I thought the trade period couldn't be going any worse. Then I saw a Josh Bruce thread

This bloke was playing pretty good footy for dogs in year of his ACL , neck and neck with Naughtin.

Hardly exciting but he is a genuine tall and kicked 48 goals 21 from 20 games last year

certainly an upgrade on Tomlinson if his body is OK

Can’t understand everyone being disappointed if we trade Tomlinson for Bruce. Crazy talk.

He snagged 10 in a game in our premiership year.

It probably won’t work, but if it does…

Besides, Toml offers us nothing now and Bruce as a mentor for JVR isn’t the worst thing in the world.

Is this the same Josh Bruce that kicked 48 goals in 20 games in 2021, including bags of 10 and 5?

Compare that to everyone’s beloved Ben Brown who kicked 30 in 19 games this year.

Think of what a player can do rather than what they can’t.

The big shaggy ruckman for Sydney. Can't remember his name.

Delivery inside 50 is the main thing with these types of forward

No, the same Ben Brown that kicked 60 goals in a season 3 years in a row.

Good grief.

I never thought this would come out of my mouth, but I think I would actually prefer Schache.

Just off to wash my mouth out

Why don’t you take your own advice when it comes to Brown?

Also he kicked 3 in a flag winning side for your club.

Saw that on a bathroom wall somewhere…

It's the same Josh Bruce that kicked 1 goal in 5 games this year including a bag of 1.

If We get Bruce for the right price, why not? Better than no-one…..particularly now MB has retired. He has the bigger body to contest. Bruce May suit our style of play! He is a true forward in the style of T Mac.

Yes, the same Josh  Bruce who was coming off a knee reco and came back too early.

He may end up being a direct VFL replacement for M Brown or he could have a massive bounce back year after a strong pre season. I’m keeping open minded and we need to address our forward line.

I reckon Schache wasn't far off.

Agree!! It’s not like there is much more on the shelf to buy. Shrewd idea of the club given the lack of choice. If the price is right, why not?

FMD. Next thing we'll be bringing . .

  • Wayne Carey in to deliver workshops on respect,
  • David Barham to run HR, and
  • Berm/Richo on critical thinking.

Has my support!

Money ball.

I wld certainly want him as a possible option coming into the season rather than not. Its not like there is a better  available option.

On 2022 form he won't get a game but definately wld on 2021 form.

We may end up with too many key fwd options, but BB and Tmac have question marks over their bodies, so throw another option in there.

Its probably 2 KF positions being fought over between JVR, TMac, BBB and Bruce.

Then two rucks and Fritch.

Makes sense if its a Tommo swap.

BRING BACK JOSH MAHONEY

What’s your alternative solution? Realistically.

Don't understand the hostility. We're swapping out a player we don't require for someone that will bolster our KPF stocks. It's a low cost depth play. Not much downside and you never know, he might kick 20-25 goals for us next season

A player we "don't require" that played 8 games? (Bruce played 5)

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
