Canโ€™t see us coming back from this.ย
Disappointing display. We look flat, we canโ€™t win the footy at ground level or in packs or in the air. Theyโ€™re all over us.ย

Making a pretty slow and predictable team look very good. We are very flakey against top 4 sides and it's a major concern. Game over.ย

Cats +13 in clearances. Weโ€™ve been beaten at the source tonight and then theyโ€™ve setup better structurally too.

Even if we get up from here, thereโ€™s a lot to learn from tonight. Need to improve come finals time.

Gee we never go near the corridor. Slow boring playย

Well we always have learnings ! WTFTM

Too many non-contributors, they are cutting us up big time, we have no time or space with the ball.

We have been massively outplayed this quarter so far.

Kick a couple to close out the quarter and we might pinch it

Lot of learnings from this game

Throw, We have so many players down. Not shattered if we lose this at that dump of a narrow ground

We knew it was narrow and even the commentators knew at the start that Geelong would switch it and use the corridor.

I'm grinding my teeth every time we leave them loose on the far side and then we just kick down the line.ย

It's so stupid and predictable and yet we have not adjusted.

The cats are not playing that well, they're just using the ground so much better.

I do think Salem looks slow

Weโ€™re playing with heavy legs and the fumbles. Very few spills have gone our way. The width of the ground is affecting us. We canโ€™t use the breakaway width, the boundary keeps spoiling it. Feels like one of those nights the bounce of the ball has had a huge impact.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Letโ€™s be honest, last weekโ€™s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper โ€” second versus seventeenth โ€” football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrowโ€™s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the teamโ€™s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Fullarton managed a couple of games in the first half of the season but soon found himself back in the VFL. There, he found a niche at centre half back but it was not enough to retain a place on the list at seasonโ€™s end.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Entering 2025, it looked as if Petty would be secured in a defensive position, but plans shifted and he spent more time forward, averaging just over a goal per game throughout the season. It remains uncertain which area of the ground he will be expected to cover under the new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The dynamic small forward, possessing an innate ability to generate excitement with his explosive play around the goals, successfully transitioned into a role that afforded him more time in the midfield. The club also negotiated a long-term deal with Pickett, thereby eliminating any prospect of a move west by their star young player.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #37 Kade Chandler

For a few years now, he has been a reliable, hard working pressure forward, but in 2025, Chandler elevated his performance, becoming an integral component of the team with enough versatility to play effectively on a wing from time to time.
