If Petty doesn't get up I wonder if Weideman will be strongly considered to play as a defender...?

You are joking right DD?

Out of the closet...

Backend

Hunt Petty (Turner) Lever

Salem Thommo Hibberd

Middle

Brayshaw Jordan Langdon

Jackson Oliver Viney

Frontend

Nibbler Petracca Kossie

M Brown Gawn Fritsch

Bench.. Bowey Harmes Spargo Rivers

In .. Rivers Hibberd

Out.. B Brown Sparrow

Sub.. Sparrow

Emerg..  Melky (for smacking May deserves another game) Laurie, Turner (if Petty is out) Bedford, Daw

Rationale is to build our versatility...by

1. Get the defence set for the second half of  the year (keep Thommo in the team for insurance at both ends or if May is run out of town) get Pig in, keep Rivers warm, keep May sober, keep watch on Turner)

2. Throw the middle around so its not so predictable, (Gus back to the wing, don't rely on the Oliver-Tractor one two, make Dogga work, get Harmes more involved, keep Jordon and Sparrow learning)

3. The Achilles heel the front end is where Nibbler Kossie Spargo and Fritta must keep doing their pressure thing Bedford and Laurie could offer something down the track (but Big  Benny  is gone, TMac is gone, Weed is done, and Thommo can't help because May is [censored]) that leaves Gawn the captain (he can use M Brown -on Howe as an ally)  which means Dogga  has to ruck all day and so in order to kick more points then the filth we put the TRACTOR at the  front end....

4. Keep the faith...

I’m leaning towards including Hibberd. Gives 100% every time he takes the field. I back his ability to compete.

I think the forward line is NOT the issue. It’s the mids entries inside 50 tht is our problem. I’ve said this for a few weeks now, we are actually hurting ourselves by overusing the ball through the midfield. The old ‘Hollywood handball’ has crept back into our game and it means we put ourselves under pressure and create poor bombing entries. In addition, we are picking the wrong time to hold the ball up in midfield and also when to go quick. If we can fix this and start exiting front of stoppage, we can generate better looks at goal. That’s the key.

Hibberd will have to play this week.  He can play medium or tall and if Petty ends up getting injured during the game we'll need the extra tall.  Tomlinson is a must as well.  Probably looking at a back 7 of Hibberd, Lever, Petty, Tomlinson, Salem, Brayshaw, Bowey I reckon.  That's still 6 premiership players out of the 7.

Hibberd might be able to cover Mihocek

IN: bedford, hibberd, turner, sideshow bob
OUT: spargo, weideman, hunt, petty

if petty comes up then obviously turner doesn't debut

I'm just wondering if anyone watched Tomlinson's game last week? How on earth should he be retained? Why should Spargo be dropped? Who is sideshow bob? Weideman never played.

IN: Bedford, Hibberd, Turner

OUT: Hunt, Tomlinson, B.Brown

I think I've made it clear about what I think of Tommo, but I'd seriously consider replacing Sparrow with Rivers use Rivers more as a midfielder.

If Petty doesn't play we are rooted. Turner should play anyway replace that spud Tomlinson.

You mean that guy who was in career best form last year until doing a knee and who has dominated at VFL this year and played one poor game last week.

IMO it ain't the backline that is our problem it is the forwards.

I think we’ve got issues across the ground which impact each other. Our midfield isn’t delivering well into the forwards, and even when they do our forwards aren’t taking marks they usually would. Our small forwards aren’t putting enough pressure on the opposition coming out which puts pressure on our midfield to defend, which then leaves our defence vulnerable (and currently undermanned).

Across all line we aren’t playing well. I’m not saying we need wholesale changes but I do think there are a number of players that need a rocket up them.

May being internally suspended really annoys me, it’s the right call from what little I can see but FMD for such an important player to do such a stupid thing and to a teammate no less is a serious problem. These sorts of incidents can grow into bigger issues at the club, sounds like there are some fractures building perhaps born out of our drop in form.

If Petty is injured I think Weid has to come in, play him forward and move Brown to defence. I think Max will need to go back to his old role of being the floating contested marker and start by floating back.

For the first time in over a year I’m going to tip against us this week. Really hope I’m wrong but jeez the Pies must be picking their lips.

Tomlinson retains his place cos May is an [censored]

You want to tell us again what you think of Tomlinson? It’s getting a bit old now.

Pretty unfair imo on someone who was entrenched in our side last year until he did his ACL.

Bedford for Melksham perhaps, burst of energy and forward pressure (something we have sorely been lacking in lately). Personally I’m glad Melk is out anyway, both should’ve been suspended.

I would also like to see Trac and/or Oliver play a bit of forward time, we know Trac can be damaging as a forward and we are struggling there. Perhaps and rotation of Oliver, Trac, and Viney through there could bring something new up there.

What’s really concerning is what was the strongest line (our defence) has fast become our most vulnerable with poor form and lack of personal.

I don’t think we’re at the “throw the magnets around” stage, but something needs to change.

I can't remember a time when we've both been in turmoil as a club -- front page news for all the wrong reasons -- whilst *still* being seen as a great team, AND favourites for a forthcoming match. Normally the turmoil follows a streak of big losses and an extended period of poor performance... this time it's a tall poppy pile on from media elites unsurprisingly with ties to the Pies, Bombers and Tigers. Top of the ladder AND infighting? How juicy! Won a flag and lower crowds than the big clubs? Front page scoop!

There haven't been many opportunities for us as a club to both be under public pressure whilst also being in a prime position to win a game of football.

I really hope the club is primed to give a collective, snotty, pompous middle finger to absolutely everyone that has jumped on the pile on this fortnight, and give Collingwood a good old football lesson. Really [censored] give it to them. And then maybe after the game I'll treat two Pies supporters to a weekend at Buller. Will be the most extravagant vacation they would have taken in their lifetimes.

Seriously, there isn't a better opposition to absolutely bury at a time when we're being question.

[censored] fire up and show the league why we're still number one.

U have a feeling their will be a debutant this week. Although QB and first gamers have not been great for us.. But i think they might give JVR a go. he might run up the ground a bit more.. freshen it up.. not sure but it wouldn't surprise me.

Also wonder if they have thought about Mitch Brown going back at any stage? especially if Petty might miss..

Not beyond the realms of possibility that Tomlinson may need more than 1 game to regain his mojo after not playing in the seniors for 14 months

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
