Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Ummm, just checking: do we know for sure that the men weren't present?

As to the men's engagement with the women, Ben Brown says hullo, as does Jake Lever of the 'watching the GF' footage. And the footage of much of the team watching the (I think) AFLW6 GF.

Yes, they were training at the time. Ben Brown is the exception. Some of them were obviously away at that time of year, but how many of our players made the effort to go to the prelim? Because I can only remember seeing Viney who was sitting with his dad (no issue with that) in the opposition stand section.

If our male and female players had a strong connection we’d see a lot more of it. On social media, at finals, across the club media.

If they can’t even get the basics right - show up for a farewell of the captain and a legend - then there’s clearly not the level of unity the club should be trying to foster. It might be two very well run programs but they’ll miss out if it’s not one unified club.

Interestingly, I actually remember reading/hearing Daisy talking about the connection between the women's and men's programs being something that she and the club were working on improving. Not that she was saying it was bad, just that it was something that they should work to evolve, with things returning to a level of stability with Covid. It was pretty important to keep separation between the lists for a few years there, so I can see there being lingering effects of that. I recall there being several events involving both teams before that (training, social stuff), but there's been significant list turnover in that time. The constant up-in-the-air nature of the women's season and the fact that they're not contracted for the vast majority of the year probably doesn't help. The contact hours they have with the club are limited and really need to be maximised carefully for on-field success - though the new CBA for Season 7 did allow players more scope to attend the club more often, which was great and I'm sure taken full advantage of, with great results on-field.

It really has been a pretty hectic few years at club land, so I can see how this stuff isn't top of mind. From a fan perspective, though, I reckon we do the "one club" mentality increasingly well... But I don't get the sense that there's been much opportunity for cross-program exchange from a playing group perspective. Or even that it's something that (most) members/fans might value? Maybe some Demonlanders will get an insight at Family Day, assuming both teams will be in attendance. It's still pretty new territory, really.

I wasnt being tongue in cheek. What did i say that wasnt accurate. Pierce is quite a good commentator but ive never seen her play but that goes for most of the footy public.

what did you say that wasn’t accurate? i haven’t got all day but i’ll help you out a little, you said AFLW players are lauded as amazing athletes which rarely happens in comparison to the mens. then you said they are lauded as legends and every article us the same which is so incorrect it’s not even worth expanding on.

Then you say you haven’t seen her play! wow. what are you even doing on this thread?

and the few articles pumping up womens footy, why do you think that is? maybe coz women have only been able to play footy for a decade whereas men have had it for over a century. and they still cop heaps of [censored] about it for no reason from insecure men

The women's game is more important than many realise. Anyone with young daughters who love footy would tell you that. It's improving every year, and is increasing the participation rate amongst girls, who eventually become women invested in AFL, and in turn the Demons.

I grew up invested in the Dees (third gen) but slowly lost interest in the AFL as it became apparent I wasn't truly welcome.  Time passed and I found my way back to the game as the AFLW gained more prominence.  Despite that, I probably watch more AFLM.

One thing that continues to bug me is the inequality of attention between the AFLM and the AFLW.  They both are riveting, if you watch.  However, a lot of people seem to perceive AFLM as the only legitimate expression of the sport, which is quite frustrating (even if it is their loss).

Daisy is the football equivalent of the Get Smart character Simon the Likeable. (The tennis equivalent was/is Ash Barty.)

Who doesn't love Daisy? She's charming, intelligent ... [insert other adjectives here]. However I'm glad she has decided to retire. She was pretty much cooked as a player. Shame she's going to the puddy tatts though.

Hopefully that’s for some outside coaching experience and that she returns home as an assistant coach and eventually Coach of the Dees AFLW team.

The move to Geelong will be the best experience she can get, especially if the coaching path is something she wants to go down in.

Absolutely and I hope she takes all that IP with her when she returns to Demonland.

I saw that too - so random!

(I'm assuming it was some kind of glitch, but I like your conspiratorial thinking)

Obviously some kind of top-secret intel that will hold the key to the Dees' success when she gets back here.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
