Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I’ll take them on face value that their assistant was changing careers.

And maybe even that they aren’t worried about Finnigan leaving, a chance to freshen up. The Hawks are still one of the best at recruiting though, so he must be respected.

Luff cutting and running from the list management gig screams fall out with the coach, head of footy or CEO.

Rawlings hired him I think. If it’s CEO or coach that’s a worry.

Remember one of Roosy’s core lessons - you don’t get anywhere unless you’re united and stable.

Just putting this out there.

I know there have been whispers that some @ the AFL have been pushing to still look to relocate Nth to Tasmania,  and a lot of denials etc. Can the AFL, if it actually owns the licenses for all clubs, revoke the Nth license for the AFL and award a new license to Tasmania instead?  Nth could play VFL if they didn't want to exterminate the club entirely.

In terms of the AFL competition, it's not diluting the talent pool, Tasmania gets a new team with it's own branding etc, the complexity of 19 teams is a non issue. Clubs with loud moth presidents like Tony Cochraine who are mewling at the thought of someone taking the teat from their mouth would have less of an argument about the slice of the pie.

I absolutely get this would be a disaster for Nth, but I doubt any supporters (other than the ones who live in Tas) would come across to support the team as a relocation anyway.

Give me 2 minutes to run for cover and then fire away!!!😁

Just what we (Tasmania) have been asking for, a complete basket case of a club, that nobody wants to play for and now, it seems, work for, is anchored to the bottom and has an overall brand we don’t identify with. Sign me up now!!

Lotta people saying we should feel sorry for them.

Might be interesting to go fishing through the Big Footy threads from when we were in danger of folding and see what their supporters were saying. I think that's around the time that they were all starting "who has the best midfield" threads just so they could name themselves while throwing a bone to another random club to make their gloating seem genuine.

First thought is "poor bastards" After a minutes recollection all sympathy evaporates.

Honestly - what would fans prefer?

being a mid table team under Scott for 10 years with no chance to win a flag or to bottom out and have a chance to be a great team and maybe win a flag?

no way you end up with the list we have without bottoming out. It’s painful for north but if they nail 3-4 draft picks along with TT, LDU, JHF they will be back

Just now, whatwhat say what said:

ralph wrote that story ffs

god he's a [censored] of a journo

He uses his headshot as his avatar, which is enough to suggest he’s a [censored] - but what confirms it is the headshot makes him look like he’s auditioning to host The Price Is Right.

Lol, I missed a key line in that post.

TBF to you, I remember you posting a similar sentiment before and it was the first time I'd thought of it from that angle and won me over to that argument.

The AFL will have difficulty doing this as they have no leverage. North are pretty much debt free and have a good balance sheet. They most probably are more financial than us.

North ultimately spends low because it generates low. It will never compete again unless it gets significant AFL backing. And I mean more than just Peter Jackson and Paul Roos level of backing. I mean the type of investment that GC and GWS have received. They won't sustain this way of survival with costs of operations and living increasing but their crowds, growth and on field performance all in decline.

Make no mistake they are at the brink here. And like always someone will bail them out.

Hate to say it because Melbourne was once there but we were always bigger than we were showing. North couldn't even build a big club out of the Carey era. Says everything.

There simply isn't room for them anymore. Sad to say. They should have moved to the GC when they had a chance. That was 13 years ago! And what's changed? They just make up the numbers.

What rubbish, a strong competition is better for everyone.

Incorrect. Too many teams struggling and taking away from an already shrinking talent pool doesn’t make for a better competition.

I know Glenn Luff personally, he is a good man and loved his job. Its North's loss.

Behind it all it seems that the problem is with Armafio (CEO) if what's floating round the North BigFooty board is correct. Be interesting to see what Paul Roos makes of it all.

Takes me back ...

This is so contrived by the AFL.

Witnessing the ‘push’ to relocate them to Tassie.

We won’t see an ‘odd’ round/bye in this league.

Isn't the Tassie Govt pushing for an organic Tassie team as part of their campaign ie;  no relocated teams?

The AFL has more tug and will therefore dictate who goes where and eventually we will all get used to it.
As we have previously.

This is the first bit of positive news Norf have had. Their incompetent recruiters should leave start a fresh and hopefully the newbies can be better than their incompetent predecessors. The greatest thing that happened to Melbourne was Prendergast going to Carlton so we could pick up Taylor hopefully something similar can happen to Norf.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
