Ahhh, a trip down memory lane...

This year feels a lot more relaxed! How do you spend your pre-game 1 year ago?

For me, I was camping in a motorhome in Halls Gap, my parents in law happened to be up there as well... it was pouring with rain. My dear wife had pretty heavy menstruation, my then 5yo was also a bit sick, with all of that, she was over the camping and decided to leave and go back home. My parents in law kindly drove her and my son back.

That left me with the motorhome by myself - and a choice to head back to regional lock down ... so I drove to the edge of the nearest LGA that wasn't in lockdown and ended up in...Birregurra, rented a house for the night, brought plenty of Forrest Brewery Beers and lit an open fire and relaxed.....and then paced around, and paced around some more...happy in the knowledge that I could completely stress the [censored] out by myself and not on public display...

Hope it had a fire place.  If not it does know?

I Hit the turps early to settle the nerves

I will be watching last years Grand Final tomorrow, to celebrate this anniversary.

GF flashbacks coupled with lockdown flashbacks

so many emotions

😂 so so undeniably true.

Even though we didn't make it this year, i feel really, really good. I've seen us raise the flag, and in a 'poorer' year we played in the semi-final. I am in my MFC 2021 premiership clothing merchandise because we are the reigning premier until it is decided otherwise.

However, like Chook above, I want more. Lots more. With this midfield and backline a minimum of two flags is a pass.

Happy 1 year to you too EO!

We all shared something special that night. Pretty sure I went on one of the most heartfelt, crazy, drunken, nutjob, elated speeches in all my history of DL around midnight that night! Again apologies for that all!

We'll never forget it!

Happy one year anniversary to when I cried because we won a flag and because I wasn’t there to see it.

Let’s hope this time next year I’m at the G and not our shopping to distract myself from the possibility of Geelong winning a flag.

Sad day - last as reigning premiers. I want more.

Ditto.  A miserly 3 more in the next five years.  That's not asking too much is it?

I'm getting a little comfort knowing we will always have 2021 and no-one can take that away from us. Also watched GF replay last night with many goosebump moments!

Great post and hope all Landers have a great day 👍🏻

Ty to EO for starting this thread.  The happiest day and year of my life.

Let's take a moment to remember our  immortal legends that broke the 57 year drought and brought so much pride & joy to the Demon faithful...

All I took from this story was that you broke the rules and travelled outside your 5km zone. 🤣

I think I have lockdown PTSD.

I was essentially locked out of Australia, so I had no chance.

Still cherished the day.

I realised that if I was in Australia, I’d most likely be at the game sitting with strangers, instead of at home watching with my kids.  Really fond memories of celebrating each goal with them.  Wouldn’t trade it.

12 months goes quickly, easily the best trip of my life watching the Dees in Perth.

Im sure we will do it again on the G in the next year or two.

To paraphrase (the much preferred) Leonard Cohen rather than Robbie Williams.

First we re-take the ‘G’ and then we take the Grail.

Bring on ‘23

Was at a pub with a bunch of mates yesterday, felt a bit bitter about all the experiences we missed out on.

Much better watching with pals than alone on the couch with a cat aha

Cmon 2023!

Watched it at my Neighbors house. They had not been in Australia long, and were new to a GF experience.
Although both had been to the ‘G to see a game.
It was a surreal night i shall never forget, but still a little sad i was not able to Celebrate one of Earth’s greatest moments outside with thousands of other Demons

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
