, kozzy and chin.

His extended highlights make him look very Milky like

Yup, id be fine with that. that exactly the type of back up we need.

Some talk in the WA press that Jack Darling might be a good trade for Melbourne since we are in the premiership window.  Good for another season mor two perhaps.

Darling is the most overated footballer in the league

I will always remember the sitter he missed in the dying seconds of the 2018 GF.

He likes long walks along the beach and doesn't mind going to theatre plays.😂

Offered 3 during the midway point of the year and the offer changed to 2 years and he was less than happy.

Apparently had differing views to Burgo in regards to training standards/recovery.

Burgo asked Shane to push through sprints repetitions harder, this after Shane had flagged hammy tightness.

Shane took advice onboard nonetheless and ended up tearing his hammy, was beyond peaking.

Another issue that played a small part in requesting a trade was the suspension he recieved during the year, thought he could have received more support from the Croms.

We're is the logic in choosing  Melbourne when we have Burgos apprentice.... did he not see how long it took for Clarry to recover from a hamstring?

should have grabbed him in 2010 instead of Lucas Cook. What a difference he would have made

Unfortunately Darling now is Cooked

Didn’t you just answer your own question?

Overly cautious approach vs caution-to-the-wind approach.

Not great.

Possibly with us trading them pick 24 back - i.e., 11 for Grundy (and us paying some salary) and 24. Possibly Grundy and our natural first-rounder for theirs and no salary. Its a great trade for us in any realm if true.

And for Sydney - their first pick (even if it is 11) ends up being 15-18 due to Academy and McKay. So not bad for them either. Ah, I'll take the rumour :)

Any rumors about a decent [censored] forward?

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
