When we play bad forward line connection and transition is always a problem. They know how the McCartins play bring the ball to ground for FS. 4 goals to them from bad umpiring decisions, can't say the umpires weren't a contributing factor.

Can we beat the Pies

Seriously one could see for weeks that the forward line wasn't working

That's it in a nutshell.  When we bombed long we turned it over & this was 80% of our entries.

Our efforts at contested footy, our decision making & our delivery inside 50 have all been appalling for a while now.

Better to have these issues now then at the end of the season though.

Yep, these three things are glaring and poor at the moment.

We stunk up the joint tonight and of any of you fans who claimed you never got nervous anymore watching us, please send me a bag of whatever you got you trail mix idiots.

Couldn’t take a mark in our forward line to save ourselves.

If Gawn wasn’t there would’ve lost by a lot  more.

their match winning goals were both very iffy fee kicks

It was clear when we struggled in large parts against the two worst teams in North and West Coast yet many here didn’t think anything of it.

Completely agree.

I was chatting to anyone who'd listen to me after those games, saying we're going to drop a few, probably these games, and they thought I was just being a depressive Dee.

Was crystal clear. It's going to take some serious work to turn this around. We need to beat the Pies and regroup over the bye. Rediscover the hunger, work on skills, and stop dumping the ball into the 50 time and time and time again!!!

Trac needs to have a long hard look at himself after he refused to chase when the game was on the line

Or if he’s not fit don’t play him.

It’s like how Salem came back underdone, we really need fresh legs at this time of year because it’s beginning to show.

With this display top 4 is starting to look in doubt.

My worry for a while is that we don't have a functioning forward line at the moment.  One or more of its members can no longer exert real influence on the game.  Obviously, after last year's GF, we are now the hunted.

We have to rise to this obvious and subsequential challenge..  I'm not panicking just yet, but I am worried.  Fritta and BBB have to do better, not just in terms of kicking goals, but ensuring the ball is locked in our forward line for as long as possible.

A sad state of affairs. Zero game winners in the end. Poor in so many ways. MFCSS returns

Only thing to think about is will Moore or Howe get more intercept marks next week?

Hunt isn’t the answer, Brown isn’t worth playing and BBB need to be able to lead to be effective. Petty shouldn’t play next week. Trac has been so poor there must be something wrong. His efforts are terrible.
Sparrow isn’t taking his chances.

Goodwin is being out coached badly. He is once again sticking with a game plan other teams have worked out. He needs to adapt and change or we will lose a lot of games and limp into September

Continually kicking the ball to the top of the goal square doesn’t work, we’ve gone back to the bad habits  of 2020 in the last two weeks

Ben Brown has lost it unfortunately, he’s finished, can’t run can’t lead, can’t jump & doesn’t even get close to the contest

How in gods name is he still getting a game

We dropped  the Adelaide and Collingwood games at the same time last year. Is it a pattern. We only just beat Sydney last year at the G, as I remember it. No need to panic yet!

Mate they are no where near their best form last year. Last year even when playing bad we had more fight and grit.

We have made 2 solid but not premier teams look like gods.

The team is making opposition feel at home in our hollow ground!!

Last week's the Freo chants and now this, the team is killing the supporters momentum

Hang on, we're in trouble are we?

Sydney played out of their minds, they got themselves up for this match.

We were an accurate target away from winning a match, one against great opposition, where our forward line was completely dysfunctional.

We lose and... maintain our position in top 4...

We'll be fine.

Such dubious and soft umpiring decisions tonight.

it didn’t cost us the game - Sydney were  better but gee whiz I was cussing the house down!

What?

Shocking disposal.

Poor decision making.

Lack of hard effective tackling pressure allowing easy options.

5 goals from frees, to not one free in our forward 50.

Key forwards useless again.

Dropping marks and fumbling.

Because we are still on top of the ladder, I won’t just panic yet….just.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
