its amazing what winning games of footy does. Lose today and Gawn foot turns out to be  more of a 6-8 week injury.

I heard he was dead halfway through the first…

Bowey is struggling? He was perfectly fine tonight. Played his role.

Not struggling, but he’s fumbling some tough ground balls and losing some winnable aerial contests. I think his speed and smarts still give him the edge, but down back there’s at least genuine pressure for spots.

Gawn said he'll be back to play Adelaide I'm backing him in. Out Weideman.

No Max. You can play against Geelong down at Mordor. They can take care of Adelaide.

No change.

Agree, no change for next week.  As an aside I heard Neal Bullen say on ABC radio after the game that Viney’s speech to the players prior to the game and at half time was inspirational.

Just like Gawney in last year’s GF told the coaches to keep Jacko on the ground in the centre bounces in the 3rd quarter  I wouldn’t put it past him to let Viney speak to the playing group come this GF when we are playing whoever if he thinks it will help the crew.

If Gawn plays I will be disappointed. I love the guy but get him right. Don't take a risk with him.

I wouldn't mind seeing Disco coming back he was good until he got knocked out but Rivers is the obvious choice if we drop bowzer.

If Viney has the slightest niggle rest him until the finals.

Bedford deserves a run of games. 2 very well taken goals, applied pressure and linked well with kossie a few times.

no changes for me

He's a clean as Oliver at ground balls as a rule. He didn't nail them last night, but we were rarely caught out defensively after the first quarter, so he executed his role.

yep, forward line had a nice balance last night, was good to see the small forwards dancing around the slow Brisbane backline.

Um I dont think Bowey is in the side to win aerial contests. Often he stays out of them.

I think his form of late has been ordinary, perhaps Rivers in.....

Hopefully no change, but slightly worried about how Viney's corky might pull up during the week.

I guess Dunstan in for him if it's needed.

He will be fine.  We have another 9 day break to the next game.

Wild horses and wild bulls couldn't keep him from playing.

Yeah, bring him back for the following one vs Geelong.  Because of the bye/fixturing it will be about 3.5 weeks since the injury.

He said a highlight of 2021 was beating Geelong three times!!  Like their feline mascot, they would be hissing and spitting at that comment.

He won't want to miss a trip to the kittens' playground.  Inflict more hurt.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
