This is a tweet from 'Age' journalist Peter Ryan today.  Anyone heard anything else about this?

NB:  I'm aware of the massive oxymoron that is "AFL integrity department".

The AFL integrity department have decided to take a further look at the May-Melksham incident to ensure there are no surprises beyond what has been established.@agerealfooty

Didn't take long for the Demons of old to be back  in the news for the wrong reasons, when you include the text messages BS of ex & current presidents!

The Momentum video of breaking the drought when Gawn is talking about how they changed they way the players spoke to each other professionally and making a commitment to each other, which helped change the culture is a slap in the face from May!

Going on past history most supporters will be fearing how the season will unfold.

Not sure why Goody hasn't addressed this with the media and is waiting until Friday presser, so its dragged on for the whole week.

Very happy for Goody to be doing the job as outlined in his position description actually.

Understandable. The AFL needs to satisfy itself that there's nothing more than has been already stated.

Drinking heavily whilst concussed, slagging off an injured team mate and brawling in public. This is not a trivial matter contrary to what some on here are saying.

Derwayne's justification was the Shai Bolton 2020 incident.

And on it goes. Hope May and Melksham are really really proud of their actions.

Just seen the latest HS headlines. One could be mistaken for thinking there is a concerted effort to attack the club. 3 banner headlines all about Goody, AFL investigation and May having a dust up with Richetelli at Gold Coast. Thank god in cancelled my subscription years ago and wouldn't lower myself to pick up the paper and read. But they still damage the club with sensations headlines that are old news.

Its time MFC, supporters and everyone else boycott this excuse for a newspaper.

Devil's advocate for a second but there has to be a reason that more than one person is calling for AFL intervention other than purely having an agenda and being out to 'get us', supporting a team that is counter to us etc.

They are both Dogooders, no need at all for an investigation.

This is ****house, all very disappointing.

You can’t even scratch your backside these days without someone filming you, I’m really surprised no footage has emerged to date.

Well, I don’t know what you’re talking about?

Everything is fine in the land of No Apologies! No one is upset or sorry for anything!

What a magical place this is… there are fights everywhere, everyone is calling each other terrible epithets and calling into question their value both verbally and digitally. But no one should be upset according to my warped reality so no one IS upset… (birds fluttering, organ playing 🎵)

In some ways ignorance is bliss RP!  Might be better for all our sakes at this point!

This is what happens when you drip feed info out with the facade of being holistic and thorough.

You can’t fake it, the veneer wears off eventually.

It was a scuffle. Whatever that is.

It was banter. It was obviously more than that.

It was May ‘having a drink’ under protocols. It was May at the boxing probably drinking all arvo…

It was all sorted. The restaurant didn’t think so.

What actually happened? I will tell you something different every effing day.

So the AFL's investigation unit deems it appropriate to investigate an intra club stoush but De Goey (with priors) being charged by the NYPD for allegedly groping a female in a nightclub is ignored!!??

Who would've thought... Gil & the AFL having double standards with outcomes dependent on the Club/s in question

Of course it’s the way that this is all phrased which is what matters. I imagine just about every incident that results in a player being suspended is actually investigated by the AFL Integrity unit, but saying “Breaking: AFL launching their own investigation” sounds so much more dramatic and can of course fill more pages of the newspaper. What really grinds me is that this week and match should be focused on MND and the Big Freeze, but the actions of May and Melksham have ruined it and placed the club in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

Even though I back Melky for sticking up for his teammates, it did make me wonder about him getting out of this with no sanction.

This should be over. That it is not is a consequence of media madness and Gill wanting to be seen to do something.

Time for the middle finger to the AFL and the media

the benefit of this from an mfc side is that once completed etc. it will close it out

What can the AFL do here, is it just a fine or a ban likely? Would hate to lose him for the Brisbane game

Did this happen for the Jordan DEGOEY incident in the USA??

Don’t think the AFL can investigate a police matter. Let alone one that occurs overseas and ends up in court.

I think the club handled this poorly. They tried to sugarcoat the truth and instead each day the real truth came out in tiny morsels, making the entire thing sound so much worse. AFL probably wants to know what else we are hiding.

That’s the thing though, I feel like we’ve acted very appropriately towards May so I can only imagine that the lack of sanction towards Melksham is the only part that could genuinely be questioned. Beyond that I can’t see what it else we could’ve done.

No swearing please. You could get “cancelled” for that.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
