We all Remember the days when the draft was our premiership. To have us win a premiership in 2021, with real hope for a second, and looking at a top ten, possibly top 5 pick coming back is better than Xmas. I feel like Iโ€™m living like a unicorn ๐Ÿ˜œ

I will be watching the game today, reading 2023 phantom drafts, and laughing at those who thought they were the unicorn.ย

Bring it onโ€ฆย

Yep, and we gave up pick 3 to get it.ย

Jacko really is a distant memory for many.ย

Just think of the possibility that we win a flag and flagmantle win the wooden spoon!

When has the premiers ever gotten the number one draft pick?

omg! That is mind blowing.

hahahahaha!

Closest I can think of would be a couple of Sydney academy picks when they were top of the ladder. Heeney (defaulted to 18) Mills (taken at 3, before Oliver).

It sure worked our well for the Swans so here's hoping it keeps us growling along nicely.

Harley Reid come on down!

Or.... we swap pick 1 for three first rounders, as many reports have mentioned. Imagine the premiers having 4 first rounders!

Wishful thinking!

Definitely wishful thinking. Fremantle could miss the 8 but definitely won't be bottom. Still, whichever way you look at it Melbourne are well-positioned for the 2023 draft. What does [censored] me off though is all the compromises to the draft from father-son and academy selections.

I reckon today will tell us where theyโ€™re going this year.

50/50 game on the road against a side thatโ€™s hot off the showdown.

Start 1-3 and theyโ€™re going to have to go on a couple of 3-4 game winning streaks if they hope to make finals.

first decent forward connection I've seen from Freo this season. maybe they have turned the corner?

Go Crom

Eeeewwww thats feels very dirty putting those words down. It's downright wrong.

This is excellent loving having 2 games a week i am genuinely supporting.ย

Woey betide

Who'd have thought we would be doing to a team what Collingwood did to us for all those years. Dawes Neeld Lumumba Howe Kennedy. On and on. Freo have a way to go but it's getting there. Hogan Jackson hopefully Jefferson and two mega stars in this years draft care of them.
Although to be fair we can't really take the credit for it like Collingwood did. Peter Bell has to take all the credit.ย

We could easily end up with something close to pick 3 this year+ Jefferson (2022 #13)ย  + 2023 #23 to #26!

Reckon Freo had pencilled in being 6/0 or 5/1 in the first part of the season.ย  They won't get even close.ย  Then the tough draw starts!!

Happy days!!๐Ÿ™ƒ

Jacko having a mare too. Poor bugger is going to be under immense pressure now if he wasnโ€™t already.ย

Not wrong. For the most part they've all been thoroughly enjoyable too!

Despite the conventional wisdom on here Jackson was pretty good from what I saw of that Q...a nice tap to advantage and a couple of good grabs. Happy to see Freo getting smashed but look with both eyes people.

What have they done to Dog?

Looks half the player he was with us

And he wasnโ€™t that great with us. Played some exciting minutes and quarters showing great promise in what will be a historically great MFC team.ย
ย

He ainโ€™t a Pickett, Daicos, Serong, Curnow, Gawn, etc.ย

ย

Iโ€™m glad we didnโ€™t pay out of our pocket to keep him. It looks as tho the trade will work in Our favour. Taylor will ensure we do!ย

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmyโ€™s inclusive bannerโ€”"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwoodโ€™s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.ย

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
